samurai-turtle Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 (edited) I believe they were a Grogmas gift. Yes. I did point out he put the wrong SP eariler, but it looked like it was forgotten. Grogmas, IIRC. Someone is paying attention. Wiz - I would keep those for your PC. A lvl 1 mage with SP: 2 is a nice thing to have. I will second that. A question about the "boots", can anyone wear them? Edited June 4, 2016 by samuraiturtle Quote
UsernameMDM Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 A question about the "boots", can anyone wear them? Any PC can wear unrestricted artefacts. Quote
Lind Whisperer Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 Cedric doesn't hear the lunatic respond, so takes the boots and walks up to Hoke. "'Ey, you look like you know what you're doin'. I saw you sell things earlier, so I'll ask how much for the Blade of Tranquility? It has a very low power, so it can't be worth a lot. Probably too much coin f'r me now, but I could pay ya back later." Blade of Tranquility (WP: 2, deals the Sealed effect, Long-sword) It's not the WP you need to look at, it's the effects. (Which is probably what you were doing, trying to buy a WP: 2 weapon, but just clarifying. )I don't believe Sealed is the most uncommon effect out there, but it's uncommon enough to be handy. Like Star-Breaker - sure, it only deals WP: 5, but it has a 1/2 chance of Stun, which is handy if you muff a roll. Speaking of effects, to all you "thinking about hosting one" QMs out there - if you want your players to love you, have a blacksmith/etc., offer effect upgrades. Not too many - just one or two, and not so powerful that they're infringing on the turf of the Old Guard - but not overly weak, either. See Endgame's smith in #143 for a good example of how to structure it*. Quote
Palathadric Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 The look you make when you find out Pretzel has been running the Wandering Silence from the quiet of Heroica Hall. I bet CMP didn't even know that. Quote

See Endgame's smith in #143 for a good example of how to structure it*. As one of the "Old Guard", if you want the rest of the players-who-aren't-on-your-quest/QM's to love you, do not offer effect upgrades. Not only does this tend to lead towards customized "super weapons" and away from finding cool loot that can become signature items, it also makes balancing that more difficult from a balance perspective when other QM's are having to deal with the player later on down the road. I'd encourage first time QM's to stay away from offering customizing services, focus on your story and making a good quest in general before throwing that sort of stuff in. If you really want to add unique things in, come up with items that will be memorable for the player. Each of Skrall's weapons are important to him not because he designed each one specifically, but because they're hold over's from previous quests, they have history and that is what gives them meaning in his eyes. JimBee Posted June 5, 2016 Posted June 5, 2016 Brine Blade - WP: 5, 1/6 chance to trigger a Flood (see Weather Mage) when dealing damage, Longsword Interesting name for a sword. Quote
Flipz Posted June 5, 2016 Posted June 5, 2016 Interesting name for a sword. IMO, Jinnipher's "Brine Blade" would be better off as the "Bilge Blade", which would fit better with the idea of poisoning/infecting someone. Just my two cents, though. Quote

Just my two cents, though. Not a bad idea, but mine was first. I would also imagine there are more fitting names for a weapon that causes floods. I must also say that Petaldan's Brine Blade is quite the weapon! I didn't realize Flood dealt Slowed to all enemies. In the hands of a Knight it's not that great, but if a Raider or Mystic Knight, or even a Marauder were to wield it, that's a 1/6 chance for Flood on every successful hit. Still balanced IMO but potentially very dangerous. Quote

Like you mentioned, it's Mystic Knight and Marauder SHIELDs you'd have to watch out for. Quote
Palathadric Posted June 5, 2016 Posted June 5, 2016 (edited) My goodness, has raider been nerfed? I really can't say I pay much attention to classes that I can't move into. Edited June 5, 2016 by Palathadric Quote

For something like "1/2 chance of dealing Hexed" you'd roll per enemy, but for something originating from the Hero I'd think it'd run more like the Pheles Kris. Heck, now that I think of it, running it that way would make it be rolled for only once for Marauders and Mystic Knights, too. Quote
Asphalt Posted June 6, 2016 Posted June 6, 2016 Never has immunity to Dark elemental weapons come in so handy for a group of heroes. Quote
Palathadric Posted June 6, 2016 Posted June 6, 2016 "Well, they are in the middle of nowhere, so they do have to hike the cost up - but they are a bit pricey. Well, that's one way of looking at it, I guess. I wonder though, do they have so many customers that they can afford to hike up the price? Quote

Yeah, I still don't get how we're all still standing (not that I'm complaining)-I thought Germ and Kiray are the only ones who are immune to darkness, but does that apply to the whole party now? Palathadric Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 JimB, I'm trying to understand where the Baron's negative view of heroes comes from. Unless I'm missing something, I can only recall Pretzel having a very good relationship with him. Quote

The whole town got kidnapped by an army of synthesized shadow Moon elves and then more heroes sold out one of his citizens against his wishes to a band of assassins.
