TheBoyWonder Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 Hey, if Daxus leaves the quest, we should get someone from the hall. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 I had a player in Quest 4 Taking a Break. I think that they should be left in the Quest and controlled by another member or the QM. Players should only be returned to the Hall if they are Banned or have been inactive for a significant amount of time. (a couple weeks) Quote

But if that's the case, what should happen to Kengis Ghan (Spag) In quest 17? As of tomorrow he'll have been inactive for a month, and I'm not going to give him any rewards if he doesn't stay active, what should happen there? Quote
Flipz Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 (edited) I had a player in Quest 4 Taking a Break. I think that they should be left in the Quest and controlled by another member or the QM. Players should only be returned to the Hall if they are Banned or have been inactive for a significant amount of time. (a couple weeks) Speaking of your Quests... I'd also add that specifc circumstances should be taken into account before sending a player back. In the case of inactivity, especially, it may be fairer to simply "deactivate" the character, letting them gain the Quest rewards if the Quest succeeds, but not giving them any extra experience and loot from battles along the way. As a rule of thumb (from the RPGs I've played in and run, mostly on other sites), if you've been in contact with the player about the absense, it's OK to let their character stay; if you haven't, ship 'em back to base. Of course, I'm a mere player here, so please take my opinion as just that. EDIT: I think the same thing. But if that's the case, what should happen to Kengis Ghan (Spag) In quest 17? As of tomorrow he'll have been inactive for a month, and I'm not going to give him any rewards if he doesn't stay active, what should happen there? Maybe we could somehow get Tensi to magically switch places with him! Edited March 9, 2012 by Flipz Quote

Correction; the player Taking a Break was a fellow hero in Quest 1, when I was Party Leader, not a player I was QMing in Quest 4.Once I get back from my trip and have more time, I'll do something about it if he's not active. Sandy Posted March 9, 2012 Author Posted March 9, 2012 I'm planning one, and once 14 and 15 finish up, I'm sure Sandy will have another quest or two up. I will actually take a break from hosting a quest after wrapping up the current ones in order to host the next Mafia School game (which is due to start by the end of this month), but after that I have several short quests I'd like to play out. I've now learned my lesson on not to host two huuuuuge quests at the same time. Well, at least there's been enough "epicness" to last a good while. Quote
Scubacarrot Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 if the QM mentions out of the blue we don't know if he's awake or asleep, he's probably asleep All I'm going to say: Quote
RPGer Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 Now, I have a chance to get into 3 Quests, only one of which I signed up for. That's not good..... Quote
Bricksandparts Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 I swear you just edited that in, and so did Brickdoctor. Both of you are in a conspiracy! Impossible, it would've said if he editted the post... Quote
Flipz Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 Well, it's that time again... Random question of the day week inteterminate time frame: If Heroica RPG were made into HEROICA RPG: THE MOVIE or HEROICA RPG: THE SERIES, who would be best suited to play your character? (I don't want to hear anybody cop out and say "me", not unless you've had actual acting training and/or experience. ) For purposes of this question, the movie/tv show can be live-action, animated, 3d animated (i.e. toy Story), or even stop-motion animated with real bricks (i.e. Robot Chicken); what's important is the actor/actress who would portray your character (and/or NPCs, for the QMs out there). For me personally, I'd choose Jay Baruchel to portray Arthur; he's funny and has that awkwardness that applies to Arthur (and to me, now that I think of it ), but he can also deliver a solid, powerful dramatic performance. He would be perfect for Arthur. Quote
JimBee Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 Brickdoctor, the Scroll of Sealing doesn't block magic, it blocks any enemy from using there Special Damage move for three rounds. Quote

I'm not really that knowledgeable when it comes to actors and actresses, so I'll suggest another fictitious character. Pete from Darths and Droids should play Bartholomew. Brickdoctor, the Scroll of Sealing doesn't block magic, it blocks any enemy from using there Special Damage move for three rounds. Oh. That's what I get for not looking it up. I assumed that it cast the Sealed effect. Thanks. Quote
JimBee Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 It does cast the Sealed effect. That's what sealing does for enemies. Quote

What a fun question! When I think of who would portray Ellaria the best, I immediately thought of Sophie Turner, who plays Sansa Stark in the Game of Thrones tv-series. She certainly has the looks, the age and the vulnerability of my character. Would you agree? Quote

As of tomorrow he'll have been inactive for a month, and I'm not going to give him any rewards if he doesn't stay active, what should happen there? It is totally alright to kick out inactive players from the quest, but on the other hand their characters can still be used to help the rest of the party as sort of "semi-NPCs". I just want to address how rude it is to sign into a quest and then quit playing in it without saying a word. You should at least have the guts to say "this game isn't for me, I don't want to play anymore" instead of just leaving everyone to wonder where you went. Brickdoctor, the Scroll of Sealing doesn't block magic, it blocks any enemy from using there Special Damage move for three rounds. Here are the effects of the scrolls once again. They can also be found at the Treasury, like nearly all other items. Scroll of Sleep – Enables casting the sleep-effect to the target, forcing it to miss its turn for three rounds or until woken up by an attack. Each casting has a 50/50 chance of success and costs 1 ether. Usable only by mages and clerics. Costs 50 gold. Scroll of Blindness – Enables casting the blinded-effect to the target , making it unable to use a physical attack for the next three rounds. Each casting has a 50/50 chance of success and costs 1 ether. Usable only by mages and clerics. Costs 50 gold. Scroll of Sealing – Enables casting the sealed-effect to the target, making it unable to use a special skill for the next three rounds. Each casting has a 50/50 chance of success and costs 1 ether. Usable only by mages and clerics. Costs 50 gold. Scroll of Confusion – Enables casting the confused-effect to the target for the next three rounds, during which it has a 50/50 chance of targeting an ally instead of its opponents. Each casting has a 50/50 chance of success and costs 1 ether. Usable only by mages and clerics. Costs 50 gold. As you see, some of the effects slightly vary when they are cast on an enemy instead of on a hero. Quote
CMP Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 I should probably change those entries to mention that 50/50 chance of failing. assuming that's still in effect. Quote

Jebediahs Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 For Nur I'd want Marcus Samuelson. He's not an actor but he's good with a knife and on tv. Quote

Well, naturally Thothwick would be played by a man in a suit, ala Chewbacca. But I believe, Jim Carter (best known for his role his role in Downton Abbey as Carson, the butler (if you haven't seen it - see it!), whose voice can be heard here and ) would be the perfect voice over for Thothwick! Well, There are a bunch of great actors to play Althior, but they seem a bit old to do so, Such as Robin Williams. But then there's other actors such as Chris Hemsworth, Johnny Depp, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Chris Evans that would be good too. In the end, I probably have to go with Jake Gyllenhaal. He's the right age, and he can switch from Dark to light easily. Later I'll find an actor for Finnegan. Quote
