CMP Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 (edited) And does the 'generic artifact only' thing still apply? It's still killing me that I wouldn't be able to use the Robe of the Archmagi as a Necromancer. Edited August 1, 2012 by CallMePie Quote
Sandy Posted August 1, 2012 Author Posted August 1, 2012 We are officially beyond the point in the Lottery where unfortunately not everyone will win a prize. And it's only been up for some hours... I also had one more question regarding the artifacts: if a class that the artifact is suitable for isn't specified, does that mean that it is suitable for anyone, including expert classes? For example, the spellbound gloves would be wearable by a Chi Monk and any martial hit would have 5 power added to the elemental-imbued attack? And does the 'generic artifact only' thing still apply? It's still killing me that I wouldn't be able to use the Robe of the Archmagi as a Necromancer. The Expert Classes can use any artefacts that do not specify its suitability. So a Chi Monk can use Spellbound Gloves, but a Necromancer cannot use the Robe of the Archmagi. Who knows, maybe there will be a "Robe of the Necromancer" in the distant future? Quote
Endgame Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 We have "Robe of the Elven necromancer", if I recall. Also, with my luck, I'm going to a win an ether core. Quote

Endgame Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 ...Suitable for mages and clerics. ... Beep. Error 404. Does not compute. Does not compute. Critical system failure. Internal processors melting into slag. I'm assuming it'll be adapted to suit Necromancer, though. Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 I actually like the idea of artifacts still being limited to some of the base classes. I was considering them the other day, and wishing that we had a Barbarian Tensi in the Dastan Trilogy, or that I was still a Ranger, as at higher levels these classes can slaughter multiple enemies which is a valued skill in larger battles. My point is, I don't think any class should be considered obsolete, sure there are some that are more powerful, but there should be a downside to it as well. Quote
CMP Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 Yeah, but the bonuses of upgrading to an advanced or expert class are just way too tempting. The change in gameplay and the extra stats, namely. Still, maybe there'll be an artifact that Hastens the undead in the future. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 ...Suitable for mages and clerics. Yeah, there was no Necromancer class when I made that item. It's nothing special, anyways, just some extra SP. Quote
Pandora Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 at higher levels these classes can slaughter multiple enemies which is a valued skill in larger battles I miss the Mage's Shield. Imagine (randomly rolling) a Darkness spell that hit all enemies with WP 13 and level 20. It'd be rather handy right now. It still seems odd to me that the two classes that have all-enemy attacking Shield skills (Barbarian and Mage) should combine to form an Advanced class that... doesn't. In fact, most times I'm better off rolling a critical hit than a Shield. Quote
Masked Builder Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 I think they already were. No one dared fight CMP when he could deadly poison you easily I did and I whipped his butt! Quote
CMP Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 (edited) I did and I whipped his butt! Your shield deals damage for some deranged reason there, it was an unfair fight. Remove that bit in the rules and we'll try again. It still seems odd to me that the two classes that have all-enemy attacking Shield skills (Barbarian and Mage) should combine to form an Advanced class that... doesn't. In fact, most times I'm better off rolling a critical hit than a Shield. Maybe it's because you're trying to kill people with a book? You could always switch classes. K-Nut Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 Oh. You said you'd made 100. Nevermind. D'oh. I can see how that's confusing. Quote
Zepher Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 When will someone host a quest where Swashbuckler is the reward? I want to be that class so very badly. So very very badly. If anyone wants Boomingham on their quest, just put that as the reward. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 Swashbucklers should get temporary stat bonuses for making puns during attacks and making grand entrances to battles. Quote
