Dannylonglegs Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 *Snip* That's a really cool method! I just get a general Idea of the character, but I can see this really helping flesh out a character! Thanks! ~Insectoid Aristocrat Quote
Kadabra Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 Ooh, looks like fun. I do have plans for Arasmyth, but a form to fill out might help. Who Are You? "I am Arasmyth, Elven aeromancer extraordinaire. Among my people, I am known as "The Stormy One", "Cloud Chaser", "The Atoner", and more. My official title is Lord RuGard the Younger, and my family's symbol is a cloud spewing lightning. Where Are You From? "I hail from the forests bordering the volcanic lands of Baltarok, home of the orcs. Volcanic ash makes excellent fertilizer, you know. The society is led by the High Council, a group of nine elves, each representing one of the Elements. Arasmyth's father is on the council representing Wind. Why are you here? "Why did I travel to Heroica? Well, in my younger years, I had a good friend, an orc named Hazath. Being young and the more reckless of the two of us, I managed to convince him to set out from our home as adventurers. Not long after we set out, we were ambushed by slavers. My friend was taken. It was all my fault. Afterwards, an aging human helped nurse me back to health from the injuries I sustained in the battle. He died soon afterwards. So, as my title "The Atoner" would indicate, I'm here to atone for my past sins." Strengths: "What I'm good at? I'm excellent at linguistics, for one. I can speak just about any language ever spoken, from Rockling to the language of the wasp people living in the marshlands in the East. For another, I'm a bit more creative and unorthodox than most of the stuffy old mages you'll find out there. I'm willing to do things in new and unique ways, and act spontaneously, not refer to an ancient text to solve all my problems for me. I do refer to ancient texts frequently, though. Ancient texts are fun. Finally, my specialty: Weather magic. I'm the best that's ever been. Rain, hail, lightning, thunder, wind. Especially wind. I can summon hurricanes and blizzards, fry foes with lightning, toss armored men about like dry leaves in a tornado, anything." Weaknesses: "What I'm not good at? Why, nothing, of course. Ha ha, just kidding. I tend to become tangential frequently, and I often ramble. I find it hard to focus on things I'm not interested, and take most things too lightly. Second, I find myself quick to anger. My nature is highly unpredictable, like the wind, and the slightest statement may send my flying into a rage. A butterfly's flap may cause a hurricane, after all. That's called "chaos theory"... I'm rambling again, aren't I? Finally, I tend to be overly loquacious, and frequently use sesquipedalian terminology. That is, I talk a lot. And I use lots of big words. It can get hard to understand me when I go off on a rant. You're probably wondering why I don't count my inability to utilize other elements of magic aside from Wind and Lightning with a few dabblings in Water and Ice as a weakness. That's because it isn't one. I had a natural affinity for weather based magic, and I homed in on it and honed my skills to the exclusion of other schools of magic. Yes, I may be at a disadvantage against Rocky monsters, but I'll bet my hat I'm better at aeromancy than any of you jack-of-all-elements, master-of-none mages." Evident Facts: "What is immediately apparent to those who meet me? First would probably be my affinity for the color blue. All my robes are blue, and I'm a strong supporter of the blue clad Hinckwells ,and my speech is blue too.. Next would be my spontaneous personality. Anyopne who engages in a conversation of significant length with me would probably notice my turbulence and talkativity. Finally, I believe most people will notice that despite my casual, disorganized, and chaotic personality, I'm indeed very wise in the ways of this world. especially those of magic. The beard and hat help. Secrets: "Things few, if any, people know about me? Well, you've got to promise not to tell. For one, I like to keep my past shrouded in mystery. It seems you can't toss a stone in the Hall without hitting someone with a tragic sob story, and mine pales in comparison. Better to keep myself individual. Also, the mystery helps promote the wise, bearded wizard look I mentioned earlier. Second, to tell the truth, I'm very lonely. I put up an abrasive exterior, but to be honest, I'd love to have a soulmate to spend the rest of my thousands of years with. Finally, and you really can't divulge this one, my family line isn't pure Elf. My great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great granduncle seventeen times removed was a dwarf. SHHHH! Don't tell anyone! Beliefs: "What do I believe? Well, my Gods are Isiris, Galadrya, and Celebryon. Next, I believe in the afterlife. And finally, I believe in destiny and fate." Wishes: "What I wish for? A female companion, for one. For another, I long for a taste of home. But most of all, my one desire that keeps my from returning to the forests and spending my life as an eccentric wizard in his tree, I want to wipe out the red on my ledger. Hazath's death was my fault, and I want to make up for that by helping others. That's why I came to Heroica. I don't think my soul will be able to rest until I do. Liabilities: "What I wish to get rid of or change about myself? Well, I'm hardly proud of my rashness. I hope to become cooler over time, and temper my anger. I also dislike my inexperience, and hope to train to overcome it. Lastly, I have a desire to abandon my old staff at some point. I've had it forever, but it has to many bad memories clinging to it for me to feel comfortable using it as just another tool. I doubt I'll actually throw it out, though, just leave it behind as a memorial to Hazath. I may not be Flipz, but random activity of the unspecified time interval: Fill out Chromeknight's form as I have, and post it here! Quote
UsernameMDM Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 Fill out Chromeknight's form as I have, and post it here! Don't. I am sure Chromeknight meant answer those question privately THEN play those out in your character. Think of your character as yourself. I don't go up to complete strangers and blab my entire personal history to them the first time I meet them. I let them learn about me through multiple conversations and interactions. Again, form your character OVER TIME, not all at once. Quote

