Sisco Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 Brickdoctor stop having frickin' beautiful pictures you're going to make me look awful. He's already making mine look like a four-year-old's... Quote
Tamamono Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 Wow Doc, the pictures for this quest are gorgeous! I especially love the crescent moon made out of cheese slopes. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 He's already making mine look like a four-year-old's... Make 'em better, then! After all, we represent the RA! Wow Doc, the pictures for this quest are gorgeous! I especially love the crescent moon made out of cheese slopes. Got the idea from eilonwy77 on flickr. (otherwise known as the world's foremost expert on cheese mosaics) Speaking of the moon, I think it moved a little too far to the right in the second pic. Quote
Sisco Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 Make 'em better, then! After all, we represent the RA! Yeah, I know. I'm working with a new setup. We've recently re-arranged the house... Quote
swils Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 Love the concept of nights, doc & cap'n (and doc, *love* the random-encounter system you're using). In the quest I've been piecing together, I've got something of a time limit in place, where days are broken into fourths (say, "Visit the local mage for the afternoon" or "Spend the day investigating the forest (morning, afternoon, evening)"). Do either of you have any plans/thoughts on suspension of omniscience when party members are split up? Like, group A discovers something, and the next logical step would be to do some particular action over in building 1, where, conveniently, group B is currently heading to. Should group B be able to take that action, despite having no way of *knowing* that's what needs to be done? For my own part, I was considering just sidestepping the whole issue by having some NPC (perhaps the local mage, haha) enchant the party with a psionic link for the duration of the quest. Magical walkie talkies! Quote

Zepher Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 Quest is up! Not as pretty as Brickdoctor's, but she'll do. I'm excited. Oh yeah, mine's a decision making quest! Have fun Corny! And all the rest of yah! Quote

CorneliusMurdock Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 Cronk best party leader ever! Cronk try really hard. Cronk not sure if trying to manage four rogues such a good idea... Quote
Sandy Posted September 21, 2011 Author Posted September 21, 2011 Note to especially the newer players: you can only get chosen into one quest at a time (since your character cannot physically be in two places at the same time), so there is no need to remove your sign-ups from other quests once you get accepted into one. So don't worry, you are not taking anyone's place by signing into several quests. Quote
Darkdragon Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 Apologies if this has been covered before, I've been trying to keep up but sometimes things slip past me. Question: How does a player go about using the Shovel during a quest? My idea was (obviously if we aren't in battle) to post something like "I'll search down by that large rock to see if there is any treasure to dig up" Then maybe the QM would roll dice or something to see what I found? Something like that, but there doesn't need to be die rolling involved (this isn't D&D, after all). The QM can just decide if you found anything. There can also be quests geared towards using shovels, with treasure maps etc. Quote

While true, Thormanil *was* walking past the quest board on his way out, anyway.. barely took an extra moment to scratch it out! Heh Quote

Quest 4 does have some things you can dig up, and you can tell me you'd like to try digging somewhere anytime you want when we're not in battle. Just note that digging some places will have consequences (digging in the fenced-off areas of the Eubric plains could very well result in being attacked by an angry farmer, for example). Quote
Tanma Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 When you lose a quest, do you keep the experience and items you earned in battles? Or do you lose them like any reward you were given to complete the quest? In short, if you lose the quest is it like you never went on one at all? Quote

Of course you can keep the experience and items you gain during a quest, even if it fails. You just won't get the promised reward. I'm adding this question to the FAQ. Be sure to check it out from time to time, guys! Quote
Scorpiox Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 Continuing from the previous question, do you lose the reward even if you are given it early like in Quest #3? Quote
Tanma Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 And now I have been immortalized with two questions on the FAQ. Still, good to know that even if I mess-up big time I still kget to keep the objects I did earn. Quote
TheBoyWonder Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 The one thing I find annoying is, we are waiting for a reply from someone, then I see they are reading the thread, and then they do not post. What is the logic? Quote

What is the logic? Maybe they are at work or on a device they can read but not post. Or maybe they are not really reading but have left a browser on the page at home. No need to be in such a rush Quote

Well done Brickdoctor! Quote
Sandy Posted September 21, 2011 Author Posted September 21, 2011 Continuing from the previous question, do you lose the reward even if you are given it early like in Quest #3? Yes, of course. The QMs have the power to take away items that they've given you, after all. If Quest#3 would have been failed, the party would have lost all the gems they had been given at the start of the quest, because they were part of the reward. Quote
