Professor Flitwick Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 Docken, Thothwick, Skrall, and Tarn, for example, all strike me as people who would be trusted to hold together teams... Except when there's a Witch involved... Quote
Scorpiox Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 Yay! Ellaria returns! Haldor still doesn't know if it actually survived the birth. It will be great when he gets back. ...Not that I want the quest to end. Its been great fun so far and looks to get better. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 ...Not that I want the quest to end. Its been great fun so far and looks to get better. Even if Zeph KO'ed you and we're not bothering to revive you. Quote
Darth Nihilus Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 All Rogue Quest! And not only that, but both Guts and Dak have a rivalry, and Dyric gets along with nobody. They're going to be killing eachother over the loot... Nah, Guts'll just use seniority, and then Dyric and Dak will be left with no loot. As for the parties for the new quests - they both look great! I'm really looking forward to the character interactions, especially the three rogue quest as they're all characters who I can see getting along well AND getting along extremely poorly. We'll see..... I'm actually not going to do much roleplaying this Quest, since all my roleplaying stuff so far has crashed and/or burned epically. I'll just leave the major roleplaying for Dak for the training room. Quote
CMP Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 Except when there's a Witch involved... Every single quest you've been in involves witches in one form or another. I think you're jinxed. Quote
Zepher Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 Even if Zeph KO'ed you and we're not bothering to revive you. He refused to fight. I doubt reviving him would fix that. Every single quest you've been in involves witches in one form or another. I think you're jinxed. Oof, just realized that. Bouncing between Wren, Baba, and then Wren again. Not good for you. Anyone else want to invent a witch so Thothwick doesn't escape? It's not surprising that you're distrustful of Atramor. Quote
Dannylonglegs Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 No, please don't do that. It'll only cause confusion. I respect your decision, however I'm not sure I fully articulated my idea. I would list the actual name of the class alongside what my character calls it. So, it would look like this: Level 16 Druid (Dark Druid) Is that any better, or would that still be confusing? ~Insectoid Aristocrat Quote

What do you plan to do to be a dark druid? Quote
Scubacarrot Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 As a heads up to Sandy, when you selected me it says level 14, but Guts is actually level 14.5 Quote

Masked Builder Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 Great to see Ellaria back Sandy! With Althior not coming into the hall, K-Nut , it was getting a bit boring. Quote
Flipz Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 I swear, Finnegan, someday I will find a way to kil you and you will not enjoy it. Most people don't enjoy being killed. Quote
Tanma Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 The extra power is not WP, so out of your examples it would be the first option. Critical hits only multiply the weapon power, but elemental strengths multiply the entire power of the attack. STATISTICS TIME! I just chose the players to my new quests, so I also had to consider which of them would be suitable party leaders. I went through the list of quests in the Library-topic and saw that actually very few players have acted as party leaders, and some people have gotten the priviledge several times. Female characters also tend to get chosen as party leaders more often in proportion to their low number. Here's some statistics about that: -stats removed- This is in no way meant as a slide to anyone, these are just some neutral observations. As far as I know, all party leaders have done a fantastic job so far. Cinna was also second in command of Quest 4, but I am not sure if that counts. Although I think that certain heroes are natural leaders and definitely deserve their posts, I think it might be a good idea to thrust less worthy heroes into leadership roles, at least for role-play reasons. It would be interesting to see a novice leader try to deal with the reins of command, and to see them struggling with the knowledge that the mission and their comrade's lives are in their hands. Some new heroes might rise and gather respect upon their fellows, while other new leaders might fail and live with the guilt that they lead their fellows to defeat. Quote

Quest 25 did that with Olinn, and it didn't really go that well, IMO. The most important quality in a Party Leader, in my opinion, is unfortunately a meta-game reason: activity. It's unfortunate, but a Party Leader needs to be one of the more active Heroes on the Quest, so they can make decisions and choose actions when other Heroes go inactive. If one Hero goes inactive, the QM and/or Party Leader can deal with it. If a Party Leader disappears, the party is suddenly left without a final, deciding vote on decisions, and, in battle, are left without a Battle Order. Until someone else takes the lead, the party is essentially paralyzed. Quote

Zepher Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 This was the first time that I've picked a Story-Driven Party Leader. Thothwick is the only hero that Phil knows, and so he is the hero that Phil would pick to be in command. I plan to make choices like that in the future, when possible. Quote
K-Nut Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 Great to see Ellaria back Sandy! With Althior not coming into the hall, K-Nut , it was getting a bit boring. Hey, there's a reasoning behind that! I was rewriting my RP script after CMP screwed it up by beating me! Quote

K-Nut Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 Alexis? Since when? Let's see, he called her an illiterate broad, smashed his head against the table when he found out that he had to spend a quest with her, and secretly is trying to get Alexis to juggle grenades while riding on a unicycle. Maybe not enemy, but strong hatred of her. Oh! And Dyric's and enemy too. Forgot about him. Quote
The Legonater Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 Oh! And Dyric's and enemy too. Forgot about him. Come on, Dyric's one of the original enemies! Quote
K-Nut Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 Come on, Dyric's one of the original enemies! He's easily forgettable compared to the diabolical mind of McCaffery. Quote
Chromeknight Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 (edited) I think the trick to roleplay is doing it a little bit over a long time. Pick a story, develop it over time and stick to it. Use your fellow players and the quest you are in to help develop your character. In terms of setting up a consistent arc for your character, you might like to look at spending a little time answering these questions. They don't lock you into anything, but they do light up the road ahead of you a little. Who Are You? (hopefully more than just a name, some titles perhaps, or secret identities/ aliases) Where Are You From? (again, more than a place name, have an idea about what that place is like.) Why are you here? List three things your character does better than the average (insert class here) List three things your character does worse than the average (classmate) List three things everyone knows about you List three things no one knows about you List three things you believe are true List three things you want but don’t have List three things you have but don’t want Once you've got some secrets, some beliefs and some goals (getting what you want, getting rid of what you don't). You're on your way! Hope this helps (someone, somewhere!). Edited May 14, 2012 by Chromeknight Quote
