CMP Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 I've seen Atramor's face used like 4 times, once with his actual torso, it's no big deal. Quote
Tanma Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 (edited) Maybe Jebs just used the same face. I know that is a possibility, so I double checked while typing the post. The NPC in question also dons the same clothes save the hat, odd for someone with so many unique NPCs. The communicationg solely by chirping was quite honestly what swung it past coincidence for me. Of course as I said it could be an Imp like Hybros, which would cover the face, size, and voice. But its form reflects De'kra move than Hybros, so I felt I had to make this comment Edited August 9, 2012 by Tanma Quote
Zepher Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 Wedge09, Atramor cannot tell you anything, he is in Dastan. If you asked the question in character, and he answered in character, that would make sense, but otherwise you got to be careful and check who is in the hall. Quote
Darkdragon Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 Tanma, just out of curiosity did you PM the QM first before calling out in here? Seems like that could save some questions and problems, no? If I ever do something that offends any player/QM/Sandy, I always hope that they will PM me first. For one thing a complaint in here could get lost. I know there are whole pages of this thread I have missed while I was at Brickworld, for instance. Quote

I suppose I could remove the post here, and send a copy of the message over private messages. Yeah I think I will do that. Quote
Wedge09 Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 Excuse me, I don't think it. I correct it immediately Quote
JimBee Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 Just as a general note, if anyone wants to do something with imps, could they please run it by me first? I don't mean to "copyright" an entire species, but I do have plans for it. In fact, it would be great if someone wanted to do something with imps, I would just like to discuss it with them. (This is in complete disregard to any coincidence between an NPC in Quest 35 and any PCs existing. The situation just reminded me of this). Quote

Zepher Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 (edited) Re-reading Q4... there was so much good stuff in there. For example: "Did you hear that from Normorn? If I were you I'd do the exact opposite of whatever he told you to do. "About eleven winters ago, there was another group of heroes that came to the Brobric Elves for help. Like naive fools, they listened to Normorn as if what he spoke was divine revelation. He told them that the treasure they sought was in Brobric Pass. They died there, every single one of them. Needless to say, the treasure - "Normorn's Folly", as I like to call it - was never found. "If you ask me, Normorn shouldn't even hold a position within our leadership. I tell you, he's using some sort of mind control to ensure he stays in Lord Ricroar's good graces. For sixteen winters, I have attempted to convince Lord Ricroar that Normorn is useless dead weight. We don't need spies. Someday, I promise myself, it'll be different. I just have to find a way to prove Normorn wrong." Someone MUST revisit Normorn's Folly in some quest. What a great story. Our troubles clearly aren't over, though. From the brush we hear a gruff voice. "You see? I told you they'd be here." There is no answer, for a dark figure is already launching himself at us. Following him out of the trees is a Pongcanis warrior carrying an enormous axe. "A Blue Assassin? They don't come cheap. Whoever it is that wants us dead must have quite a bit of Gold to spend." I personally will be using a Blue Assassin in some future quest in some way. We have a whole order of Assassins waiting for us out there, why isn't anyone putting them to good use?! JimBee Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 Aren't Imps like... minor demons...? In certain mythology/fantasy, yes, but "demon" is a term that I don't really want to associate with imps in the world of Heroica. Why do you ask? I personally will be using a Blue Assassin in some future quest in some way. We have a whole order of Assassins waiting for us out there, why isn't anyone putting them to good use?! Well you could say that Bluehood from Quest 28 was in this organization. Combining these two stories from separate quests would make an interesting quest of its own, I think. Of course, that's up to WBD and Doc to decide. Quote
CMP Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 Judging by their cloaks, Red Assassins sound even worse. Maybe an eternal rivalry of some kind? Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 Red vs. Blue all over again sounds like the pirates forum. If anyone is interested in pursuing the Order of the Crimson Crown they are free to role those in to a league of Assassins. I considered doing something along a thieves guild or assassin's guild but it's kind of an overused clishe. Quote

Why do you ask? Well, because he was an Imp, I've always viewed Hybros as a demon, even if he does not know it himself. If you want to make him something else entirely, I have to ask why pick the name Imp for his race... Damn it JimB, making it confusing! Quote

I don't even remember that first one. But now that you mention it, Normorn's Folly was a very real deposit of Gold in Brobric Pass, and had the party decided to listen to swils and gone there and dug around enough, they could have been significantly richer. (with the gold deposits and the snowy environment, the name was a reference to Seward's Folly) Oh, and as for the Blue Assassins, they were introduced only so I could insert the clue that the guilty party had a considerable amount of Gold, and I've never had any plans for the group, so if anyone wants to develop a story around them, feel free to do so; my only requirement is that you maintain the fact that Blue Assassins charge a lot of Gold. Endgame Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 I whipped up a Blue Assasin leader mock-up named "Blue Death" for fun just to kill a few minutes. I may use this design later, but anyone else can feel free to take the design. Quote

If not, that makes it very difficult for non-LDD QMs to use the character for anything. Quote
Zepher Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 I don't know if there even needs to be a quest about them. Just having them pop up here and there, much like the Frog Paladins or Mossycloak, would be a fun way to build them collaboratively without having a quest centered on them. Quote

Perhaps once I get a basic quest unded my belt. I've batted around lots of ideas for quests, written up basic outlines and flowcharts, trying to find something that I can both manage as a quest, and actually build sets for. I've mostly scrapped the ideas I originally proposed to Sandy a while back and am toying with one that I think could be "the one", considering the story, playability, hostability, and buildability (taking into account the theme of pieces that I have available and my own ability to design and build the sets). Im taking a trip home to maryland in december, and while Im home, Im going to find a way to get my entire collection up to alaska, heh. Quote

Same here, I got several ideas for Quests and I have even sent one to Sandy for approval (and got his approval), but working it out in real life is a lot harder than I thought. Building backdrops and planning out the whole thing is way more time consuming than I would've thought it to be. Also, since it's been a while since I sent my Quest pitch, I've been reworking it over and over in my head, and now I'm no longer quite satisfied with my original idea and want to make it a trilogy of some sorts . My hat's truly off to all those QM's hosting those beautiful quests! You have my utter respect . Eventually, I also want to host a Quest in a Norse setting once. I have rough ideas to weave it into my trilogy (still in planning fase!), but again it'll be very difficult to actually work it out in a way that satisfies me. EDIT: Also wanted to say I really LOVE the Ma'ari quest. Great stuff there! Edited August 10, 2012 by Khorne Quote

CMP Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Cool parties for both quests. Indeed, both could cause some serious carnage and sound like good chances for roleplaying. Quote

I hate to say it, but I think the instructions here are unclear and I don't see a mention of posting in the new topic. Maybe you linked the wrong picture? Quote
