Zepher Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 no, not really. I actually did give pause while writing that. EVERYONE in the hall drinks heavy amounts, but I don't know if other players use alcoholism as a defining character trait... though there is of course the high possibility that I missed it. Quote
Poison Ivy Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 Question of the random time interval: How did you come up with your character, both their appearance and their personality? For me, Arthur's appearance was simple: I wanted something unique that few others would have. At the time, the Venomari Shrine was not "officially" out yet (during that odd prerelease period), and I knew that a lot of people had skipped the Kingdoms advent calendar the year before. I combined that with the one face I KNEW nobody else on the planet had, and I had his appearance. Character-wise, Arthur is basically me with the guts to actually do crazy dangerous heroic stuff. His backstory has evolved organically over time as I make character decisions, and he's evolved his own differences from me at this point, but at the beginning he was a straight-up Author Avatar. I also drew from elements of the Paradox faction in LEGO Universe, at least for tone, and it seems to be working well for him. Out of curiosity, where exactly did Arthur's face come from? Alisha, she comes from playing Final Fantasy and Legend of Zelda way too much for my own good. She's basically part Cloud and part Zelda, with influences from both (Huge sword and fighting style from Cloud, not much noticable from Zelda, but still bits and parts). There's also some of me in there, such as her tendency to swear badly and often. Quote

EVERYONE in the hall drinks heavy amounts, but I don't know if other players use alcoholism as a defining character trait... though there is of course the high possibility that I missed it. I think they do it because Boomingham, Althior, Atramor, and Guts do it. It's sort of like how all Mafia confirmation topics/games end up chock-full of innuendo even since Harriet the Slut in Werewolf Mafia; one person starts it, and everyone else follows. On a completely different note, Arthur is completely unaffected by alcohol. I'm debating whether or not to apply that to Meads he drinks as well (i.e. buys a Mead, drinks it, and then ask the QM not to count the Encouraged effect), but most likely I will apply it, unless the party would be completely slaughtered without me. Rumble Strike Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 My goal was to distance Tarn from being the stereotypical Barbarian, so I play him almost as a Knight. He is young and naive, but has a good heart. I really need to do some more roleplay because even after 3 Quests I do find him a bit boring. Quote

Fred Daniel Yam Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 I would say there was a deep meaning to William's character but there isn't. His name came from a Random name generator and there's nothing that defines him. Quote

Capt.JohnPaul Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 Alexandre's is real easy: Sir Galahad from Arthurian Legend. He'll probably be serving the Lion Knights if chosen for Quest 31. (serving meaning, something to do with roleplaying... I don't know what yet.) Quote

His name came from a Random name generator and there's nothing that defines him. I like Tarn how he is. Maybe he should have some more backstory and a bit more personality, but don't skew his character too much, Rumble Strike. Reminds me of Roy from OotS. (Been too long since someone referenced it. ) I'm a bit annoyed with how quickly Atramor changed, but I was afraid in his position as party leader in Quest 11 might mess up my chances in other quests if I hoarded all the best items. So I had to play him fair, and it sort of stuck. Quote
Fred Daniel Yam Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 So, basically, he's like Docken but more talkative? He's not talkative at all, merely... outspoken? Docken has an eyepatch, I have fancier garb, I have a horse. And, William's sort of inspired by the Ranger's Apprentice books. Quote

Maybe Guts should take some time off to spend time in the hall, after this quest . What I found interesting in QMing him and playing alongside him in Quest#20 was that Guts seems almost exactly the opposite of Tarn - he's old, cynical and perhaps doesn't have a pure heart. Quote

CMP Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 I am still annoyed you kept the Writ of Blacksmith's thingo and I was making consumables put of needles and horns. Most of that quest was shopping, I thought it was obvious, and once we found that out everyone started borrowing money. The Writ was like the one thing on the Quest I got I didn't purchase. Quote
Rumble Strike Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 Tarn is who he is, a good kid, but dull. With the restrictions of only being allowed one character, has anyone else thought about scrapping the one they have made and starting again, like CptJohnPaul did with Bacari? I have to admit that I have. Quote

I have to admit that I have. Quite a bit. Wasn't sure if Rogue was the right choice, and starting off with a gem as a Mage would've been a big investment. But I think I've come too far already to think about killing off Atramor. At least for another 15 levels or so. Quote

I have to admit that I have. Many times, but I never seriously wanted to scrap Hybros. There's just times where I wish I would've picked a character that's easier to relate to, and could be more flexible (there's a lot of things that Hybros can't do or say due to his nature. Having extreme emotions is one of them.). Quote

And I looked it up: From LU Wiki: Pod 7 was found by Eddie (better known as Flipz in the LEGO community). It was discovered in Anaheim, California on January 3rd, 2010. I thought it was the classic bandit face, but... That is just so incredible... From now on I'm gonna call you Eddie. Edited April 15, 2012 by Bricksandparts Quote

I have to admit that I have. Well it looks like I'm not the only one. I've considered swapping Skrall for a cleric before especially when they were so few in number, I had a female werewolf cleric in mind but never followed through with it. At one point I seriously considered dropping Skrall and taking up Ratabor Mossycloak as a PC but I think he's too ingrained as a NPC now. More recently I've thought about moving onto to playing as one of Skrall's children eventually. Quote

Weird, one of my other considered options was a female werewolf barbarian. Another was a knight based on the Intergalactic Girl, and another was this guy as a Cleric. Quote
Flipz Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 this guy as a Cleric. Ha ha, that's awesome. He'd better show up as an NPC if you ever host a Quest. Quote
