Scroll of Luck - Grants target the lucky-effect for one battle. Costs 10 ether.

QMs. You are all trolling me now because I said I wanted Arthur to be a Scroll mage instead of a Gem mage. Stop it!

Apaprently gold is leaving my pockets before I actuallly have it. :sadnew: Name your price, and I will save up and buy it. :sweet:

Captain Hlin Horrkkba of the Ve'er Town Watch turned to the heroes.

7113987297_c5a161e213_t.jpg

"Some good questions, heroes. The missing children are only younglings. The parents would have put them to bed as usual, and the next morning, there was not a trace of them. That's what happened with Vell, too. I put her to bed as normal, tucked her in really tight, and kissed her goodnight. When I awoke the next day to go to work, she was gone.

No signs of forced entry, no signs of struggle. Vell had just disappeared. The same with the other children. It's a huge blow to the town, and of course I gave my all to try and find out what had happened. And... well, you'll see soon enough."

The party finally made their way to Ve'er, passing the newly-reopened mine, the Orcshead Tavern, and Laxadaisi's Magic Shop. Instead, Hlin stopped outside a large, imposing greybrick mansion:

"As I, Captain Hlin Horrkkba of the Ve'er Town Watch, am a dedicated and brilliant lawman, I quickly deduced this building may have something to do with the missing children. How, you ask? Because this simply wasn't here until the night that the children were taken!"

What do the party want to do?

Is it just me, or is this a Luigi's Mansion reference? If it is, it's too bad you don't have an aeromancer (ahem! :hmpf_bad::tongue: ) to suck up ghosts, as I'm fairly sure we don't have vacuum cleaners in Heroica!

I expect a giant Michelin Man-esque monster made of marshmellow to attack this town now.

EDIT: Not a reference to Luigi's Mansion, just in case that wasn't clear.

Looks like nobody wants it....duel you for it when these quests are done.

On a semi-related note, does the lucky effect choose the best action in order of Special Damage > Damage > Miss > Hit > Critical > Shield, or could the person with the effect specify? I'm looking forward to rolling Special Damage as a Witch, so I'd prefer it to some degree based upon my targeted enemy's special.

*readies Scroll of Blinding* Be warned, I've REALLY studied the arcane aspects of the system, so I know just how to best strike the weaknesses of the ACs. This also applies to when I eventually QM Quests, though I am a bit more merciful when running games. (In case anyone's wondering, Witch's poisoning power is neutralized if they are Blinded.)

Also, does anyone know if the Lucky effect applies to scroll activation chances as well as normal attacks?

No, I believe it's been previously specified that Shield is the best and Special Damage is the worst, always. So apparently, Lucky isn't a good status effect for you.

*readies Scroll of Sealing* :devil_laugh: Yeah, but it only takes one hit to poison you, not to mention you have a 50% of failing. So assuming you fail, you're now badly poisoned, I can seal you, and dance around in the back row while you waste away. Assuming you succeed, I can still seal you, and my blinding would wear off first. Poison > back row > waste away. :innocent:

Did I say dance around in the back row? I meant heal myself. :sweet:

Ah, but let's not forget I can Confuse you, assuming you fail to Seal me. (And if I get enough Experience to make it to Sorcerer--I doubt it, but there's a chance--it'd happen automatically. )

I have yet to complete my final analysis of the Advanced Classes, especially under Arena rules, but there's definitely weak spots to exploit in your build--small ones compared to most, but exploitable.

So I'd have a 50% chance of targeting myself while healing. That works.

Every class has weaknesses. In any case, Witch is built for slaying NPCs, as the only ways to even take damage then is to roll Damage or an ally's AoE Special Damage.

Erm, B&P, Knights, with their Snields, are the ones who will be taking free hits the most. The shield absorbs damage, but the gloves give the knight to deal a free hit of their own, not reflect the free hit, so if Knifk sufficiently upgraded his shield, he could get to the point that the enemy's free hit is entirely defended (or does one damage, depending on the QM), and he deals damage equal to his Power, so free hits on him would be an asset to the party rather than an annoyance. The artifact was clearly designed with Knights in mind. Also, as he's unable to do so for himself, I have to defend my brother's loot for him!

We've already determined that in the Arena, a Confused hero must attempt to perform the best possible attack.

I think that's Hexed, that's a Witch's special. Confused opponents choose their action out of their own free will, I think, but they have the knowledge that they have a 50% chance of targeting themselves. Unless you are talking about Confused?

Flipz, if you need any help beating the heck out of yourself, a Witch can do that too. We could go on endlessly about this, though, so maybe we should continue this in PM or wait for me to prove it in the Arena.

You know, any way you slice it, a battle between Deadly Poison Witch Atramor and a fully Scrolled-up Sorcerer Arthur would be epic no matter how many times it was done.

:hmpf: Seriously Bricksandparts? I mean, Seriously? You are accusing me of taking the best of the loot? Come on man. And your numbers are off, by the way.

You have scrolls, staves and gems, so I assumed you wanted to become a shaman, as I believe you have said in the past. Since none of us can use it... You can of course keep it and sell it to Flipz. You can have the dog artifact if you want, just be clear about, give a new proposed loot division, and don't accuse me of stuff, not cool.

Oh, yes, I think that was Hexed. In any case, I think the same rule should apply, since in a normal battle, the enemy would still act as if they weren't Confused.

Good point. The Arena really needs a lot of specifying stuff and other things done, to be honest. There's a lot of rule changes that aren't listed in the first post.

I wasn't getting mad at you. I just thought the distribution wasn't really fair. I don't really like how you need to use 10 ether to use the scroll. I realize distributing loot isn't easy, it's not. I planned to be battle mage, not shaman, but plan to bring that into RP later on. I may be able to sell the scroll to Arthur though. I really didn't mean to sound so harsh, I'm sorry.

Ah ok, rereading it I may have taken it wrong . I proposed a new division.

It does. When it was first written, I was in the middle of the setup and starting phases of my second quest, so I just wrote the rules for five classes and didn't really pay attention to the others. Rereading them, they do seem rather redundant in use of the x1, x2, x3 modifiers for Hit, Critical Hit, and Shield, respectively, and don't take advantage of a lot of the classes' unique abilities.

Not to interrupt this fuzzy moment, but I've got to agree that is some pretty cool loot. Are the gloves of counter striking not considered an artifact? I thought hand-wear were in the Treasury.

The gloves, quiver, and statuettes are all considered artifacts. And I haven't gotten around to updating the Treasury because I keep screwing up and losing like 2 hours of work.
