Scubacarrot Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 We need to get Guts, Dak and Knifk into that Quest together. Underground Hero Power Trio, anyone? Yes! That would be amazing! Quote
Hinckley Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 A reminder to those of you putting Mafia/Heroica/History Forum Guild resumes and stats in your signatures: Signatures: As a rough rule, you may use up to four pictures each with a maximum pixel height of 200, a file size of 250k and no more than 200 words. If your sig is bigger than your average post, it can confuse someone reading a thread and you may be asked to reduce it, or a staff member may do it for you. Some exceptions may be made on a case by case basis, but please try to limit the space you use. Font size should be kept to a minimum: ideally no bigger than size 3. No animated GIFs are to be used in your signatures. Perhaps a better place for these stats is your user profile. Generally, your signature should not be much taller than 200 pixels and many of you are pushing that, trying to promote your guild/character/or gaming history. Please put an end to this trend. Thank you. Quote

I'm not trying to cause trouble here, but this is one of those things where I'd like to be told if my signature needs to be changed, otherwise, to me anyways, I won't know if mine's okay or not. But that's just me. Quote
Hinckley Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 The total height of your pictures is 177 pixels. You have a little more text thrown in there, so it's a little over 200, which is inline with the general rule. Yours is fine. A lot of times, it's just up to a bit of common sense. Err on the side of smaller. We have profiles now for the more lengthy info. There was a member here who had a picture in his sig that was bright red. It was only 200 pixels tall but we got complaints about it all the time. I kindly asked him to make it smaller due to the complaints, fully admitting he wasn't breaking any rules, but I was sick of getting complaints. He very politely complied, but it just goes to show, some things are just annoying in signatures. I'm getting complaints now about people's lengthy Heroica signatures. Maybe it would be better to put all your quests and info on your profile page and stop the trend of putting it all in your signatures. That would be nice. But, for the most part, all I ask is that you follow the Site Guidelines. Quote

Except that the players are inclined to keep their crucial statistics (as listed in the game rules) in their signatures, so that the quest hosts don't always have to click through the player profiles to see the stats. Some players have hidden the text behind footnotes, which is a clever way to keep the signature clean. The essential information can be crammed into one or two lines of text, anyway. Quote
Tanma Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 "MegaBlokin' MegaBloks, that Mage possesses knowledge centuries ahead of his time! (QM Note: Literally. ) "This new development is going to make Mage Althior virtually unstoppable!" Arthur Justus Regulus VII has gained a Level of XP! "I must commend the Knight for the calm, non-violent way he acquired Mage Althior's approval to use the Garnet. He evidently possesses advanced knowledge of the functions of the brain, and that was an excellent demonstration of thinking outside the box to get around one of the Voice in the Sky's technicalities." Alexandre le Chevalier has gained a Level of XP! Why didn't you reward players like that in Quest 4? (cue quivering lip and puppy eyes) But seriously I am joking, Quest 17 is designed in a very different way from Quest 4, and XP rewards makes more sense with Quest 17. Although we could have gotten a Island Tour achievement or something, as we walked all over Uland.. Still joking here. Quote
Scubacarrot Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 So what Im wondering is, would something like my signature be fine? I can understand that some people are pushing it, but I'm sure not all? Quote

As I've already stated, as long as it's in line with the Site Guidelines, it's cool. Quest host convenience aside, we will have to do something different if complaints keep coming in. Any help from the coordinator of Heroica would be greatly appreciated. So what Im wondering is, would something like my signature be fine? I can understand that some people are pushing it, but I'm sure not all? I'm not going to answer everyone's request for signature approval. I don't have time for that. You can read the Site Guidelines, and you saw me apply them to Masked Builder's signature. I trust everyone can figure this out on their own with the Guidelines and the example I already provided. I don't think I was opposing what you said. I merely said that some of the Heroica information on the signatures are there because I requested so, but the required information should easily fit into a tighter space if need be. Quote
Hinckley Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 I don't think I was opposing what you said. Except it looked like it. But yes, I like the idea of asking your players to keep it to one or two lines. That seems like the perfect solution. Thank you. Quote
Tanma Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 Now I have a ton of information/items, to the point that my gear alone is two lines, not counting pictures, stats, and so on. There isn't really a way for me to narrow it down to two lines. Is it okay if I hide that information in spoilers, that way all the data is there but it isn't as distracting? Quote

I think that is actually a very good way of doing it, that way, its still easily accessable(except for those using phones, my phone doesnt open them, at least) and nobody can complain about it... Brickdoctor Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 Why didn't you reward players like that in Quest 4? (cue quivering lip and puppy eyes) Well, you guys did get, if I remember correctly, around ten levels of XP out of battles in Quest 4. Quote

I like it too. The acronym function is nice, but QM's have a hard time copying and pasting stats from them. Quote
Scorpiox Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 I've placed my Mafia Roles in a Spoiler, so that my sig is smaller. Quote
Bricksandparts Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 I was the first one to do the spoiler Idea, but then Superkalle told me he thought it made the sig look strange and decided to change it. Until we hear more about this issue, I'll keep my sig this way. Quote

Brickdoctor Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 That was the easiest Round I've ever GMed in the Arena. But really, what was the point of both combatants doing nothing? It's not as if Alf was in any danger, and the situation isn't going to get better for Drake if he camps out in the Back Row and does nothing. Quote
