I just want to say, that the whole Dastan trilogy, with the inclusion of the Lion Knights, and Wren, and loads of past charecters, really gives all this such an amazing sence of scope and connection. I'm really impressed with all of you.

And we're just getting started!!

I'm equally excited. Reading the other Dastan quests has already been exciting. I won't tell you how carefully we planned together - I think that will become apparent over time, but I can say that a number of NPCs have already surprised me by existing  . I'm excited to read along.

Oh, I just realized why everyone in the Hall drinks all the time!

No one knows what to eat!

In all seriousness, though, if I want to roleplay having a drink, there are a number of medieval-era drinks that have survived to the modern day, so I can just pick something off the top of my head and have that (though I can't roleplay the taste or anything, as I've never had a drink). If I want to order something, though...well, I'm sure many of you are familiar with medieval cuisine, but I am not. It would require substantial research and preparation for me...and usually I'm plotting planning other things.

Skrall has on many occasions had stew, duck, or other unmentioned fowl, once in a while a bowl of gruel or porridge, and when he smokes, one thing not many in the hall do.

Silly Flipz. Pirates have evolved to the point where eating is the same as drinking.

And McCafferey is constantly eating breadcrumbs and corn.

Bread, cheese, roasted fruits, peas, roasted pork, roasted giant Lion Knight chicken... steamed fish is a possibility, since Eubric is a port town. A quick glance at Wikipedia is probably sufficient.

 I've GOT to use Wikipedia more before I open my mouth. I think I take the professors' admonitions that "Wikipedia is not a valid source" just a tad too seriously.

In other news, I think I've outdone myself for wild ideas.:devil::devil_laugh:

As a replacement for a textbook, no, but for a forum RPG like this...

*snip*

THANK YOU WBD for giving me a perfect opportunity for me to do that. I think all of the QMs appreciate that.

Do note that, when/if it DOES ever work again, everything will appear at once. Feel free to use that if you wish, though I do look forward to the massive confusion that will occur if everyone makes it back to the Hall and that happens. :snicker:

Oh great, you research what Arthur eats and drinks! :poke:

Again, the setting of this game isn't medieval, it's fantasy. You can order fried phoenix wings, sirloin of a unicorn and boiled brains of a chupacabra, and probably get what you ordered.

But why would you? Everyone knows that Phoenix wings are tough. :hmpf_bad:

...how would they acquire unicorn meat? I suppose that virgin hunters could go into the forest to lure out a unicorn, and then when the unicorn is relaxed, the virgin would slits it's throat. Maybe there are entire cattle farms run entirely by virgins, to keep the unicorns docile.

Phoenix wings make more sense though, and since a Phoenix will reincarnate all you need is one.

Spoiler alert: The phoenix is chicken, the unicorn is horsemeat, and the chupacabra brains are brains from your common dog.

It's pretty easy, you take a ship ride Salamanda and go into the Menagerie late at night, sneak past the sleeping guard, kill the unicorn and magically preserve the meat with an ice spell to bring it back to the hall.

But once the unicorn meat passes your lips, you'll lead a cursed life. Don't you guys read?

I'd recommend the Barbecued Pegasus Wings instead. Not quite as spicy as the phoenix wings but you they're a better value since they're so much bigger.

Sandy, would it be possible for you to respond to this comment of mine - thanks

So easy I could do it in my sleep! Hah!

If you really don't want to use it (free items, come on!), just sell it for 40 gold as you have to sell at half the value. I don't have time to bargain on individual items, sorry to say. I edited the instructions accordingly.

Because I am an idiot, I decided to name the generic term for Light and Darkness mages following the 'mancer' system. For light: Luminomancer (Lumino, luminous), for Darkness: Umbromancer (Umbro, shadow/darkness). How are they?

OOC: Sandy, is it possible for me to bargain with one of the shop-owners for my Jo-no tree seed? Or can I just sell it to them for 80 gold like it says on the treasury?

You do realize that that thing is essentially a Mead, a Nostrum, a Smelling Salts, AND a potion all in one? Why NOT keep and use it?

Lumomancer would sound shorter and sweeter to me, and it has been used in other works of fiction as well. It also pairs neatly with Umbromancer, although most other sources seem to use it as the opposite of Necromancer.

Right you are Sir/Madam. My Latin/Greek is ineffective, such so that I can't even remember if Luminous is a Latin or Greek word... :look:

Shall I construct a list then?

Fire: Pyromancy

Water: Hydromancy

Earth: Geomancy

Air: Aeromancy

Ice: Cryomancy

Lightning: Electromancy

Light: Lumomancy

Darkness: Umbromancy

Death: Necromancy

Plant: Herbomancy

Scorpiox's extended list:

Sound: Sonarmancy

Radiation: Radiomancy

Mind: Telemancy

Machinery?: Technomancy (Thank you Sandy )

Plus!: Chronomancy (Time) and Spatiomancy (Space)!
