Thanks for the guide, Flipz, looking forward to more. :sweet: A few things that I had different thoughts on (pertaining to Rogue, since of course it is what I know the most of out of the classes). First, there's really no advantage outside of roleplaying for a Rogue to pay off a Barbarian or Mage for protection. We're perfectly capable of fighting for ourselves, and have the income to afford stockpiles of potions and enhancing consumables. And like CallMePie pointed out, Mages/Barbarians can't really "protect" Rogues since the dice rolls are independent.

In addition to this, like you say, Rogues really are Jacks-of-all-Trades. They can fight from the front or the back and have the cash flow to maintain upgrades for multiple weapons (as well as Nostrums and Meads to keep scoring high-powered Mugs). And their ACs seem to adopt more of the other class of the hybrid, rather than enhancing rogue-like traits.

One other thing I'd like to point out is that you assess each class individually, when in reality the successful completion of quests and battles relies on a team effort. All basic classes work well with each other. A Knight supports the team by protecting with his/her shield, a Cleric heals, a Mage can disable enemies, and Barbarians, Rogues, and Rangers can deal good amounts of damage. Also, when you buy consumables (like Phoenix Essences), you're buying them for your teammates and not yourself. Although most heroes seem to be more greedy than heroic...

Anyway, just figured I'd point that out. I'm really looking forward to the complete guide, especially the bit about balancing quests. You should consider hosting one yourself, Flipz.

Rangers pretty much own any advanced classes they're in, though, again, stat-wise: it would be an utter waste for another class to take a Ranger's advanced class, because it renders any weapons up to that point obsolete.

I disagree. Advanced Classes offer much more than just weapon-based advantages. Such as the Assassin's OHKO or the Evoker's ability to summon. In the latter case I think the class is more tailored to Mages anyway, since they've had time to gather more gems whereas a Ranger might not have any (which holds especially true to heroes who joined before the ACs were revealed).

Good point, utter waste was a pretty bad term, but one should still take advantage of these sorts of things. I know some of the advanced classes are styled more towards one of their bases, but since every Ranger advanced class can use ranged weapon, former Rangers are very likely better armed than the other class once they advance. Still, halving all damage coming at you is a pretty extreme difference in gameplay.

Thanks for all the feedback, guys! I'll try and read over it a bit more and make some tweaks to the guide in the morning, I stayed up WAY too late trying to get that photo in the Hall photographed and edited.

I just saw your picture Flipz, and can identify Alexis, Althior and Che. I'm not sure about the one with orange hair. I recommend saving photographs as a bmp image to keep clarity if it is not intentional. :classic:

And Mehmet/Hinckley casually strolling into the hall.

You don't really need a .bmp file for clarity. Sure, it is very handy for really large photos, but for forum-use, .jpegs and .png files are better, IMO, they take way less time to load and the quality is good too. The reason why Flipz's picture's quality is low, is because he probably took the picture in an ill-lit space and then edited the contrasts in Photoshop :classic: .

Alright, a mage plays well with a rogue but not a ranger? That's my roleplay completely backwards! :poke: Great guide, Flipz! The weakness part is really helpful, at least to me.

The two in the corner are a pair of NPCs from Arthur's past, ones I haven't introduced formally (and probably won't until the Dastan Quests let out). Those are Althior and Alexis, and Atramor at the bar, and I also included Mehmet Attabar and Harriet the Slut. (Oddly enough, there is a specific reason I put them there as well, though that'll have to wait until I find my baseplates before you'll find out what it is.:grin: )

Boris from Baritones 3 is from Arthur's past? :look:

I've read Baritones 3, I'll have to double-check to see if I've accidentally created an identical-looking character... :look:

Well, not quite identical. He's got white legs and the actual Disco Dude head. I found this guy assembled at a Build-A-Mini station in the Disney World LEGO Store, and found him too hilarious to disassemble, so I took him home as-is.

Arthur must have had an interesting life.

Yes. Yes he has.

EDIT: Pie, what parts do you use for Atramor's new look? I have the face and hair (obviously), but I had to fake the rest (which is why you're sitting and have a cup in front of you, blocking what's obviously the wrong torso).

EDIT 2: Oh, and because this would make no sense in the Hall:

ArthursFriends.jpg

This was a VERY hard shot to get, especially considering I only have one of Arthur/Althior's torso right now... :look:

This one, only with red arms, a cape, Atramor's head, and Jack's hair. WBD picked out the specific parts and actually shot the picture, though.

On another note, a Quest with all of these people would be awesome.

I have a question for those of you who use Tv Tropes or are genre savvy on your own. How would you classify the heroes at the Hall in Five-Man-Band style? Who comes off as Heroes, Lancers, and all the other roles? You can organize the teams of heroes by quests or common interactions, I am just curious what people think.

For Quest 17, I'd say Althior was the Hero, I was Lancer-ish when I was active, Arthur was the Smart Guy, Xander the Big Guy, Isabella the Chick, William was also Lancer-ish, and Helm was the Sixth Ranger.

It's hard to say, as in the quests, the focus is not on one person per say, and not on the heroes in particular generally. I was thinking about it for Quest 20: Tarn was a combination of The Hero and the Chick (Peacekeeper), Dek'ra is hard to place, Maybe Smart guy, but that one goes to Aberforth. Knifk was obviously the Big guy, Dak was the tagalong kid, always needing to be saved. And Guts: I don't know, Lancer, maybe, although he could also be Big Guy, maybe someone else should say it?

Alisha does, ok. I didn't allow the mead thing, I think you must drink it in battle, since the description says it doubles your power for the duration of the battle.

You can drink mead fbefore a battle, it encouges you for your next battle. It is like applying venom to a weapon

I don't know if I'll have any returning heroes from previous Wren Quests as of right now. I get to play with a whole new pack of heroes. :sweet::devil:

Wren's gonna show up in Quest 31, though, right? :look:
