Adam Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 Adam, you also need to complete a quest before hosting, as well as have a firm grasp of the rules. You mean my quest can't have spaceships and be played in iambic pentameter simultaneously on reddit and eurobricks and also all participants have to declare their allegiance to Xenu? Well, if that's the case, I'm leaving! Quote

Brickdoctor Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 Is there Space trains? Space trains! A quest in iambic pentameter? So it would be like Heroica, by Shakespeare... *scribble scribble* Quote

Endgame Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 Believe it or not, when I first joined, my first quest ideas were about as ridiculous as that. One entailed Zoot opening holes in space and nuking the planet with Choas Bombs. Of course, I only entertained the notion for 3 seconds, but still. Quote

I don't even know whoy "Zoot" is, and I still think that's crazy! ... Actually, that sounds awesome. Quote
Zepher Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 (edited) Way to spoil the final Wren quest for everyone. AWESOME new figure, the Customizer!! Super cool. 2nd Edit: Jebs AND Endgame, remind me to tell you all my thoughts on both of your quests when they are done. I have only positive things to say. Edited July 28, 2012 by Zepher Quote
Zepher Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 Thanks, you two! I'm reading through the QM Lounge now and I'll be paying close attention to that "Behind the scenes". Not to advertise myself and Wren too much... but... I did in fact publish the outline for Quest 19. Outline I might do the same for Quest 29, 30, and 31... though our outline has changed drastically from what we first had and my records haven't been updated for JimBees and BD's changes. It's also the longest read ever, and probably not terribly exciting. Quote

That was a very detailed and helpful outline and certainly something I will be relying on in the future. Kick-megablocks! Quote
Endgame Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 Will do, Zepher. Well, 36ers, it has been fun. But I'm afraid that in this final battle, I do in fact have to kill you. Quote
Tachyon Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 Sandy, would a pistol be counted as a handcannon if I rerolled a character using a pistol as his weapon ? Quote
Endgame Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 Sandy, would a pistol be counted as a handcannon if I rerolled a character using a pistol as his weapon ? Rerolling already? Mizuki still has a lot of room to grow, though - if you need help roleplaying you could always check out heroica theatre. Quote

Scubacarrot Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 I would say that pistols are too far in the technilogical capabilities of the world of Heroica... Quote
Capt.JohnPaul Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 I would say that pistols are too far in the technilogical capabilities of the world of Heroica... I agree. Even when Heroica started, I thought handcannons were a bit of a stretch. But the did have them, so I'm not complaining. Quote
Flipz Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 I would say that pistols are too far in the technilogical capabilities of the world of Heroica... Agreed, however... Zakura, even though guns per se are a little outside the Heroica "flavor", that doesn't mean you can't still use the Guns and Gunplay tropes you have in mind, substituting bows or throwing knives or handcannons for actual guns. Indeed, thinking about the logical consequences of (for example) a Mexican Standoff or a Pretty Little Headshot or Pistol Whipping or a Last Breath Bullet in a medieval-era setting can lead you in very interesting directions (for example, unless you're stupid (or desperate) enough to shoot an enemy archer while they have their bow drawn, there's not really a chance of a Last Breath Bullet, and even then it's more likely their shot will just go wild as soon as you hit them; with a crossbow, on the other hand...). And of course, several tropes (i.e. Marked Bullet, Shoot the Bullet (arrows are substantially slower than actual bullets), and Shoot the Rope, to name a few) are more realistic with archery weapons than with bullets and pistols. TL;DR, The Gunslinger doesn't need to use guns; Hawkeye (or at least the movie incarnation) is an excellent example of a Gunslinger who uses a bow and arrow. Gunplay tropes that NEED to make an appearance in Heroica: Two Shots From Behind The Bar, Trench Coat Warfare, Pillow Pistol (preferably some spectacular subversion), and I Just Shot Marvin In The Face (a good way to subvert Pillow Pistol, now that I think of it... ). Quote
Scubacarrot Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 Trenchcoat warfare is one I'm planning to do with Guts once he hits alchemist. But the guns will be explosives. Just saying. Quote

TheBoyWonder Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 Im having some great ideas in the quest. First training troops, then inventing a new style of bomb, next a counter weight catapult. Quote

Scorpiox Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 (edited) This is from JohnPaul's old character, Bacari the ranger. Sort of applies to Shoot Marvin in the Face, except with a cow, that Elgar was about to eat whole. No you won't trouble maker. Bacari shoots his crossbow into the cow, the bolt sticks out. Woops, that was one of my poison bolts, I wouldn't eat that. This is another example of accidental shooting. Bacari's crossbow fires into the wooden floor. "Misfire!" And Bacari dives across a table. I still think that the bar-fight is one of the funniest things that has happened in Heroica, I think of Docken now everytime I flip a table. Edited July 28, 2012 by Scorpiox Quote

The_Customizer Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 Good times! If only the Hall could be like that again. Indeed, that was one of the best times we ever had in the hall! Now it seems most discussion is in this thread, and just in the quests. Not enough people roleplaying in the hall. Quote
