Darth Nihilius, I'm kind of annoyed about Dak and his new companion. I feel like you've condensed most of the roleplaying I've done with my character up to this point into roughly 5 or 6 posts, and I'm a little upset at it. I don't want to sound rude, but I feel like just thrown the whole thing in as an afterthought whereas I've had it planned for quite a while. The premise behind Glym, I feel, is nearly identical to the one behind McCafferey. :sceptic: It might just be me, but that's the way I'm seeing it.

Zepher made a fantastic point about this sort of thing a while ago, but after 20 minutes of trawling a 430-odd page topic with a sluggish Eurobricks, I've been unable to find it...

Sorry if it seems that way, actually, I was trying to go for a whole different premise there. What I was trying to do is make Glym seem like the darker, more violent side of Dak, just condensed into a snake. Thus, whereas Dak swears seldom, and if he does, not using extremely bad words, Glym swears often, and in extremely bad ways. Whereas Dak does try to avoid conflict with fellow Heroes as well as his enemies, Glym trys to get him into it. He often insults people, not just Dak, and he seems drunk most of the time, going about and trying to get Dak to pick fights or go against his basic nature. He's going to try and convince Dak to become a Sorcerer, I think, and try to get him to give in to his darker side. Overall, though, he's just some random drunk who insulted the wrong person, turning him into a snake. The "Higher Powers Above", as he calls them, are basically just the people he thinks are responsible for all this; the gods. His name is rubbish too, as he basically just made it up on the spot for his own amusement, to see if Dak is really as gullible as he thinks. Again, sorry if that's what it seems like at first, but it's going to change for sure, especially once Dak is staying back at the Hall to wait for Alisha.

Damn it, there went all my role-playing.

That's pretty much the exact premise behind McCafferey, minus the finer details. :sceptic: McCafferey edges Atramor more to the violent violent side, though in a more Lawful Evil kind of way, trying to get him to manipulate and use his allies to his advantage, etc, and I think I mentioned McCafferey was going to be the one to convince Atramor to become a Witch. She, too, works for a higher power, though in a more directly and mundane way.

Damn it, and I thought I came up with something original for once. Although, as I said, he's mainly just a spiteful person who crossed a wizard one time too many, and obviously, got turned into a snake for his trouble. He's pulling the wool over Dak's eyes most of the time, and insulting people left and right, just like he did when he was human. More impoortantly, though, he doesn't actually work for a "higher power", he just is implying that he does. In no way are any of his words the truth, more they are carefully concealed lies, letting on a lot that is meant to confuse Dak. He's not going to be around long, though; I have been looking over your posts, and I agree with you; I didn't mean to make him so similar, it just ended up that way. I think he's not going to talk at all for a while, and then, when Dak is out of the mine, he's going to check the bag ot find that Glym is gone, off to find some other poor soul to torment.

Sorry about the slow reply! Just catching up after a bunch of other stuff going on.

Thanks for the quest #14 Sandy, it was a lot of fun!

I'll be catching up in the Hall in the next day or so.

Docken, you are going to be impossible to fight between your shield and your dread hat.:tongue:

Boomingham has a good chance at winning. Scoring critical hits with your darkness blade will slowly chip away at him. Pick up a scroll of confusion and hope he crits himself.

Any way the 50/50 chance of successful application of the confusion scroll could be removed? Its applied effect already has another 50% chance of activating. :hmpf:

No, scrolls are STILL overpowered. In my opinion, it is better to leave them like this.

I thought about that too, and for simplicity's sake I agree with you. If my poor math is correct, there's only 25% chance of the confused enemy to actually hit an ally, which seems underpowered.

Maybe I should raise the ether cost of the scroll spells to balance their use? Would 5 ether be too much?

Maybe try rebalancing it for each scroll? Sealing is less gamebreaking than Blindness, which is less gamebreaking than Confusion, etc.

Unfortunately, that would require more work for you. Hmm...well, if you need to run some test battles, I'm your guy.

I really don't think any of the effects are "gamebreaking", otherwise I would not have included them. It is true though that spamming and piling the effects on the enemies the party can win without a sweat. That's why there is a limit on how long the effect lasts before it has to be cast again, and nowadays there's also a chance the spell fails. I am willing to increase the ether cost to prevent spamming, but as always this system needs to be as simple as possible, so I'm not going to rank the scrolls or give an individual ether cost to them.

There's already almost too many factors to take in for a human being. I'm glad there's an edit-button to cover up all those times I've screwed up the battle results.

Sorry this is late. I've been ill recently, so I was only viewing not posting, in case I posted something odd in my light headed state!

Great Quest Sandy! It was a great length, managing to keep me interested, without over staying it's welcome. Thanks for giving me Hoptet, too! Just a few questions about the Quest:

  1. If we returned to the port at night, would we recieved anymore rumours, like the one Jaws gave us?
  2. Would there of been any way of convincing Baba to release Bluto?
  3. What would of happened had we gone to the Guild of Invision first?
  4. Do Scaro and Hoptet now have the ability to go on Quests as NPCs, or will they serve a future purpose?

1) The nightly rumours were there to guide you in the right direction, since there were quite a lot of options for you guys. They were not prewritten.

2) No, although I would've let you fight her if you would've chosen to. Of course she would've been unbeatable.

3) At the Guild of Invision you would've met Madame Ladybug who would've given you the ingredients, but instead of an undead unicorn's horn they would've given you a common unicorn's horn, which would've allowed Abraxas to take over Zelda and turn her into a demon as well. This would've happened if you had taken the unicorn's horn too soon in the menagerie, too. You would've been forced to kill Zelda, but you would've gained improved reputation with the alchemists.

Here's the stats for the demonic Zelda:

Bride of Abraxas

Type: Demon

Level: 25

Health: 666/666

Special I:
Pride
– Transfers 6 health from each opponent to self.

Special II:
Prejudice
– Causes blinded-effect to all opponents.

Special III:
Perdition
– Instantly knocks out the target.

Drops: Veil of Sin (protects from sealed-effect)

Note: Special skills will alter in the listed order.

4) I have no future plans for Hoptet, so he's all yours. You can't take him with you on quests, though. As for Scaro, you'll just have to wait and see.

Oh god, that seems a bit too overpowering! If they had gone up against her they probably would have easily been beaten and they probably would've failed the quest.

So glad we didn't have to fight her!

How close were we to being too late?

Thothwick lead Hoptet into the library by the hand, and up to Byblos. Thothwick turned upon stepping through the door. "See Hoptet, we're far from the only Metasimians dwelling the Eubric Freeport.

There is a whole gang, you know.

You had seven full days to spend in Salmanda before Zelda would've perished, so you ended up having one full day to spare.

Error detected! Doc, Docken should be Level 20 1/3, but you put him as Level 20.5.

You're right, but that was my fault. One of the rewards for completing Quest#14 was a full level, but I forgot to take the scaled experience into consideration. Since Docken will get one third of a level from battles from now on, his level should be 20 and 1/3.

I feel bad about being rather inactive for the last few days of the quest. Life has been, well, life, and it's been difficult enough to just stay as active as I have been in the mafia game. Plus, the rest of the gang seemed to be handling the last few interactions just fine on their own

That said, thanks for hosting, Sandy! Really well thought out quest with a captivating story, interesting twists, plus decisions that really had an effect on the outcome of the quest. Great rewards, both exp- and item-wise. The items especially, offering us a sizable power increase without any complicated effects and such. Hope I don't sound too cliche in my review, because it's all true.

Also, thanks to Doc, darkdragon, and the Professor, was a pleasure questing with you all
