CMP Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 Ha ha, that's awesome. He'd better show up as an NPC if you ever host a Quest. I have a general idea in mind. I'm limited to LDD and I'd have to work out a lot of stuff though, so I'd say roughly a few months if I ever do take the time to plan the whole thing. Quote

Masked Builder Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 How did Alexis come about eh? Let's see, I love elves and I had the new elf stuff so I went with that and another Series 3 minfigure part as well as with a hair piece I had a TON of. Being anything other than a Ranger was out of the question, then I knew I wanted to be a mage so I went and became an Evoker. As for the new outfit, I looked for a nice green dress that looked nice enough but also rugged a bit. I do have a question as to why the Evoker's shield yields a 3x WP hit in the arena as it is not so in the normal rules. I can understand if you want them to do some damage on a shield roll, but taking other classes into account i.e. Berserker and Witch for example, their shield rolls do no damage either in the Arena. Just curious, and yes I'm kind of biased at seeing Ratsbane actually due some damage Also note that I don't think Althior's special guard as a Sage was taken into account in the most recent duel as it concerns the Hex effect or did I miss something. I think also that the definition of attacking of hexed meaning that one attacks oneself is more accurate as a hexed opponent could always chose to do nothing thus nullifying the usefulness of the hex. Yeah I don't know who wrote the rules for Evoker, might have been me, but it's how it works right now. Maybe it should be looked into... Quote

Flipz Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 ...should I know what everyone is referring to...? The Quest I'm working on. I haven't pitched it yet, but I want to have the thing at least 70% complete before doing so. It's mostly puzzle-based (aside from a couple of semi-optional fights and a boss), Ivy and B&P are helping to build the sets, and K-nut is helping me sort out and build illustrations for the puzzles. @WBD will do, if you want I could add you to the PM, but I was kinda hoping Skrall would want to go on the Quest (and discussing the puzzles would make that not possible/unfair), so...your call. Flipz Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 No problem I'll hold off, I'll just have to think a little bit harder about creating my own puzzles. Well, once I have my puzzles selected, I can give you the scraps, it shouldn't take more than a couple of days if we really think about things. Oh, and I stupidly confused number of puzzles with the "scoring" system I have in mind. It's about 400 puzzles I'm trying to get down to about 100-160. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 Question of the random time interval: How did you come up with your character, both their appearance and their personality? Forestmen are awesome. 'Nuf said. I threw on the dark green cape because I wanted a cape and dark green looked better than brown. Grabbed the S3 elf's longbow because it is, quite simply, better looking than the classic one. Big yellow feather because I wanted some more bright colors in there. Eyepatch because...I don't remember. I remember I did that combo for an MOC (Ambush!, I believe) and liked it, so that's probably why. As for personality, I didn't really try to develop any sort of personality. Roleplaying's not my thing. As it turned out, other players perceived Docken as a calm and quiet kind of guy and decided he was an "epic character" for being that way, so I just stuck with it. Nowadays, I do do more roleplaying, but most of it is inside Docken's head (in italics) and not spoken aloud. Quote

How did I not think of that? How did I create Daxus? When looking over the job classes, I knew immediately that I wanted to be a Rogue. Thus, I tried to make a Rogueish-looking character. I based him off Indiana Jones and Star Wars bounty hunters (specifically Cad Bane). A Rogue must have a hat, and they must be overly-protective of it. I chose the hair+head combo because 1. It looks good/rogueish and 2. It resembles me. The rest of the outfit was just what looked good with the head+hair+hat. As for his name, I didn't realize untill later that Daxus was a real name. I had heard the name Dax, liked it (and named a Clone Trooper Dax), but thought that it was too short. I had also wanted something Roman-sounding, hence Octavian. I chose Daxus, because (continuing with the SW inspiration) of the planet Raxus. When I put everything together, I liked the way it sounded. What is his fighting style? I'd say skilled and sneaky. He was a well-known bounty hunter/mercenary/assassin in Kaliphlin, untill he took a bounty from the wrong person (tasked with assassinating a government official) and had to escape Kaliphlin. He is working for Heroica for now, at least until things settle down in Historica. Quote

Jedi master Brick Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 For me Elgar is meant to be a polite kind hero, who likes relaxing and will honour his employers in most cases. I chose Elgar because it was going to be ranger or knight and knight was too popular. Quote

Scorpiox Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 (edited) Question of the random time interval: How did you come up with your character, both their appearance and their personality? I have a large interest in Dark-age Scandinavian history and mythology, plus playing Skyrim (The obligitory Fus Ro Dah! made me want to channel my history nerd energy into a Norse warrior. I wanted to advoid the clichéd big blond Norseman who hacks people up with large swords but says little. I chose to make a more calm and friendly charactr who never reeally fitted in. The appearance stemmed from the face, which was always one of my favourites and something I will never change on Haldor. The long hair worked really well (Despite my big secret which only K-nut knows) and the torso and legs were simple. The furs I made myself out of garden underlay cloth thing, and originally started out as western ponchos, I use them for quite a lot of my customs now, and I have about four pairs. That's coming. Aww yeah! Haldor and Nur and Skrall would beast their way through any opposition... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Flitwick, if going on a quest, you would have to leave Hoptet behind. But how about this: your character becomes both Hoptet and Thothwick. Your stats would be the same in every way, but you could roleplay the stats like this: IMG Thothwick and Hoptet, Blah and Blah year old Male Metasimian lovers Level 141/2 Rogues Power: Blah, Health: Blah, Gold: Blah, Inventory: Blah An attack could go like this: Thothwick coils his whip in preparation and Hoptet runs forward toward their foe. Thothwick jumps up onto Hoptet's shoulders, and is launched forward by his lover's arms. Thothwick flips over behind his target and whips out at Random Rork from the front row. I don't mean to push you or anything, but I'm just putting the idea out there. Edited April 16, 2012 by Scorpiox Quote
Sloop Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 Question of the random time interval: How did you come up with your character, both their appearance and their personality? When I was deciding what Helm's appearance would be, I tried to capture a combination of the standard 'mead and axes' barbarian look with something that would be able to grow into a Van Helsing/Vayne inspired hunter later on. I went with the face, since although it was fairly commonly used, was the only real head I had that looked both barbarian and moody. And then the hair (Ah yes, the hair!), well, I had to put oblique humor in there somehow. As for personality, I think I drew equal parts of his speech patterns from Tolkien and Haggard's ceremonial-zulu ('We are men, thou and I.'). When I was trying to figure out what advanced class my character was going to be, my first choice was Raider, with a sort of homeric barbarian flair. Then I went on to Berserker, with a full helmet with a sort of 'Man in the Iron Mask' effect. Deciding that was stupid, I finally went with Hunter. As Legolas-style hunters are overdone, I went for a darker style vampire hunter, which I don't think many people with do. Quote
