Jebediahs Posted April 8, 2012 Posted April 8, 2012 @That_Guy: Nice to see a Light user that isn't holy/ennoc-centric. I don't doubt that they could take him down, although the thing does worry me is that this is pretty much just the beginning of the quest. That could be an indication that the worst is yet to come. I hope so. That is why I had signed up for the quest. While others were turned off by the small reward offered, I knew there was more to the quest since it was asking for level 10+ players. And an interesting battle has presented itself. Quote
JimBee Posted April 8, 2012 Posted April 8, 2012 I think you Quarry Questers are in serious trouble here, that dragon has a raft of specials and such high level and health. Actually I would much rather the party take a bunch of special attacks than one hit due to "Damage" from the dragon. Especially since the lightning attack is beneficial to the party. I do agree with Jeb here, the odds aren't impossible. The good thing is that there's only one enemy, so we can take our time chipping away at its health without having to worry about free hits. And we have two rogues, as well as smoke bombs, if we need to flee. Quote
Bricksandparts Posted April 8, 2012 Posted April 8, 2012 (edited) Does anyone think the variables I'm adding to my battles in quest 25 make the battle more interesting? I have more variables for future battles in the quest, so I hope you like them. This is concerning quest 26: I think the battles really not that hard, just have the deadly venom on the weapon and then one person attacks that's lucky, it shouldn't be that bad actually. UsernameMDM Posted April 8, 2012 Posted April 8, 2012 (edited) Hate to be a Debbie Downer, but I'm against giving a player extra exp for surviving a battle just because they are a lower level. We all earned where we are at, and I didn't give the level 1 player in Quest 20 extra although he faced multiple strong enemies. As far as the mechanics go I think the rock formation is a bit backwards. I think fighting from the high ground should give a bigger advantage to the back row. I like the extra work but I would give options instead of leaving it open ended for time sake. That is just my opinion and style though. Edited April 8, 2012 by UsernameMDM Quote

Bricksandparts, please do not change the core mechanics of this game like that, it is unfair to other players who have fought their way through stacks of enemies yet still gained only one level (or less) per fight. I do like adding the height difference into the battles as a flavour, but I won't make an additional rule about it. Please beware adding too many new variables, though, or your battles might soon become unmanageable. Quote

I hear you out, I wasn't expecting you to make another rule about it, I just added it to give a twist to the battle. I have one more battle really revolved around a movement variable, but I don't want to give too much away about the quest. The party could fight traditionally, but fighting from the rock gives more advantages to melee fighters. Quote
Bricksandparts Posted April 8, 2012 Posted April 8, 2012 I have some Ideas for some effects: Weaken - reduced damage dealt by half Cripple - makes all damage received doubled Unlucky - makes lucky rolls regular rolls and regular rolls choose the worse result Quote
UsernameMDM Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 Yup! That's just one of the reasons I picked mystic knight! Quote
Shadows Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 Attention all Heroica Players Please see this topic. Thanks! Quote
Sandy Posted April 9, 2012 Author Posted April 9, 2012 Welcome to the game, That_Guy! Glad to have an errand god joining our ranks. You are our 82nd player. Quote
Bricksandparts Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 (edited) So I suppose I am the first QM to have a player banned during a quest, and the first that had a QM (Edit) Party leader banned, making me the first to hold an election for party leader? This is getting so complicated. I don't even see what Mibbiwocket did... Probably something in PM to Hinckley is my guess. Edited April 9, 2012 by Bricksandparts Quote

TheBoyWonder Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 I made an update to my last post in Q24. The true path of Leo Aragon is revealed. Quote
Bricksandparts Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 Which QM was banned? No, I'm the first QM to have a player in my quest banned and have the Party leader banned. They were both the same person. Quote
UsernameMDM Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 So are epulets going to be a mystic knight thing? ;) Too bad Leo doesn't have a cape too! Quote
TheBoyWonder Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 I had the minifigure already assembled before, just had to re-read the class description. Quote
UsernameMDM Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 No, I'm the first QM to have a player in my quest banned and have the Party leader banned. They were both the same person. Go reread what you types. Makes it sound like you were on a quest that had the QM banned. Quote
