I'd love to adopt De'kra.

Eh.....that would be weird, Tammo. De'kra doesn't even know who he really is! Some serious parent/child talks going on....

I can't believe I just noticed this since I'm a broadway buff (ask Tammo!) But you stole took Elphaba's name from Wicked, didn't you Sandy? :look:

I noticed it but thought nothing of it. I thought someone would have pointed it out the first time she showed up.

Gnomeo is supposed to be from Gnomeo and Juliet, too, I think. I bet Portia and Anwyl are in-jokes, too, but I haven't figured them out yet.

Portia could be a Hunger Games referance, but judging by her occupation, that seems unlikely.

Scheherazade, who has not appeared in a long time (Boomingham misses her  ) is from One Thousand and One Nights. I'd also assume Byblos is from the Latin words for library.

...Do I see an adoption in De'kra's future? :look::tongue:

I'd love to adopt De'kra.

...Yeah so my response got kind of weird, since I had just been watching Transformers. Then I got stuck on this "interesting" metaphor and had this weird comment about Agori, so I figured it would be best to spoil the whole thing. I actually considered removing the weird part of the post, before deciding that I spent too much time making it to destroy it. It doesn't say anything important anyway, just know that De'kra sees Tomas more like a mentor than anything and that while the scenerio is unlike, it could work under certain circumstances. However it is extremely unlikely as De'kra doesn'y have concept of close relationships beyond mentor/student, brothers in arms. So you can totally avoid clicking it.

Seriously, don't do it.

Don't go assuming De'kra is a child or immature based on his knowledge of human reproduction, as he mentioned to Tomas he knows the reproduction of the people of his home quite well. Remember, De'kra's past is definitely tied to Bionicle (for the five of you who didn't already know this, I haven't kept it much of a secret) and in Bionicle, Matoran are built, not born. The Matoran methods of reproducing are more like how Cybertronians do it (Through a massive supercomputer or an ancient artifact) than the...violent...way humans breed.

The only know sapient race in Bionicle that might "power-link" are the organic races like Agori/Skrall/the Glatorian species, but word of god refuses to give details. All we know for sure is that those races are mostly organic, live so long they didn't need to breed for ages, can make more of themselves, and can feel love unlike the Matoran. But that isn't much, in fact the latter point means nothing about "spark-forging." Otherwise there would be spider-wolf hybrids running all over prehistoric earth. (there would have been cat-bird hybrids too, but deus ex machina decided to get ride of some of the cast) For all we know Agori gather around pools of water and vomit up genetic material, which mixes and forms larva Agori. So De'kra has really nothing to pool knowledge from. Not to mention it isn't revealed what the normal lifespan for his kind is, so 11 might be close to the limit. He might be near death by old age, and just not remember it.

That said, De'kra does see Tomas as a guide to this strange land, and does invest some emotions into his thoughts, though the same is true for Arthur. De'kra mostly sees Tomas as a mentor, which is a very high level of respect, though not as close as a brother. I don't really see adoption occurring, but if the roleplaying scenerio is believible I can't just ignore it

The name Portia came to my mind because it fits so well with "Potion Shack". Just say all three words aloud and you'll see what I mean.

And Anwyl is of course a distortion of the word "anvil".

I guess I just love to make references and play with words like that.

I'd also assume Byblos is from the Latin words for library.

Byblos is a distortion of the ancient greek word "biblos", which means a scroll or a book.

Time for a new random question!

If Heroica RPG were to be made into a visual medium (i.e. movie, TV show, etc.) what would you prefer to see it as: TV series, movie series, web originals (think The Escapist content like Zero Punctuation or Unskippable), video podcasts, or something else entirely?

Well, it depends on who makes it. Whenever Lego makes tv shows/movies they turn out meh. default_sceptic.gif

However, if somehow we were able to create the episodes with Lego's help, or permission, I think a TV show would be awesome! Perhaps we could even base some of the episodes off of the quests in this board. (It would be pretty sweet to see Erdathcath up on the TV screen! default_laugh_new.gif)

A Tv series would work best so each quest could get an episode.

Webcomic, of course. I'm debating whether I'd rather have it done by Rich Burlew or David Morgan-Mar. Illustrations by Greg Hyland.

The only viable adaptation would be a video game, in my opinion. Movie-games and Game-movies are 95% of the time bad. It should not be done. The biggest reason for this is that movie characters in a game are boring, interaction will be one-sided, the character is often designed around a 2 hour movie. The opposite is also very true, if you would turn Heroica RPG into a movie, you would have characters with so many aspects, that they would either lead to looking uninteresting, or unsympathetic, both of which are bad for a movie.

Not sure, but however the adaptation is done I think the cast shouldn't be rendered too humanoid. They need to keep some of their simplistic Minifigure charm, and using live action actors for instance would diverge from that. Cartoon animation or a webcomic might work, but if it is a Lego web comic it would be kind of redundant. It also shouldn't be OOTS style because that is just unoriginal, but something similar in simplicity might work. I am not sure how it would look in manga/anime style, but I worry that the characters might still be too humanoid unless they are constantly chibi. However I am not sure how feel about the characters in chibi style, as it might conflict with some of Heroica's themes. Then again we are talking about Lego figures.

Talk about conflicted!

OMG what if they all worked together. I'd add Dave Rapp of Brick Earth Saga to that list, he's pretty good as well.

You know, when heroes start talking in the middle of battle, and start having entire discussions, I always get a mental picture of the heroes running in circles, talking with the enemies chasing them.

You may have saved the fort, but you've ruined its property value by exposing it to erosion...in a few years it probably won't be worth saving again.

Loot and XP, that's all that matters. :sweet:

Do Bedrolls allow Ether to be regained, or just Health? I seem to remember a Quest in which Ether was regained, but the Rules and the description in the Marketplace only mention Health.
