Missed elemental spells don't cost ether:

But we've had this discussion before. I could've sworn Sandy said somewhere else that it would make sense for missed spells to cost ether, since you're technically spending the ether to cast them, they just fail to hit the target.

I've always done it that way, but who am I to argue with the official rules?

I was thinking the same. Either Sandy did agree that missed spells cost an ether and never updated the the FAQ or there's a glitch in the matrix because I remember it the same way you do. If you shoot and miss your round isn't refunded.

That's true. I can remember a discussion about it a while back, but I can't recall the conclusion. Sealing though, seems different, in my opinion. A failed sealing isn't a miss strike, it's more of a strike that never went off in the first place, or that's how I see it. :sceptic:

I thought of it as "You conjured the spell by chanting, but mispronounced a word on the scroll, causing it to dissolve." However, who am i to argue with the rulebook? It's the only thing a QM fears.

"Rogue, Thief, Badass Scoundrel, the list goes on and on,"

Just goes to show you can be a respectful nemesis.

"Sorrow, demon crossed out heretic crossed out undead level 6 monster crossed out rogue."

It was Finnegan, I swear! :cry_sad::grin:

Nah, something like that sounds more like Pretzel's moud operandi.

Finnegan would probbaly just scribble over the entire thing in red crayon.

You would know.

Yeah. Atramor completely respects Althior's aptitude for spells.

...He just more strongly recognizes the fact that he is unable to deal a single physical hit. Weakling.

Damn rules for Sages... :hmpf_bad::tongue:

Out of curiosity, where did finnegan come from? I've never been able to find his origin post. I know he is your spirit companion of sorts (and that he has a tendency to sully everything he touches  ), but that is it.

I think it's a bad sign that I don't even remember. :look: I think one day he was just there.

i was just reading through the start of the R&D topic and I think I found it.

Didn't you put your mage senses in a bottle or something?:blush:

Consistently stunning set, darkdragon.

I agree, you never disappoint.

Your style is also unique in the fact that you occassionally include the players in your pictures, an added bonus that really increases the asthetic appeal of your quest. :sweet:

I agree, that adds a lot. I considered doing that in Q4, but my fantasy/castle collection is so small...if any of you have heroes made only from Star Wars pieces, though...

Other than myself, I don't think I have the pieces for any one active hero. The closest I can get is Foog's character, with no weapon.

Tell me about it. I was going to make a scene with my PCs in it, but I think the only characters in Heroica that I could make were Nyx, Boomingham, and Althior with his old clothes.

A Heroica-appropriate character made exclusively using Star Wars pieces, eh? Challenge accepted!

Though, looking down the list in the Hall... Dak looks doable, though I'm not sure where the hairpiece is from. And Costy's Nagure, surely you can mimic that one?

*Despises Out of Character comments even necessary ones.

*Heavily roleplays/describes at least one round of combat per battle. Eases up to let the players describe the results of their character's actions.

*Attempts to drain his players' inventory reserves.

By chance, I was browsing Jeb's profile, and read over his QM philosophy. I feel so enlightened! It explains why I got the impression that I'd annoyed him during the bridge sequence, for sure .

It also explains why Thormanil's backpack has felt significantly lighter. And since I'm on the topic, I know the last couple of weeks have been a bit bland due to outlying circumstances, but I'll make more of an effort to get involved in the RP aspect of the quest again, battles and all, I promise! The last battle was especially lacking in character, though JMB at least kept up a nice banter with the Paladin, heh.

@darkdragon, I have to agree, your sets are gorgeous. Well, sets from any and all QMs usually are, but since yours were in the spotlight today, I was compelled to compliment them.

 When Sandy asked us to design our own character for the Test Quest, I quickly threw Galen together from Dastan (how appropriate!) and CMF Elf parts... I never thought that his XP would be recorded and that the character would come back. He's overdue for an update, especially now that he was bestowed a strange piece of headgear!
