NOW: Big Question for the interim. This is something that I've given a lot of thought to, but what do you think the end of the game might be? I know that it's years away, but I actually hope that it isn't too far away. I'd prefer the game to go out with a bang after four years rather than fizzle out after seven... but that's neither here nor there (and not a slight to Sandy, even the best games must close out eventually, especially RPGs, as they are a story and the players want a conclusion eventually). What do you think it might entail? All the heroes on one quest? Would that be possible? Will heroes be able to die at the end if KO'd. That would be awesome and I'd totally support it. Who might the final boss battle be against? The Wolfgang? The Houses? Someone we have yet to meet? Will there even be that cut and dry of a conclusion? Will the Hall be destroyed? Will the Veterans play a role? There's so much to wonder. As we approach the one year anniversary, I pose the three questions that are most on my mind: Where do you see the (main) story of Heroica going in the next year, how long do you think Heroica will last, and what is your BEST prediction for the final events of the game when that times comes?

Ok, here is what I am HOPING. That there will be a major event that will re-shape Eubric as we know it. This event will involve the Wolfgang most probably, heroes will pick a side, the veterans will appear and be badass, and Eubric will be on a changing point: Either the Houses wipe out the Wolfgang, the Wolfgang takes over reign of Eubric, or Heroica intervenes between both and does something awesome. This would be an event that every hero could participate in, pick a side, not just a single battle, but multiple things that will require different aspects of the game. (Imagine gold being a factor, reputation totals, and yes, a battle).

After this, I hope the game is not done, what I hope will happen is this: BOOM the entire game jumps forward one year in time. Then we can see how Eubric has really changed, and indeed how the heroes have coped with the events. And then... instead of a finish of the game.... BOOM new major struggle.

Of course the game is going to end sometime, I think it depends on how many people will still be interested in it. I kinda feel we should do a bit more to get new players into it, but I don't really know how.

Aww... I don't want the game to end. :cry_sad: But if it did, it should end with a massive battle against undead. Or maybe orcs, who have started an uprising? Then when the game ends, later it could start up again, but it is a different "chapter" if you know what I mean?

When Sandy comes back and we get all the new unlimited battle quests and what not, perhaps he/she could advertise something on the front page.

I'm kinda hoping something along this line. Towards the end of the game, a little Heroica Civil War. Heroes fighting heroes while trying to win the "war." Something like the Civil War period of the Marvel Comics.:wub:

I don't know how the game will end, but I think it would be cool to have another thread just for posting your character's conclusions and what happens to them once the game is done. How the spend the rest of their lives, how they leave Eubric, how long after they die, etc.

Myyrdnn, I just want to say that I'm impressed by your dynamic with the proggs. This juggernaut fellow doesn't seem too impressed, though.

So it is our main idea that all characters die? Hopefully, we could turn the "conclusion" thread into a hall of fame. Where everyone becomes a semi-veteran. Then as I said, hopefully a new "chapter" would be able to be played, and we all get a new character with maybe some new rules. :classic:

Well, I'm already dead, so...

Sorrow/Syntax can live forever, assuming they don't get killed by physical means.

That's why we have an epic battle. :innocent: Then we all die and lose, and the next Heroica story picks up, where new heroes fight back and regain control. (That's what I'm hoping for anyways. :moar: )

Is it me or has Cronk had some shocking luck in battles this quest...

(not that Nerwen is doing all that much better!)

You said it. I haven't had a streak of bad luck this long since my first quest where Cronk slept through the final battle. If anybody wants to trade Cronk some lucky dice...

Good thing Cronk can take some hits.

I was about to agree with Chromeknight, this has to be some kind of record for most misses/ineffective rounds ever. Maybe if it comes down to just the archer we should all let only Cronk attack him to exact his revenge...

No, though I would be super excited to host the quest that reunites those three. :sceptic: That would be AWESOME. Seeing those three who quested together in their first quest... after all this time... that would be awesome. Someone should host reunion quests for some of the original quest groups!

The final battle of Dastan should be started by then though! It could be a pretty long battle, but still, we're very close to you all coming home... and then I'm hoping to scoop up some Wren Vets to even out the sign-ups for Quest 38.

I'd love to sign-up for Quest 38, but as I hinted in the Hall I'm horridly busy for the next month and a half working at camp, and there's going to be large chunks of time where I'm totally out of contact.

Fighting to the death?

I like it. :devil::laugh:

I'm definitely going to sign for Quest #38 (How could I resist?), but first I'm going to do a bit of roleplay building up to agreeing to go. :classic:

That's what I call an ol' fashion smack-down.

Is that directed to us? :cry_sad: What kind of sick, sick dice are you using??

I do hope for something very similar.

Here are my specific hopes:

-End in a super ultimate quest/battle/puzzle/whatever where when heroes are KO'd, they die forever.

-If we do something afterwards, we jump forward like 50 years. That way we could reboot without reusing characters, and the landscape of the Heroica world would have significantly changed. Maybe a Steam-punk RPG in the same world could step forth.

BUT, of course, this is YEARS away, real time. I just really really hope that we conclude the story before it fizzles into nothing, because that would depress me. Read the old Eurobricks RPG game. It was really awesome and active for a long while... and then the story just disappeared.

I'd love to sign-up for Quest 38, but as I hinted in the Hall I'm horridly busy for the next month and a half working at camp, and there's going to be large chunks of time where I'm totally out of contact.

Yeah, I got the hint, it's too bad, would have loved to have you around. You best come back for the final Wren Quest though!

And Haldor, you should definitely come back. If you, Nur and WBD sign up for it, there's your reunion quest right there. And two of you served in Haddon, which would make me happy.

Is that directed to us? :cry_sad: What kind of sick, sick dice are you using??

Apparently my dice agree with me that quests should be super challenging. I actually can think of a pretty air-tight strategy to win this battle for you guys... but it would make the final battle even tougher. It's almost like your QM set it up that way.

Here is, in my opinion, where we should say "No." It's in interesting idea, but Steampunk just isn't my thing. Then it wouldn't be Heroica anymore. But if we keep it fantasy, I'm okay.

Here's an interesting thought, one of the heroes is so lucky and has nostrums and loaded die and everything, that in the final battle, he doesn't get KO'd. :look:

Use a Bomb XX? Nevermind.
