Scubacarrot Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 The unlimited Quest looks great, a little different than I predicted a while back in this very topic, but positively so! Very much looking forward to following it. Also I think Guts will want to visit those fields sooner or later! Slight question: With 500 gold being 50 GP, does 250 GP for a Mithril seem a bit... Much? I mean, for the same GP you can get 2500 gold, and in the past Mithril has been sold for 500-1000 gold, I think? Saving the GP for the Mithril would only benefit after a person has a weapon of higher than WP:19, but you won't have the added WP of inbetween, so... Am I even making any sense? I don't even know. My suggestion would be to lower it to 150. On another note: I also look forward to seeing how Quest 43 develops, three of the four people have met Nuitan and Lyren, so it should be interesting! Quote
Brickdoctor Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Do you want the WP 50 weapon that ignores SP or not? I half expect it to be replaced by the Shovel of Damnation after somebody gets it. I didn't say I didn't want it... Quote
CMP Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 There's more to the rarity of Mythril than the price. You can't just buy it anywhere - I believe it's only shown up in around 3 or 4 quests. The odds of a hero having that much on them when they actually run into a merchant selling it is unlikely. Quote
K-Nut Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Now imagine that Pitchfork plus some Mythril. Quote

Although, there are currently four mithril shards in the game, if someone would make an effort to get them all... Quote
CMP Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 I didn't say I didn't want it... But it's not a ranged weapon, it would ruin your near-unbeatable strategy of extreme SP from the back row. I would wait for the Slingshot of Butchery. Quote

Brickdoctor Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 If anyone does get a piece of Mythril together, I would be willing to buy it for 750 Gold, if I still have all my Gold and Flipz pays me back after I finish Q39.... Quote

Not if I get it first! I have one piece, I'm buying up all other pieces! So there! Quote

CMP Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Trowel of Slaughter. I'm pretty sure that normal weapon upgrades are going to grind to a halt once people start reaching WP: 20. It'd just be too expensive to do it without Mythril at that point. On the bright side, the special effect weapons that QMs drop can only get more interesting. Quote
Tanma Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 So I have finally updated De'kra's image, hopefully it follows all rules. Its a little...blurry, but I think it suits him. Besides all the other pictures I get of him have a big glare mark on his face. Quote
Sisco Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Personally, I'll be saving up for this: 100 GP: Medal of Glory (Artefact/Accessory) – Mark of true talent that allows the wearer to gain triple experience from battles. (1 per hero) Imagine how much quicker it would be to get to the expert classes and master classes... Only 14 consecutive battles to get 105 GP, so it's very possible! Quote

Alternatively, just drop more WP:5-15 weapons (once people in a given quest have WP:19+). Either those lower WP weapons will get sold to other players, or vendored off for gold to put towards more straight WP upgrades. Vendor trash. It's a valid and effective mechanic for limiting a quester's income during a quest without negatively affecting the gold they can leave the quest with. Quote

The Sword of the Elven Blademaster already has the piercing effect of the Pitchfork of Domination... it'd just take a ridiculous amount of Gold to get it to WP: 50. Quote

It grants a full level, whereas with triple experience you'd be gaining only 3/4s of a level per battle. There's going to be half a dozen heroes running around in a field fighting monsters all hopped up on mushrooms and completely drunk on Meads and Nostrums at some point. Sisco Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Actually, once you hit level 30, it'll be cheaper and faster to buy Experience Mushrooms. It grants a full level, whereas with triple experience you'd be gaining only 3/4s of a level per battle. True. But for now, I'm level 19, so I'll be going for the medal. Then again, if we do somehow manage to pull off 14 consecutive battles, I'll be level 24... So it'd take 6 Experience Mushrooms to get to level 30, where the mushrooms are worth more than the medal. 6 Experience mushrooms cost 150 GP, whereas a glory medal costs 100 GP, 50 GP cheaper than the mushrooms. Also, the medal is a one-time cost and is worth it in battles where I'm not gaining GP, whereas I'd have to stay in the Fields to keep earning GP to keep buying mushrooms to keep leveling up. So I think I'll stick with the medal for now. Assuming you're on the Unlimited Quest often enough to buy all those XP 'Shrooms. The Medal of Glory will work no matter where you are and whether or not you're gaining GP. And Brickdoctor swoops in and makes my long-winded point in two sentences. Quote
Scubacarrot Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 When are the Dastan Quests expected to end? Quote
Sandy Posted August 12, 2012 Author Posted August 12, 2012 Unlimited Quest looks great. I'm a bit curious--are the threshold monsters one-time deals, or will each new party that enters have to (and/or have the chance to) beat the threshold monsters? Also, I know you hate it when people comment on something before we've even had a chance to see it in action, and that it'll be a long time before it becomes an issue.. but I think there should be an upkeep cost on that trident pitchfork. It'll be an awfully disappointing second place finish for whoever just barely gets beaten out in the race to 500 GP. The Threshold Monsters are one-of-a-kind: once a party beats them, they will be gone forever, and the way to the outer reaches they guarded will be open to everyone. If someone gets the Pitchfork of Domination, it will be replaced by some other item. Slight question: With 500 gold being 50 GP, does 250 GP for a Mithril seem a bit... Much? I mean, for the same GP you can get 2500 gold, and in the past Mithril has been sold for 500-1000 gold, I think? My suggestion would be to lower it to 150. I've intentionally kept Mythril a very rare and expensive item. The Fields are the first place where it is attainable by anyone, so of course it has to be more expensive than the ones appearing in the quests. Wouldn't be as awesome as the defensive equivalent - Bucket of Virtual Invulnerability (SP: 50; cannot be pierced and applies to all Damage; Headwear). Now that's something that could replace the pitchfork once someone gets it. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 When are the Dastan Quests expected to end? I think that this battle should end within a week. Once WBD divides the loot, the original parties will split back up into their original threads for their conclusions. I don't know about the other two quests, but Q31 should only take a couple days to wrap up once the players are back in that thread, depending on how much time they take at the opportunities I'll provide to talk to the NPCs.
