Brickdoctor Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 I really hope the same does not happen with Loren Hinckwell and Nuitan Shadeaux, I MUST go on their Quest and I MUST go on a Wren Quest (and I must have a chance to go back and see her again at a later point, so I have to go oon this one). And I've got to get back, cash in hand, in time to sign up for this and buy stuff from Elphaba...Doc! Get the battle going already! I'm going, I'm going! Quote
Flipz Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 You know, I've written up a "strategy guide" to the six basic classes, and I plan to do further in-depth analysis on the Advanced Classes later. Should I post them here, in the QM's Lounge, or in their own topic? Quote
UsernameMDM Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 ALSO: Heads up to heroes... or rather, players. Sign-ups for the next Wren quest will be up about a week from now... maybe a tiny bit more. Man! If I would have known, I would have waited! Quote
Zepher Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 Like I said, there will be tons more chances, though I'm really hoping for some returning heroes. Quote
Flipz Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 Note to self: from now on, sleep will be retroactive, so as to allow for more roleplaying time. I really like Count Knyghton, any chance he'll show up again in the future? Quote
Sandy Posted March 31, 2012 Author Posted March 31, 2012 Hmm, Ok, here is my view of the thing. When I designed it in it's first stage, I tried to make it balanced. Sandy said it was not, so I nerfed it, by adding the ether cost. From my point of view? The 1/6 chance is small enough for me to not have it warrant an ether cost, but this is what Sandy requested. I tried to give the weapon a fun effect, and I feel both the chance, and the fact that the creature is not actually that powerful, make it so that it was balanced enough. But for the third time, Sandy said it was not. So yeah, if it were up to me, I would have it as it was originally, but unless I hear otherwise, that is what you are stuck with. Alright, if you make it so that the book only summons one spider per battle (that can be resummoned if it dies), and it costs 1 ether per summoning, I'm willing to let Pandora keep the item. But my main gripe with the item really was, like swils said, that your description of the item was lacking, making it seem unbalanced. I want to encourage creativity in this game, but I hope everyone understands that the more different mechanics are stacked on this, the more complex it becomes to manage. Quote
swils Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 So I know I just gave Thormanil an overhaul (including a new face, which is actually the one I'd originally wanted to use), but I think there's going to be a second wave of adjustments in the coming days I'd considered getting an orc torso for him, but decided to stick with the shirtless look. Who needs shirts, anyway? Haha. I think I'll be making the slight change of swapping the plain barechest with the new Jungle Boy chest print, due to the claw-necklace. In addition, I might just grab the hairpiece off that CMF as well, because I'm not huge on the cloak, but I don't have any fitting hair molds, nor helmets, to use. We'll see what I leave the store with, tomorrow morning Quote
RPGer Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 Hey, Cronk, what's wrong with your username? And Cronk has Diplomacy.... Quote
JimBee Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 Swils, I personally liked how Thormanil looked before with his helmet and previous face, but that's just me. I also liked the twin axes, but the staff seems to fit the role of Shaman better. Quote
CorneliusMurdock Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 Hey, Cronk, what's wrong with your username? And Cronk has Diplomacy.... Cronk is not I_-I_-+='s username. What are you talking about? Quote
Pandora Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 Yo scuba! I was just in the middle of posting (and taking a bit of time over it) and you just jumped in with a battle! Surely you would have seen that I was posting????? Surely? Quote

CMP Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 But... I can't edit my posts. Thanks a lot, douchebag january jagoff's wiener. Vengeance. Quote
Flipz Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 I'm scared to even roleplay in the Quest today, I'm scared of the profanity mad-libs thingy. Oh, and, 1000th post! Woohoo! Quote
swils Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 Swils, I personally liked how Thormanil looked before with his helmet and previous face, but that's just me. I also liked the twin axes, but the staff seems to fit the role of Shaman better. Well, thanks The face&helmet were both placeholders, and I've never actually been a fan of that helmet style, it's just what I had on hand. I didn't want him to be bald, but didn't have any fitting helmets or hairpieces. The face I'm using now is actually the face I'd had in mind from the get-go. To me, that smirk just exudes smugness/confidence, which is how I always wanted Thormanil to be seen--a confident, headstrong, if a bit brash/hasty, barbarian. And now he's quite sure of himself, and in his decision to take on a healer-role, so it seemed like a fitting time to introduce the "original" headpiece. Quote
Flipz Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 "Cinna, are you alright?" Cinna slumps to the floor. "I need a Cleric over here NOW!" Durkon kneels beside her, taking a healing kit out from his pouch. Oh god. For the last time: you cannot control other users' characters without their permission!! Quote
RPGer Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 I know, I don't think darkdragon would mind. darkdragon, if you don't like this tell me. Quote

This sort of thing is were you have to get permission first, if you are so desprate to roleplay devopl your heroe as a character not use heroes without their permission Quote
Darkdragon Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 please don't control my character. thanks in advance. Quote
Scorpiox Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 This sort of thing is were you have to get permission first, if you are so desprate to roleplay devopl your heroe as a character not use heroes without their permission This is the third time he's done it. RPGer is a menace. RPGer, please develop your own character in your own way. If you really must, then ask before involving someone else. Funnily enough it is possible to roleplay on your own, and Durkon will remain a shallow character if the only thing you do is have brief and unreleted sentances. If you continue then unfortunatly most people will just ignore your posts in the hall. Please don't carry on with this. Quote
Flipz Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 (edited) If you continue then unfortunatly most people will just ignore your posts in the hall. Who says anything about just the hall? RPGer, roleplaying is mostly about creating a character and then deciding how they will react to what others do. You don't have to create extra drama, just wait and it will appear. The fact that it takes so long to develop a character is part of what makes roleplaying a fun and interesting challenge; characters can change ad develop over time, in response to what other users' characters do and say, and that takes time. Real life isn't all drama and excitement, is it? The same is true for roleplaying, you often have to wait for that perfect moment, but when it finally appears, you have roleplaying gold. Tanma's character De'kra is a goldmine of good roleplaying, as is CorneliusMurdock's character Cronk, and Scorpiox's character Skrall (among many others, these are just off the top of my head ), look to them for examples of not just dramatic character acting, but believable responses to the other characters around them. Just my two cents. Edited April 2, 2012 by Flipz Quote
Rumble Strike Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 I don't want to appear harsh, but it is basic, common courtesy not to involve other characters in your roleplaying without prior permission. Three strikes and you're out? Quote

Three strikes and you're out? Guess what? He's involved people in his roleplay without their consent three times. Quote
Rumble Strike Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 That was the whole point. To do that three times, when after the first and second times several people carefully explained to him why it was a bad idea and impolite to do it, well, it's clear that he just doesn't get it. Quote

Scorpiox, you still have to ask me if you want to use Skrall for your roleplaying Quote