Most of the things I posted were things already apparent to players (not necessarily characters), other were just interesting trivia I threw in, and the rest was just for laughs. Obviously I didn't (and don't want others to) spoil any future roleplaying for my character, which is why the "secrets "section is 2-for-1 comedy to serious. I just think filling it out IC as if it were a survey or questionnaire might be fun. Quote

Some things about Arthur will probably never be revealed, but they motivate his character regardless. Sometimes the things unsaid can be more interesting than the things that are. Quote
Palathadric Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 "Bull's eye! I did it!" Ellaria shouted, and ran to her instructor to give him a hug. "You certainly did it", the dashing Veteran said with a big smile. "You, Ellaria Arbour, can now without a doubt call yourself a true druid." Beginner's Luck. Quote
Palathadric Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 I love Snowy! Who could kill such an awesome machine? I am also really glad that Nagure is finally receiving some damage. He has been the exact opposite of Monk Pretzel so far. Sorry if it's obvious, but where is this face from? Quote
Rumble Strike Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 Thanks palathadric! I have had a lot of fun creating the Guardians and hope that others have enjoyed seeing them too. Quote

Sandy Posted May 14, 2012 Author Posted May 14, 2012 Well since I went through the training room posts, so congratulations to the first 13. Ahem, 15... It looks like druid was the last advanced job to be picked, so I timed my "advancement" perfectly. And since yesterday was Mother's Day here in Finland, it was also a perfect time for Ellaria to return. Quote
UsernameMDM Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 So when is the epic advanced class only quest? Quote

Zepher Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 Well, those folks in Lions and Lambs certainly are a rowdy bunch... It's certainly an interesting twist, though I can't see a way that they're going to be friends again any time soon. I like it! Adds some varity to the game and really builds up honest to goodness justified hero v. hero grudges. I hope heroes don't do it too often though. And I thought Hoke challenging Tesni to a duel was daring! Quote

CMP Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 (edited) Staff of the Cultist Battlemage (WP: 7; 50% chance of Fleeing upon being KO'd; suitable for Mages and Clerics) - Created by cultists who prefer to remain in hiding, this simple but somewhat unreliable oaken staff is capable of discharging smoke to cover its user's escape. What's the advantage to fleeing while KO'd? I thought the whole point of doing so was to avoid that. Edited May 14, 2012 by CallMePieOrDie Quote

CMP Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 (edited) As I see it, it's a 50% chance of Fleeing instead of being KO'd. It says upon being KO'd, though. But I think I understand it now, even if you lose out on the experience and the loot the quest can continue. It's like your own personal back-up Rogue. Edited May 14, 2012 by CallMePieOrDie Quote

There is no advantage from an individualistic point of view, i.e. you'll lose xp either way, but from the point of view of the Party, it can help avoid a total Party wipeout. Quote
Darth Nihilus Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 I have a question about the Greatsword: If you were to switch weapons after attacking with it, would you still be Slowed? For an example: Hero A targets Monster 1 with the Greatsword of the Lion Nobles Turn 2, Hero A switches weapons to Broadsword and attacks Monster 1 again. Is this possible, or would the Slowed effect transmit over to the other weapon for another Turn? (i.e. the Hero would still be Slowed for a Turn after switching weapons.) Quote
