Which brings me to another question that I was going to ask at the end of the quest, but fits right in here: would there be interest in my hosting, in the future, another location defense quest with this degree of freedom in actions?

Defense, no.... :innocent:

If there was a problem with this XP system, Sandy would have said something. She hasn't.

I'm alright with it, if it's kept at moderation and not applied to every quest out there. Especially in quests with plenty of battles in them, giving levels from figuring out something should not be necessary.

Can somebody clear up this? I don't understand. Isn't Sandy a he, not she?

Now there's a puzzle for you to solve.

Why assume it is only those two options? Human are not a binary, Sandy could be a xe as well. And technically you can't be sure someone on the internet is human, Sandy could secretly a member of an alien are with seven reproductive groups. And those options are ignoring the possibility of computerized intelligence, do we have proof that Sandy is not a robot? Can we take anything for granted about anyone online? And more importantly, does it matter?

Yes, Quest 17 was incredible. I won't want to the hypothetical quest to be too close to Quest 17's though, that way you can't just steal the Quest 17 heroe's ideas and plans. But I definitely would be interested in such a game, provided De'kra doesn't loose any of his gear.

As long as you don't get mad when we use the incorrect-gendered pronouns when referring to you. :look::tongue:

Agreed. Direct copies of quests seem horridly unoriginal, but the diea behind Quest 17 was amazing, and I'd love to see something like it again. A mix between the second half of Quest 19 and Quest 17 would be gold.

I'm pretty sure that you are a woman. Now what do I win?

Unless you lied to Zepher and Shadows in your EB News interview. :look:

I would love to see a quest along the lines of this: There is a fortified castle, that needs to be captured, for some reason. The heroes are given a handful of npcs, to train or to work, several things to start with, an explorable land/island and a couple of game-months (?). During this time, they need to prepare for the assault as best they can, being as creative and resourceful as they can be. What do people think?

Sort of like the opposite of Quest 17, then? That would be great. Leave them stranded on an island and make them find a way to survive at the same time they plan the assault. Gilligan's Island-style.

Haha, if I did that I would've exploded from madness a long time ago.

But if I'm a woman, am I lying in my profile, then?

The plot thickens...

Maybe 'Sandy' is two people! It would explain so much!

Well, I am a Gemini, so I often feel like there's two different people inside my head.

Okay, so, if my logic is correct, guys hate being called girls, so, if we call the he/she/whatever a girl and they don't care, they're a girl, if they get overly PO'd about it, he/she's a guy. :sweet:

But what if I'm a gay guy who does not care about pretentious gender borders? Would it affect your logical process?

Well, now you said in the EB interview that your a FFOL and that you got engaged to your boyfriend recently, but I have no idea. Easy way to figure out, attend Brickworld.

Ah, but what about those MMO gamers who play as females when in real life they are male? We already have that in Heroica, so we can't rule out that Sandy is just roleplaying as one or the other. I can see someone getting a kick out of doing so, or rather watching us speculate on it.

We also need to determine if we mean biology male and female, or cultural male or female. In western society gender and sex are too often confused, and used interchangably. This is not the case in all societies, so we need to keep the difference in mind.

Likewise we should factor in the possibility of intersex, since they make up about 4% of humans. (most in the west have one set of their reproductive organs cut out as a newborn-infant though) Note that it is hard the gauge the percentage of intersex individuals, so the 4% stat might be off.

Finally we need to understand how we got so off topic, and get back to discussing Heroica

Quick questions about healing staff.

Apologies if these have been covered before. I went looking but info is buried under multiple walls of text.

It's a weapon, so it can hurt enemies?

It's a weapon, so it can be upgraded?

To heal in combat involves "attacking" an ally, healing an amount equal to wp?

Does it use ether?

Can it hurt undead?

Can it be used outside combat, if so, how?

Anything else I need to know if using it as a cleric?

Thanks in advance!

I think I can get them all, but someone correct me if I'm wrong on any of them.

Yes it can hurt enemies, but unless the enemy is undead then it will heal them.

Although I don't think an answer for this exists yet, I would say that it probably can be upgraded.

WP+Lv

No it does not use ether.

Yes it hurts the undead instead of healing them.

No it can not be used outside of combat.

If you've got a weapon stronger than the staff and you've got ether to spare heal without it, otherwise in a tight pinch when your ether is running low it's a great tool.

I think it's been used outside of combat, actually, just to heal allies.

Yeah, I let K-nut do that once in Q17 until I found out that it couldn't be used outside of combat.

Thanks for the prompt replies.

So, in answer to the first question, you can hit enemies, but unless they're undead, it will heal them.

All up, it's not an essential item for a cleric..
