Tanma Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Imagine if Tesni got one... WP: 19... And that is why she shouldn't, as it would sort of mess up the system. I don't think quest foes can cope with WP:19 weapons yet. Not to mention she already has an awesome sword. Cysgodian also seems to be intelligent, I am not sure how a sapient sword would feel about their partner getting a new stronger blade. Cryfder is inanimate so it might not be threatening to Cysgodian, like how most people won't feel like they were being replaced by a life sized statue, but a weapon of Zoot might come with intelligence. Masked Builder Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 You can have an ancient throwing dagger (WP: 7) too. Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 (edited) Tag says one size fits all! Let me guess, made in Ennon? Is it machine washable? On another note, if a player does not have a weapon suitable to them or no weapon at all, can they still attack an enemy? Just wondering in case someone was dead set on playing a monk type (as in the Shaolin variety) character. Edited February 24, 2012 by Waterbrick Down Quote

Just wondering in case someone was dead set on playing a monk type (as in the Shaolin variety) character. That'd be...unwise. I don't even think there's a rule for that. You could at least use a Sai or a staff or something, couldn't you? Quote

They could, but then you're shifting more into the role of a ninja at least when it comes to pop culture I beleive, as opposed to a hand to hand fighting Kung Fu master. I actually was theorizing about it as another character class, the mechanics would be slighly different when it came to figuring out attack power and they might actually have negative effects when wielding a weapon. Scubacarrot's character was talking about this type of character in the letters thread and I was wondering how one would make them a reality. Quote
Rumble Strike Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 I believe a hand-to-hand combatant would just fight at their level, with no weapon strength added. Not sure if anyone would gimp their character that much for roleplay purposes. Quote
Scubacarrot Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 (edited) For the specialized classes maybe, a class that doesnt use weapons at all, would be kind of interesting. Edited February 24, 2012 by Scubacarrot Quote

You could at least use a Sai or a staff or something, couldn't you? I believe that this scenario was addressed, if you are fighting unarmed your level is just your power. So De'kra would have a Power of 11, if he fought unarmed right now. I like the concept of an unarmed fighter though. Quote
CMP Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 As an expert class, that's not a bad idea. I assumed you meant in general as heroes. Maybe to make up for lack of weapons, misses count as something extra. Quote

I don't think it would be that hard to implement to be honest, the only trouble will be balancing it, since you will have the level being the only power modifier. Quote

Poison Ivy Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Maybe this has been answered before, but what is the level the expert classes are supposed to be unlocked? Probably 25 or so. This discussion about a character who fights hand-to-hand really has me thinking, and caused me to create this enemy: Guardsman Fistfighter Health: _/_ Level: _ Special: Fists of Steel: The Fistfighter hits the target for _ Damage. Drops: Fists of Steel (WP:_, hand-to-hand combat weapon) Thoughts? Quote
Tanma Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Maybe this has been answered before, but what is the level the expert classes are supposed to be unlocked? Over 9000. But seriously, I believe it is level 30. Of course I don't recall Sandy personally ever saying that, so the level 30 thing might just be a rumor I heard. Quote

I think a weapon like that kinda defeats the idea of a class that is different in a way that it does not use weapons, but yeah, thats just my two gold. Quote
CMP Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 So...a class in which every weapon you've had up until that point is totally useless? I don't see the practicality of that. Quote

Brickdoctor Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Sandy never gave a definite answer as to when the Expert Classes would be unlocked. We do know that Sandy decided not to make one of the Advanced Classes a Necromancer, since she said she'd prefer to save that class for the Expert Classes. I know there are also some people (myself included) who want one of the Advanced Classes to be a Bard. Other than that, we don't really know much. Quote
CMP Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Other than that, we don't really know much. I think the idea of a bomb-based Expert class was also brought up. Quote
Fred Daniel Yam Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Slayers would make a pretty cool class as well as bard. Quote
