Sandy Posted February 24, 2012 Author Posted February 24, 2012 I've been feeling quite sick these last couple of days, so aside from going to work I haven't got much anything done. But I've got this weekend totally free, so my quests should really reach their conclusions very soon. Please have patience with me, guys. Maybe this has been answered before, but what is the level the expert classes are supposed to be unlocked? Very little is set to stone with the expert classes yet. I originally thought about Level 30 being the unlocking point, but we'll just have to see how fast people will get there. What I do know is that expert classes will be independent from the basic and advanced classes (but there will be another type of restriction to their availability), and they will include at least classes similar to a bard, a monk, a necromancer, a beastmaster and an alchemist (final names are undediced yet). Hope that will keep up the interest for a while. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Does Alchemist grant you infinite Gold? Quote

So you could have as Assassin with Monk features, or a Paladin who doubles as an Alchemist? On another note, alchemists! Here's to hoping they are like the ones in Fullmetal Alchemist. Does Alchemist grant you infinite Gold? Probably not, as that would ruin the value of gold. Edited February 24, 2012 by Tanma Quote

No, I meant that your basic or advanced class choice will not affect what expert class you can choose (but not all classes will be open to all players, even in that case). I think the advanced classes contain enough "dual classing". Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 (edited) Well I had at least 3/6 already going around in my head before this: Monk, Bard, and Shifter (Beast Master) I'm glad to see they're going to become a reality. Now we've got to figure out a way to get someone there quick, anyone seen any V-cards around lately I theorize it's going to be involved then in someway with your standing amongst the Houses. i.e. Alchemists: Guild of Invision, Necromancer: Ziegfrieds, Monk: Ji Pei, Beast Master: Shadeaux, Bard: Hinckwells, ??: Bonapartes, ??: Wolfgang. Thus if you have really good relations with the Guild of Invision you can't be a Necromancer but you can be an alchemist etc. Edited February 24, 2012 by Waterbrick Down Quote
Scubacarrot Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Anyone thinking Reputation is a factor in what expert classes are open for you? Quote
Flipz Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Anyone thinking Reputation is a factor in what expert classes are open for you? The person above you does, yes. Interesting...I may have to tweak one of Arthur's backstory "plays"--he already was one of those Expert Classes before he came to Heroica. Hmm...idea...lemme check some things before I actually try to do it, though... Quote

RPGer Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Wow, lots of talk about the expert classes lately. Quote

If this is the case I guess one's best option is to stay neutral when it comes to reputation and just stick to quests that don't offer it. Quote

Waterbrick Down Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Maybe the Bonapartes could have a Swashbuckler class Quote

Bricksandparts Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 What if you're in a quest where you switch reputations? Hmm... maybe you can do both of the classes? Quote

Do you think Monk Pretzel could become Bishop then and be head of all spiritual rites. Quote

And there are hints that the Shadeaux leader might be a vampire, which works with Necromancer. I like the theory that relations with the Ji Pei give you the monk ability, it works well with my plans. Of course, now I must resist the urge to make puns about monks and primates. Edited February 24, 2012 by Tanma Quote

I think these monks will be based more on popular culture's portrayal of Shaolin Monks rather than Christian monks. I am also pretty sure they aren't based on Capuchins, a type of monkeys named for the European monks. Which is sad, as Capuchins are awesome. Edited February 24, 2012 by Tanma Quote

I'll have to align myself for Bard or Beastmaster. Here's my planned alliances: Zeigfrieds Ji Pei Shadeaux (unless Bard is Hinckwell, in which case I have no clue which I'd do...) Wolfgang (since there's no appreciable reason for going Town Watch, and it fits my character better.) Quote
UsernameMDM Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 So I guess we need more quests with reputation bonuses. Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Please note that this is all conjecture at the moment Quote
UsernameMDM Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 Please note that this is all conjecture at the moment I know but think it would be neat if expert classes were unlocked by reputation points and not level. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 I know but think it would be neat if expert classes were unlocked by reputation points and not level. I think they'll still be unlocked at least partly with Level. It'd be unrealistic for a Wizard to become a Necromancer at Level 5 just because he completed a quest for someone. Quote

I agree, but if someone completes 3 quests for the same house their level should be up there. That's why I asked early on how reputation would be tracked. Figured it would come in play later.
