legobodgers Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 I am part of the quest and I think that having Bacari deal damage like a hero is a good way to both make the battle challenging and wrap up the character. Great quest so far Capt.JohnPaul, it has been a lot of fun. Quote
Capt.JohnPaul Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 The problem is that you're taking a hero power and applying it directly to an enemy, instead of taking a hero power and adapting it to the enemy. Ok, sorry for the confusion everyone! Quote
Sandy Posted September 25, 2011 Author Posted September 25, 2011 All hosts should remember that the heroes attack differently than the enemies. Each hero attacks as stated in the job class section in the Rules, with a battle die. The normal damage they cause is calculated by adding their level to their weapon power. The enemies only attack the way described in their statistics. The enemies cause damage based on their level only (not adding the power any weapons they might carry), and special attack works as described in the stats. So in Bacari's case, his special skill says: "Triple Shot- Bacari shoots three times, at 1 or more targets", and he's a Level 6 enemy, which means he will cause three times 6 damage to one, two or three heroes. Hope this solves any confusion there might be! Don't hesitate to contact me if you're in doubt, everyone! Quote
Sandy Posted September 25, 2011 Author Posted September 25, 2011 ATTENTION! After some feedback, I've finally made some changes to the Job Classes. The Adventure Traits have been changed into Job Traits, and Barbarians and Rogues got whole new ones: Because of these changes, all Barbarians who have purchases bedrolls (which they no longer need), can add back the lost 5 gold as they remove bedrolls from their inventory. I must emphasize that Barbarians regain full health only after a battle, not during it. Rogues on the other hand can now flee from the battle whenever they feel like it, and their battle options have been changed accordingly. They still cannot return to the battle that they've fled from. Hope you like these changes! Quote
JimBee Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 Great, thanks Sandy. Hopefully this will balance things out now. Since the Barbarians no longer need bedrolls, do the Rogues get to return any smoke bombs? Quote
Sandy Posted September 25, 2011 Author Posted September 25, 2011 Great, thanks Sandy. Hopefully this will balance things out now. Since the Barbarians no longer need bedrolls, do the Rogues get to return any smoke bombs? No, since Smoke Bombs affect the whole party. Sorry. As a minor note, Cleric's Spirit Guard's name was changed to Special Guard in preparation for the advanced classes. The effect is still the same as when it was last changed (Clerics are protected from negative status effects, but not other kinds of special skills). Quote
Brickdoctor Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 I think you embedded the old Rogue description image. Either way, I think this is a good update to make these classes more appealing. Quote
JimBee Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 Oh, that's right, I forgot about that. Then they're still useful anyway. Quote
Peanuts Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 No, since Smoke Bombs affect the whole party. Sorry. Yes, but who cares about the party? More loot for me. And why does Donny Dozenhands wear a holster if there are no guns invented yet? And who invents a hunting crossbow that shoot explosive bolts? Please don't get me wrong, I'm not really nit-picking. I just think that's sorta funny. Quote

Either way, its good to know the Rpgues can ditch a battle at will. Quote
Zepher Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 Is the retrieval of a throwing weapon automatically successful or do they have to roll a correct number for it? I'm going to say that it is automatically successful and change it if it is otherwise. Quote
Sandy Posted September 25, 2011 Author Posted September 25, 2011 I think you embedded the old Rogue description image. It just takes a while for your server to process the reuploaded images, since the filenames are the same. They should change soon. And why does Donny Dozenhands wear a holster if there are no guns invented yet? And who invents a hunting crossbow that shoot explosive bolts? Please don't get me wrong, I'm not really nit-picking. I just think that's sorta funny. Donny's "holster" is actually for his weapon, which will be revealed once the party gets to fight him. And explosive bolts are of course the work of alchemists, duh! Is the retrieval of a throwing weapon automatically successful or do they have to roll a correct number for it? I'm going to say that it is automatically successful and change it if it is otherwise. Yes, the retrieval should be successful each time. Quote

And explosive bolts are of course the work of alchemists, duh! Nothing against explosive crossbow bolts, they are completely logical. I was wondering why you would use one for hunting. You got me about that holster, though. Quote
Zepher Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 Um, sorry to be an annoying folk, especially to barbarians, but does the fact that they totally heal after every battle seem just a tad unbalanced to everyone else? I dunno, maybe it's just me, but it seems like a fairly nice perk. Quote

I dunno, maybe it's just me, but it seems like a fairly nice perk. Balancing these job classes is really tough. On the other hand, I don't want to make them too complicated, and on the other hand I've been asked to give the classes more things that differentiate them from each other. If giving Barbarians the full health restoration after each battle feels too much to you guys, I can always change it to something else... Quote
Zepher Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 No I know I almost didn't comment on it because, well, you're doing a lot of work and I'm well aware it's hard. I'm fine with keeping it, but I'm going with a barbarian hybrid when I get there . Quote

I'm fine with keeping it, but I'm going with a barbarian hybrid when I get there . A Berserker, that is, then? But hold your horses, since you haven't seen all the options yet. The advanced classes are not mere hybrids of basic classes, they all have some sort of unique twist to them, and you may be surprised to see how hard it is to choose. Luckily you can change your advanced class in between quests. Quote
Zepher Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 Afraid of commitment?! I think there should at least be a punishment for switching advanced classes, such as a cost of some sort. Make us really make a choice, that's what RPGs are all about! Am I bullying? I hope not. you Sanders, I'm just trying to help with constructive feedback, tell me if I'm giving too much stress. We don't want you turning into Sunny forever. AHhhhhhhhh. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 Now I am even more excited. Pandora, hurry up and get to Level 15 so we can see the options! I was thinking a Cleric-Ranger combo to allow healing would be my top choice, but if Barbarians can fully heal after battles... that's something to think about. Quote
Sisco Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 Hello everyone, I'm back. We returned a day early due to a powerful storm that blew in today. But the funeral service was lovely, and I'm sure she's happy now, wherever she may be.\ ... ... Alright, Quest Five members, I'll have those battle results up soon. Quote

But I still can't wait for them to be fully revealed. Quote

Make us really make a choice, that's what RPGs are all about! You can only change between the five advanced classes derived from your basic class, so there's still ten classes you will not get your hands onto. Like I said, the advanced classes are more than just the powers of two basic classes combined. I'm giving this choice to the players so they won't feel trapped into one play style only. Like being advanced enough to learn certain skills specifically for a certain quest.Welcome back, cralegoboy! Quote
