Endgame Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 Wow, Zepher - that is a ton! mind as well follow suit: The Proggs are actually going to get a trilogy: The tentative names for 2 and 3 are, respectively Product Testing (More of a gaiden, really), and the big wrap up to the tale of the Proggs, Death's Homecoming. After that? I have no bloody idea of what to do! Quote
Capt.JohnPaul Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 Don't know where else to put this, but thought, since it's our one year anniversary month, I would share a little bit about what my future thoughts for the game are. just to prove that I enjoy the game as much as our other hardcore fans. Flipz does in-depth analysis, I plan future quests. SO, here are ALL the quests I intend to host over the game's history, and the NPCs who might populate them (will populate them), along with the dates I hope to host them: Wren #4 - Reoccurring NPCs in the Wren Quests (August... if Dastan ever ends ) Wren #5 - Reoccurring NPCs in the Wren Quests (Winter 2012) Guffington #2 - Reoccurring NPCs in the Guffington & Wren Quests (Spring 2013) Guffington #3 - Reoccurring NPCs in the Guffington & Wren & Animals Quests (Summer 2013) Big War Quest - Reoccurring NPCs in the Big War Quests, Possibly Animals Quests (Summer 2013) NPC Finale Quest - Reoccuring NPCs in the Guffington & Wren & Animals & Big War Quest (Winter 2013) After that, I'm retiring. I think I'll do this too, list the quests I've done so far, and list future ones I plan. Sacred Sands Hunt for the Draugr Princess Panic Now I would like to plan a quest with the Fantome Croise's boss and all the henchmen. The Croise story will probably be a trilogy or 4 quests, depending on how they turn out. Quote
Sandy Posted August 2, 2012 Author Posted August 2, 2012 Yes, I'm with Pandora on this one. I've QM'd a quest with a Battle Mage, and I can vouch for her when she says the shield isn't really up to snuff with all the others. I'll look into it. I don't want the skill to be just Frenzy and Magic Burst added together (because that would be too powerful), but there's plenty of other options. ALSO, and this is a change I REALLY feel strongly about: I think that when using scrolls, on a roll of 5 or 6, the person using the scroll should take damage. Scrolls function in almost all ways like a spell, except that the person using the scroll CAN NOT take damage. It's essentially a impenetrable shield until that person's ether runs out. That can take upwards for 20 rounds. I really really don't find that to be fair. When using scrolls, the players knows with 100% certainty they will be safe when the results go up. No other item in the game that can be used against an opponent assures the players of that. Again, I've never really lobbied for a change in any of the rules, but I feel really passionately about this one, and think my case is a logical one. What about healing, then? It just fails, the healer does not take damage from it. Or the use of other items? Or just sitting out a round? This is exactly why I implemented Free Hits in the first place - so that nobody can just sit around and wait while poison does its dirty work on the enemy (with one notable exception in the Rogues vs. Count Shadeaux battle ). Personally I think Battle Mage's shield is fine, power wise (Having QM'ed Nyx as well). But it is kinda underwhelming if you come from a Mage's Shield effect which is super powerful. I would try and find something maybe more appropiate for the combination of barbarian and mage, but it is fine balance wise, if people were wondering. And running in circles is a viable strategy, I'm telling you. Quote

Yes, I agree with you about healing, that's part of my point actually! That doesn't target an enemy, so free hits are taken. The scroll targets the enemy, so they are literally unable to deal damage: no free hits, and the rolls can't hurt the user either. Using items allows for free hits, as does sitting out a round. I suppose using a scroll could count as using an item, and the targeted enemy could still get free his, but it just makes more sense to me if fives and sixes function normally. When you use a spell on an enemy, that's how fives and sixes work, and scrolls function essentially as a spell in all shapes and forms. Quote
Endgame Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 And running in circles is a viable strategy, I'm telling you. "Quick, Blackenord is getting away with Emperor Serpentine! I'll run in circles until he yields and apologizes!" Yeeeaaaaahhh... Not so much. Quote

Endgame Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 Maybe he'll get dizzy. I'd assume he was running in the direction opposite of you if he was trying to get away. Quote
CMP Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 (edited) In all honesty, it's a good strategy, that's how me and Rumble Strike defeated an enemy very similar to Slim Yscum in a PM sidequest. Literally poisoned him and just kept up a constant stream of healing while we took free hits. Edited August 2, 2012 by CallMePie Quote
Endgame Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 Q36 is doing something similar too, only having 1 person clobber the death progg at a time if anyone is even partially damaged. "And it is why I hate you all. Groan..." Quote
Endgame Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 I'm dead. Run like the wind! And maybe you will live. Quote

Let me make a ruling here: using a scroll on an enemy does not count as targetting it, thus the enemy will get a Free Hit unless someone actually attacks it. I'll add it to the FAQ. Thanks for bringing this to my attention, I did not realize there was such a problem before this. Quote
TheBoyWonder Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 I've noticed a few lurkers since the frontpaged. Let's hope they sign up. Quote

Rumble Strike Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 I'm getting a real Eeyore vibe from Pigley, he's so morose. Which makes Russel the swashbuckling crab Tigger! Quote

TheBoyWonder Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 K-Nut knows what I plan for my second character - A Dark Elemental Mage. My plan is it will go to sorcerer, then Necromancer, then Mime. Quote
