I mean a quest where the party goes out of Eubric and goes on a quest, just for adventuring, but they don't gain items or experience. (except for role-playing purposes)

The point being? Can't you just make it a normal quest (in the sense you still level up), with role playing elements interwoven into it?

That's not what I'm talking about. I'm not talking about a real quest. Just one that the person on it runs and it is for role-playing purposes. I'd make the battles, I'd make the story-line. It's just to get to know 1 or 2 heroes better and to further my role-playing. It's not a real quest, just for fun and for role-playing.

I feel so stupid.:wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: HOW did it take me this long to realize that the Houses are named after the Root Admins?!?!

Hinckwells-Hinckley

Shadeaux-Shadows (technically he's in a different group, but the rivalry with Hinckley the Hinckwells gives it away)

Zeigfrieds-Seigfried

Guild of Invision-invision

Bonapartes-Bonaparte (I saw this one right away, but thought it was the only one)

Ji Pei-Jipay

The Ji Pei and the Guild of Invision I could be forgiven for missing, as those two admins aren't really active around this board, and even the Shadeaux, since I just assumed it was from supplementary Fright Knights material that I never knew about (like the Classic Space comics and the like). But the Zeigfrieds? And especially the Hinckwells, since I interacted with Hinckley a ton in commenting about IMHOTEP after he died. :wall:

I feel kinda bad about Arthur badmouthing the Hinckwells now (even though it DOES fit his character)...

You know, Sandy did point this out.

EDIT: Could I come along BAP? If you do :classic: it, of course.

So, I think you're suggesting, a couple of heroes not currently out on a quest don't post in the hall thread of a while. You send a bunch of pm's back and forth with them, perhaps including pictures. Then after a little while they come back to the hall and talk about what they've just been up to. Their stats and inv are exactly the same as when they stopped positing in the hall, but they now know some other heroes a bit better. I can't see a problem with taking time out of the hall, but it seems like an awful lot of work to go through. As always, heroica is a shared world that works best when it's, well, shared. That's why I'm not a huge fan of splitting parties and giving some private pm quests, but that's my own opinion. Sounds like you're going to do something similar?

My question is what do you feel that running it like a quest does that just having discussion about each others' characters in pms doesn't?

Oh, before I forget, How much would it take to buy the Healing Staff off you? Don't worry, I'm keeping a tally of how much I owe you for the rental, but it's proven quite useful, and it'd save me a bundle on Potions over time. Oh, and one last thing, if you see a Monk named Pretzel? Give him a good beatdown, would ya? His Z-mails have touched my last nerve! (Just try not to get caught--I'd hate to see you get in trouble. Too bad there's no gladiator ring at the Hall, you'd have a real reason to challenge him then!)

Your Friend,

--Arthur[/i]

OOC: Don't take it personally, palathadric, I love your roleplaying. Arthur is the one who can't stand it, not me.

That's what role-playing is all about and what makes it fun.

I enjoy pretending to be someone I'm not through Monk Pretzel.

I love the Arthur character. Second to none but Cronk in my opinion. Cronk is hillarious!

Unfortunately Monk Pretzel is not at the hall and even if he were he would not likely accept any challenge in the arena since he is a Monk and men of the cloth are supposed to be against such forms of amusement or anything of the like.

Darn, I really wish I could fight in the arena though, perhaps, once this quest is done with, Monk Pretzel will pull a surprise.

Dak,

Yeah, it's pretty boring sometimes, but it'll pass. I'm doing fine, unless being constantly annoyed by a serious retard is not your definition of 'fine'.

-Alisha

What? Monk Pretzel: a retard? This got to be the biggest complement I ever got.

Guild of Invision-invision

I did miss this one, but I don't think "invision" is really a person or admin, it's the board software provider. But yes these little tributes are cool. The conscientious observer would also notice that WhiteFang has a cameo somewhere in this game...

On that note, I did name a couple NPCs after Staff members (basically I used a list of medieval names and went for alliteration with Staff names). Commodore Martin Largus is named after Hinck. (his real name, not his screen name) Isaac Shawe was derived from ImperialShadows. I remember there was a knight guy in Quest 4 who was named after Fangy, but I don't remember where he was. (don't know if that's the same guy you're referring to, JimB)

I did catch the Shadows reference, I think he had a similar name in an early mafia game. And no, the reference I'm thinking of isn't a person, but a place (The Fang Coast).

Ah.

Oh, and Lord Normorn came from using letters of 'Not Shadows' in a D&D name generator, since Normorn is in intelligence, a similar function to the Shadow Admins.

A "serious retard", at that. I almost addressed it in the return letter, but decided it was a touchy topic. Not wise to insult a Barbarian twice your size, you know!

Let's not call anyone a retard, guys, even if you're referring to someone's character. You can insult a character without insulting the mentally handicapped at the same time. Try it.

Sorry, I couldn't think of another insulting word. Actually, that was my favorite insult a few years back, when I was in 12th grade. The favorite of a lot of my class, actually. Maybe I still conform with that class too much.

Won't happen again, I'll try to think of some other word that insults Pretzel's sanity.

Delusional? Insane? Nuts?

There are many ways to call someone mad without using a insult aimed at poor people who unfortunatly were born with/developed mentel illness. I don't mean to have a stab at you, but please keep this place an internet happy land where no real person is offended.

Sorry if my post was offensive in itself. :classic:

Zepher - What is the drop Zoot's Plaything?

It's the thing some people recieved in Quest #7. It was a lump of clay, that when activated, morphed into a weapon of the user's choice, with the WP being the level of the player when they activated it. If I remember correctly, Cronk's weapon is actually a plaything.

I didn't even know that was what retarded meant before today.

Now it seems a whole lot worse when my cousins from Florida use it to insult people. I might have to tell them what it means next time I see them (Probably in a few months, around Easter, or maybe the beginning of summer), because they might like to know before they use it again.

Completely want!

Yes, Cronk's Zoot's Bane was originally a play thing. (I did infuse the diamond myself, though.) Hybros' Zoot's Reaper was as well.

If I remember correctly, one of the Heroes from Quest #7 still has a Zoot's Plaything listed in their Inventory......

Can't remember which one though. :sceptic:

Is the WP supposed to match your lvl?

When it's first used it transforms into a weapon (type of user's choice) with WP equal to the user's level. The WP does not go up when the user levels, it just sets the original WP. The weapon will also be only useable by the original owner.

Imagine if Tesni got one... WP: 19... :look:

And that is why she shouldn't, as it would sort of mess up the system. I don't think quest foes can cope with WP:19 weapons yet.

And an Extra Critical Hit of 76 Damage. *huh*

I would love to see that.

This Zoot's Plaything will be slightly downgraded, but still a good grab!

1000th post! WooHoo! Count Scorpiox. :sweet:

It's a very cool item Zepher, I like the whole way you have developed the chaos beasts. :classic:
