If someone tries to heal an undead monster, do I still roll an attack? Just wondering as it came up in my quest.

Yes, if it's a cleric trying to heal and not a healing item. If you look at the cleric's job class description, you'll see that there's "Heal More", "Heal", "Heal Less" and "No Healing" options in the battle die. You just convert those results as damage towards the enemy - and remember to decrease the cleric's ether if the healing is successful. This also means that the enemy cannot directly harm the cleric. If the Shield-skill Miracle is rolled, though, it should not affect the targeted enemy but the party as usual.

Are saying that if Hero healed/attacked Zombie, and rolled a 5, he wouldn't take damage? And if the adventurer rolled a 6, would he take damage from anything like venom? Sorry for the questions. :sceptic:

Yes, but only in the case where a cleric heals an undead enemy. Besides, the cleric's special guard already protects them from any negative effects included in the enemy's special skills.

Just wondering, why were (Life) Potions changed from red (in the board game) to green (here)? Also, why were the Luck, Strength and Speed Potions omitted? They seem like they could have easily been adapted into the RPG, i.e. the Luck Potion giving you Lucky status for the duration of the battle (like En Sabah Nur's Lucky Dice, but temporary), the Strength Potion might double your Power for 1 battle, and the Speed Potion might make it so you always went first.

Holy hell, cralegoboy! Holy hell!

When creating this game, I did not follow the rules of the boardgame, just adapted and incorporated some of them and made up the rest on my own. I didn't even own any of the Heroica boardgames until a few days ago (I now have Nathuz and Waldurk, so I still need to buy the other two).

I did not really change the color of the potions, I've just grown accustomed to green being the color for health while playing RPG videogames.

And I did not omit those potions on purpose, and it's not hard to include them into the game. In fact, there are three "positive effects" that correspond to those potions, so each of them could give one of these following effects:

Encouraged
– The target inflicts double damage for the next turn.

Hastened
– The target can act twice in the next round.

Lucky
– In the next turn, the target rolls the battle die twice and gets the better result of the two.

As per your suggestion, I'll see that they are included in the near future.

It's good to see great minds thinking alike. You'll be seeing them sooner than you think

we just answered an ad back in the Hall in Freeport, and haven't the slightest who posted the ad, we just trust the Guild to filter out any ignoble 'quests'. Whaddya say?

Thormanil, of course, has no way of knowing what the unfortunate group of adventurers who signed up to participate in the Arena competition actually got themselves into...

Edit:

Haha, so I just realized that "(If) The Elves Dont Ask" doesn't quite equate to "TLDR", as I meant it to  The "A" in "Arr" threw me off, even in my own writing. Derp!

Uhh, "Tell Enough, Don't Reveal" ? haha

I love all these characters guys! Honest to god I do. I really enjoy reading these other quests, it's really awesome and I can't wait to go questing with some of you. and hosting quests for some of you! Everyone is doing great of course, but I just want to give shout outs to some people's characters who really intrigue me. Gotta love De'kra and his clicking, and everyone on the quest foor Donny Dozenhands (loved the interaction and the choice y'all made). And Nyx of course. . I like all my nicknames. Anyway, just thought I'd share some of the positive thoughts floating around.

Wholeheartedly agreed. De'kra is one of my favorite characters so far (then, I like a lot of the characters), and I really enjoyed reading Quest #6. The small group of that specific combination was fantastic.

Of course, the first one they go for is my fellow Wisconsinite. What do you have against the cheeseheads?

My favorite characters list as follows. In no particular order:

De'kra: A very cool little dude for reasons unknown to me.

Cronk: Always witty and has a cool way of speaking.

Docken: One eyed guys are always cool.

Tesni: A very great character because of her barbaric personality. Though she should be barbaric.

Boomingham: Just what I tried to shoot for in my original character.

Cinna: The background of this character is fantastic! The journal really sells her.

En Sabuh Nur: a reeal kick-megabluck kinda guy. Never get mad at him!

Althior: Whoever came up with this guy is a real genious. :innocent:

Of course I have many more, but I don't want you reading forever.

Wow, De'kra has recognition, and its positive. I didn't expect him to be noticed, especially by the veterans. I personally worry that its too obvious what he is; secretly he is a demonic manifestation of lust, thats why everyone likes him. Why else would he care so much about Abraxas and what people knew about demons, he wanted to make sure his territory was safe. And he can't understand love, because he is its corruption. Joking aside, I am not sure who my favorite character is, but Cronk is awesome and Cinna seems to go the extra mile with her journel.

Of course! I'm not claiming a singular favorite, that's both impossible and unfair to the players! I was complimenting everyone on nice characters and for making me want to read a bunch of extra quests!

Also, I'm happy people like Boomingham! He likes all of you! Except the smelly evil orcs!

Who's smelly now? Boomingham probably hasn't bathed since the Orc Invasion.

Cronk very cleanly. Cronk have rubber ducky. Cronk likes make it go "squeak".

Tesni: A very great character because of her barbaric personality.

My favorite Tesni moment is from Quest #4 when she gets bit by a spider then goes into a berzerker frenzy for multiple rounds with zero effect on the undead target. Silly barbarians. :)

He was trapped in limbo for a while..... but.... yeah, he probably hasn't bathed. I like making a terrible person lovable. Boomingham is racist, tries to seduce woman, drinks too much and boosts, and yet at least one person likes him, and I enjoy writing him.

 Compliments Sandy. Here we all are talking about how much we love the other players, but we'd have nothing to like if it weren't for you! Also, I can't wait to quest with your character. Boomingham is going to love her.

Yikes! *huh* Just the thought of Boomingham and Ellaria as a couple makes me shudder...

But many thanks of the compliments. I'm doing this for you guys, although I'm having great fun myself at the same time.

Hm. That caught me off-guard. Let's say you both spent a turn exchanging it, deal?

I agree with this decision. Trading items in the middle of a battle is equal to using them, so those involved should spend their next turn doing the trade.

Capt.JohnPaul, there's a minor issue with your battle results with the clerics. It roused some questions in your topic, but I'll adress the issue here so that I'll not mess up the quest.

I believe he is affected, as it only doesn't affect him if he is healing an undead monster, I'll go check at the rules right now.

EDIT: Nevermind, you are right! Aveal the Black Sheep- you may attack.

Clerics are immune to taking damage while healing, so to avoid confusion you should use "No Healing" in the results when they fail, instead of "Damage" or "Special Guard".

Furthermore, "Special Guard" only protects from the negative effects caused by the special skills, not from the damage caused by them. So in your battle, Barur should have gained 6 damage, but not be stunned. (This was changed after the initial quests, so I understand the confusion.)

Hope this solves the issue. :classic:

And another question, I've tried to search through this whole thread and couldn't find anything about it:

Can gems imbued in a weapon be used for elemental spells?
