Flipz Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 Don't you kind of need Skrall to see the tracks? He had been leading us along them, presumably we can just keep walking in that general direction. And it's not like we have anything else to do, we don't have any more plot hooks to follow. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 Quest 31 Spoiler for Zeph and Doc: I get taking Skrall, but any particular reason Isabella was taken? I don't recall her expressing any sort of interest in taking down the Chimaera--I don't even think she spoke at all when Wren was there. I'm just wondering what the deal was with that. The Chimera was raised by Cultists. Vipera is summoning heroes which have killed cultists to fight the Chimera. Skrall and Isabella dealt the killing blows to Lady Leofwena and Lord Calibor. Quote

Damn it, now I have to kill her again! ...aaand I think that means I need to abandon Arthur completely once the Quest ends. I relied too much on trying to set him up for the future, and when it didn't come into play, it made him nonsensical and illogical, which makes me look like an idiot. I'll likely keep him around until I come up with someone better, but unless something changes, this will probably be Arthur's last Quest. I really hate to do it, I have some really cool stuff in store, but I've screwed him up too badly. Again. In other news...what the hell are we supposed to be doing, then? Even re-reading the entire Quest, I have no idea what to do. Quote

You're supposed to be putting down a rebellion by Rogue Lion Knights. If you don't know what to do, you could always go back to ask one of the officials about any recent rebel activity... Quote

I'm sorry to hear that Flipz, but sometimes it can be hard if you put too much dependence upon events that may not pan out in the end, I have to agree with Zepher's style of role-playing and maybe this may be a better subject for the theatre, but it's easier to have a character that reacts to things rather than have predestined reactions already written up for the right moment. This is where role-playing is different from just writing a novel, you are dependent upon other players to not help you write your character's story, but actually write your character's story themselves. It's hard to grasp the fact, but our characters are not the lead roles and everyone else a supporting actor, that perspective is something you have to give up when you become part of Heroica. Arthur, Skrall, Cronk, Atramor, Boomingham, they are now all part of a larger story in which none of them are the main character per say, you as the player have to be willing to give up control to some extent to how your characters evolve. Now I'm not saying that it can't be done, from my read on Arthur, you've been trying to make him go down a darker path, but the opportunities to do so just aren't coming up, to some degree then you have to take on the job of getting him their yourself, you have to use the things the QM gives you and not be too dependent upon other players to draw it out of Arthur. I feel like I'm starting to ramble so I'll stop here and maybe take up the conversation in the theatre. How can you forget what we're supposed to do in quest 31? Raise the troops and burn the woods, smoke every last hiding rebel out of concealment. Quote

To be honest, that never seemed like the real goal, it smelled like a side plot intended to distract us from what we were REALLY supposed to be doing. Quote

Namely, pursuing all the fluff that was added for flavor, while ignoring the actual quest at hand? Quote
Flipz Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 Namely, pursuing all the fluff that was added for flavor, while ignoring the actual quest at hand? See, he knows how to play an RPG! And that settles my IC response, I've blown any chance at a cohesive story for Arthur, might as well go for broke/go out with a bang. Quote
CMP Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 OoC: Oh, look who's back. Thothwick's health/power are fixed, the others all remain humanoid. Gottfried gets special status as one of the actual leaders of the Cult. Shouldn't the Undead at least be...Undead? Quote
swils Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 The main quest'll always be there -- gotta go for that 100% completion! Anyone can stop the moon from falling, but only a true heroof time can fix a marriage, unzombify a zombie, and chase off alien cownappers before worrying about that big ol' moon! Quote

Even re-reading the entire Quest, I have no idea what to do. I haven't been reading the Dastan trilogy, for I don't know the plot, and I have been gone on many occasions in the past while, but I don't think you need to trash your character, after all of this RP, you even said sometimes you screw up, but that doesn't mean it's really bad, you can still play the character. From what it sounds like, there is someone Arthur loves, but now has been put in a position against them, but correct me if I'm wrong, I would like to read about the trilogy when it is done and when it is open to discussion. Feel free to tell me what is going on in a spoiler or a PM, but I don't think you need to get rid of Arthur after this quest. Quote
CorneliusMurdock Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 Shouldn't the Undead at least be...Undead? Agreed. This will be the first time Zoot's Bane has the advantage on anything. I want to slice 'em all to ribbons. To ribbons, I say! Seems like some QMs think throwing humanoids at a darkness gem is okay but the second someone comes along with a diamond encrusted blade, all the evil things are an illusion. Quote

You're telling me. Four damn elements in one weapon and I'm pretty sure they've been useful all but once on this quest. At least one rat in every quest, and when I'm finally ready for a slaughter... Note that said darkness gem is useless if the Hero using it can't roll a hit with it. Quote

Endgame Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 Had to fight with a virus last night. Slowed down my quest-photo-editing process, but I'll manage. Heard the little bugger liked changing folder names, so glad I pruned it so quickly. Quote

You may have a general idea of where you want your character to go, but things will get screwed up a ton. I've made myself look like an idiot through Althior a bunch of times, but I've kept going, and now he's in a bunch of people's role-playing, making him such an important character for some people. Arthur is in a bunch of people's RP, which makes him a very pivotal character in the game. You said it yourself, no risk, no reward. It would be a shame to see a great character such as Arthur leave, and even more of a shame to lose my apprentice! Quote
LEGOman273 Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 I frown, realizing poisining my whip at this time was probably a bad idea. I attack the Knight with my chain whip, then throw my Holy Handgrenade Bomb at Shadeaux. I had been waiting for someone to say this! Quote

Masked Builder Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 What? No more Arthur? Well, I understand if you want too, but I don't think you should, just try to work with what you have. Quote
Dannylonglegs Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 On our first day as man and wife, our house was attacked by the Wolfgang, she was killed. I was nearly dead. Her name....was Cinna.... I lived in Waldurk for years.....I will talk later, I must depart to Waldurk to inquire of something. You do know that the Wolfgang is rather exclusive to the Eubric City and its warring Houses (at least, I'm pretty sure), right? Waldruk definitely has Were-wolves though. ~Insectoid Aristocrat Quote

Palathadric Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 I have been wondering that for a while. We also hadn't seen Maurice in action for a long time in that quest. Quote
