Masked Builder Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 I actually have a question for the other mages, are you trying to collect all of the gems, or am I special like my family says? While I'm not a mage I do plan on getting all of them. It just seems silly to not be able to attack with the gem that would hurt the enemy most. Of course, with Atticus and the Sword of Decay, I think our party (half of which are magi) are planning to tear the gems right out of it. Can't blame them, we got shafted on that puzzle door... Yes I am thanks. Quote
The Legonater Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 Yeah. I'm trying to balance my Quest stuff in preparation for my Quest pitch to Sandy, and it seems to be seeping over into my character (i.e. explaining exactly how inferior this Slice N Dice is to the real deal instead of trying to use it to its fullest, most epic extent. ) Don't worry. The Quest I'm planning dabbles in Dyric's backstory a little. In fact, I'm thinking of doing a series of Quests in this area, Masked willing. Quote

Tamamono Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 Actually, Sage is a really good choice for Tomas. You have a great gem for support (mechanical enemies seem to catch Heroes off-guard all the time), and in a support role Mage-classes don't need more than one or two gems. I'd advise Tomas to load up on Scrolls, particularly Blindness and Sealing. Going through the process I outlined earlier, Tomas really only has to choose between Sage, Druid, and Witch; Witch is right out for Tomas, totally out of character for him. Druid would have been another possibility, but really he's more of a straight-up magic user, and sage just works for him. Thanks, Flipz! I think I made a good choice with the Topaz as well. Too bad there were no Amethysts! I'll have to try to get my hands on one soon. Yeah, I'll keep a keen eye out for those scrolls! I was originally planning on tweaking his backstory to become a Witch, but I eventually decided against it. Then I was planning on making him a Druid! In the end I figured the best course of action would be Sage. Quote
Bricksandparts Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 Alf's new picture! How does everyone like it? I decided to make him look more battle-damaged, more like a real barbarian. Quote
Bricksandparts Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 Still photoshop cheesy, but not bad. Well, at least this time it was "not bad"... Quote
JimBee Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 Thanks for the input, Flipz. Actually, there was a bit of character building in Quest 7 that suggests that the imps are strong with magic (Earth/Wood in particular), but I've always saw Hybros as a dark character (personality, not necessarily the element of darkness). I think I will start out with Assassin and evolve from there, as planned. I really hope Hybros and Eric get to go on another quest together, especially if Eric becomes a Berserker. Khorne, what advanced class were you thinking of becoming? As for upgrading characters, I think I'm just going to purchase a bunch of Meads, Nostrums, and Smelling Salts. Taking all three worked really well for the battle that Hybros did in Quest 15, and it's potentially cheaper (and more effective) than investing in weapon upgrades. It would work better for the more drinky-type characters like Eric and Atramor, but Hybros is physically weak so he has to rely on man-made goods to make up for it. Quote
Bricksandparts Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 Wow, has Flipz become a sort of god? Flipz, the class giver god Quote

One thing I found interesting was how Smelling Salts can end up working against you in larger battles. They're great when fighting bosses, but when it comes to hordes of minions, you are more likely to take more damage then the rest of the Party due to taking two free hits for their every one. Quote
Zepher Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 However... if one with a SHIELD were to take the smelling salts... they'd be able to blanket the rest of the party from damage by taking up double the amount of free hits. Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 (edited) I don't think Skrall is ready for Warden quite yet Can Jess and Hoke now post in the thread again, or do the rest of us have to make a decision of who we're fighting with first? Edited February 10, 2012 by Waterbrick Down Quote
Zepher Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 They can indeed post again. Hoke wrote " " in the side quest, but decided to not comment in the real thread. I'm going to hold off until I hear from everyone, clearly this choice is a wonderful character moment! Everyone who has made it so far has played it very well. Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 I was disappointed that Tensi, Haldor, Dyric, and I weren't going to have a chance to take Vonnetate hostage (hence the whispering earlier) and bring him into the town as a sign of good faith, but this is just as good Quote

Wouldn't someone have to take two hits anyway? I mean, the person with the Salts can target two different enemies, preventing that extra free hit from occurring. If they weren't Hastened, then someone in the party would have to take the hit anyway. Quote

You can take away one extra hit by targetting two enemies, but when you are facing upwards to 25 enemies, you are going to take twice as many free hits as the rest of your party. Smelling Salts are great if you have a shield or you're only slightly outnumbered, but they can backfire when used in all out wars. Quote
Jebediahs Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 I don't think Skrall is ready for Warden quite yet Aw, I like the idea of Skrall luggin' around his own source of cover he can plant at any time and shoot from behind. And when SHIELD is rolled he relies on his natural ogre constitution and temporarily regresses mentally to a brute to protect his smaller teammates. Skrall's the biggest in Heroica and Nur prefers something big to hide behind in combat. Quote

swils Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 He's a big ol' ogre... I could see him just lugging around a large slab of rock that he can literally drop into the ground and hide behind. http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=47847 Quote

Rumble Strike Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 I guess in terms of my character, roleplay and characterisation are foremost for me rather than maxing out stats. I admit, Tarn does have an elemental hollow-bladed WP: 10 axe which is very useful for his class, but that's just come through the quests I've been in rather than any great plan. I do agree that at the higher ranges, it's probably better to load up on Meads, Smelling Salts etc than it is spending a lot of gold to go up one weapon power. I put Kyrferath up to 10 so the maths were easier for everyone! Quote
Tanma Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 Listen up, there can only be one amnesic Rogue in this Hall with the let's d,a, and k in his name who lost his memory when he fell in battle, and it will be De'kra. Well until he becomes an Assassin, in which case there can only be one amnesic Assassin and then it will be De'kra. ...I'm not really mad, but I do see some parallels. Of course De'kra didn't initially lose his memory in a fight, bur he did lose it again during that one fight in Quest 4. Quote
Rumble Strike Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 Don't worry Tanma, he does this every Quest! Your portrayal of De'kra is very unique and consistent. Quote
Scubacarrot Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 OK, Dak's range of mental issues: Traumatized childhood, Split personality disorder, Amnesia... Wanna bet on what's next? Quote
