Palathadric Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 I know it's frustrating but I did want to take out another raft of newbies. You guys have already had at least one chance to go on a Quest. I hope you guys understand. Not a problem. Monk Pretzel needs to win himself some converts in the hall anyway. I actually think it's a great idea to let the new fellows go on out on there own. It should be interesting. We were pretty much a newbie team as well, although we did have Leo and Benji. Wow! I wonder how people like Erik, Nagure, and Sorrow will get along with the children, eh? I feel like withdrawing from the arena battle, as nothing Palathadaric can do bar a critical can hurt me. I pulled out already. When I accepted the duel I somehow didn't realize that you had a shield, and I forgot that only the weapon power counts. Sorry I haven't been on for a couple days. Quote
Zepher Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 Have I mentioned I think quests have been too easy in the past. I'm hoping this battle is forcing you guys to think. Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 (edited) Arg don't do that Zepher, pretty soon I'm going to need Monk Pretzel for a confession. In other news, Brickdoctor what do you use for the back drop on your quests, is it Photoshopped? Edited April 26, 2012 by Waterbrick Down Quote
Pandora Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 Have I mentioned I think quests have been too easy in the past. I'm hoping this battle is forcing you guys to think. Battle strategy is one of the most fun things in Heroica for me. ... so I really hope strategy is what you're referring to.. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 In other news, Brickdoctor what do you use for the back drop on your quests, is it Photoshopped? The sky? It's a piece of light blue-colored 8.5"x11" paper. In Photoshop, I select the sky with the wand, copy it, paste it into a new layer, run a massive Surface Blur (Threshold and Radius both set to 100) to get rid of all the wrinkles and blemishes that come from using the same piece of paper for three quests, ( ) and do minor adjustments to the color. The sun is a simple white Ellipse (holding down Shift to create a perfect circle) with an Outer Glow in pale yellow. The clouds are a little tougher. I open a new image at about 800x300. I render Clouds once and Difference Clouds until I like the pattern I have. Then I fiddle with the contrast via Levels until I get some defined clouds. Duplicate the layer and Extrude and Gaussian Blur (1.5, if I remember correctly) the top layer. Merge the layers, copy the image, paste on top of the sky in my original image. I set the blending mode to Screen and move the clouds around until I get a nice looking position. I use a Layer Mask and a soft brush to erase the clouds whose edges are cut off or are overlapping elements of the scene. Finally, I lower the opacity of the clouds a little bit so they don't stand out so much. There was some tutorial I read online that I took a lot of that from, but I don't remember where it was. Quote
Zepher Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 Arg don't do that Zepher, pretty soon I'm going to need Monk Pretzel for a confession. You'll have so much to read when we're all done! Battle strategy is one of the most fun things in Heroica for me. ... so I really hope strategy is what you're referring to.. Yes indeed, and you guys are jumping in head first and thinking. Thanks for confirming for me that I chose a good team. *snip* In my Quests, you don't ever see the skies! Quote
CMP Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 Strategy is really fun. Every keeps whining about bad dice, but if you were hitting the right enemies... Quote
Rumble Strike Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 Tarn did have the right idea! Just not enough health to take the damage Quote
CMP Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 Tarn did have the right idea! Just not enough health to take the damage I'm sorry, I probably should've healed you. Quote
Palathadric Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 pretty soon I'm going to need Monk Pretzel for a confession. Monk Pretzel is very happy to hear this, but Monk Pretzel does not like Ogres much. Quote
Rumble Strike Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 You can't heal Barbarians, they are too singleminded to notice Quote
Zepher Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 Do you think I can safely assume Nyx would target Bomb XX? I'm going out for the evening and want to get the round up before I go, if possible... Quote
Palathadric Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 OOC: Okay, thank you for taking part. Make sure all your stats are correct (they should be, as you are level ones). What did Drake spend 5 gold on, xxlrocka? I believe Drake purchased a potion. Quote
Rumble Strike Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 All new characters get a potion automatically. So he should have 2 potions, I guess. Quote
CMP Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 Do you think I can safely assume Nyx would target Bomb XX? I'm going out for the evening and want to get the round up before I go, if possible... I think it's fair to assume so. Quote
Flipz Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 Another reason to not like mages. On a side note, Flipz, perhaps in the future it would be better to PM the QM your solution. I think the idea remains that the heroes must complete battles/puzzles without outside assistance, SO if you want credit for solving it, maybe put it somewhere that the players can't get to it. I assume that your solution relates to WBD's quest, as none of the others seem to be in puzzles, but I want the fun of solving it myself or not at all, so I can't check. If you're referring to the video link he provided, it is not the solution, not to my knowledge at least. It's not, it's a "reaction" to successfully solving the puzzle. I would have embedded it, but you can't use the code to jump to a specific moment in the video if you imbed it. Do you think I can safely assume Nyx would target Bomb XX? I'm going out for the evening and want to get the round up before I go, if possible... This seems to come up a LOT lately, time zone issues in battles, I mean. Also, are you fighting bombs?! Allow me to quote WBD: Arg don't do that Zepher, pretty soon I'm going to need Monk Pretzel for a confession. *Except I wouldn't go to Pretzel, he's a sneaky lying Scummo who killed me , I'd go to Cronk no, wait, he's a demon, uh, hmm...well, you get the point! Quote
Palathadric Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 *Except I wouldn't go to Pretzel, he's a sneaky lying Scummo who killed me I'd do it again any day! Die Cinderella! But don't worry, I didn't murder you while you slept. I just held you down. It seems to me that Sleeping Beauty was jealous and killed you to have me. Quote
Rumble Strike Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 Can a mod put the # in Quest#32's title please? I didn't notice I'd missed it off. Quote
Palathadric Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 *Drake walks over to the potion shop* "Ummm, hello!I would like to buy a potion please."Drake exclaimed. And with that he handed over 5 gold and took the potion. Drake now has another potion and 5 gold! Yes, Drake has two potions. Quote
xxlrocka Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 Yes, Drake has two potions. Which I used....in my first fight in the arena. Drake needed it though. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 I'm sure this was asked before, but I don't remember the answer and I can't find it, so I'll ask it again: When a battle during which a Hunter rolled a Shield ends, does the Hunter continue to favor the type he chose, or does the effect go away until he rolls Shield again in a different battle? Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 Sandy said about a dozen pages back that the Hunter's favored type continues over to the next battle. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 Sandy said about a dozen pages back that the Hunter's favored type continues over to the next battle. Okay, thanks. Quote
RPGer Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 *Except I wouldn't go to Pretzel, he's a sneaky lying Scummo who killed me , I'd go to Cronk no, wait, he's a demon, uh, hmm...well, you get the point! So that excludes Nerwen and Durkon too, right? Quote
Pandora Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 Do you think I can safely assume Nyx would target Bomb XX? I'm going out for the evening and want to get the round up before I go, if possible... This seems to come up a LOT lately, time zone issues in battles, I mean. It's been an issue since the dawn of Heroica, and will never change. It isn't that much of a problem, though, as long as players are active. For what it's worth, Zepher posted that at one of the rare times in an average 24 hours that I'm actually asleep. I'd much rather be on quests because the QM wants those particular characters than because everyone is neatly in the same time zone. Quote
