Pyrovisionary Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 Just wait and see, most quests have roleplaying oppertunities aplenty. I am level 1. 200 health doesn't sound easy to me. Quote
Scorpiox Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 I am level 1. 200 health doesn't sound easy to me. But you'll be with other heroes, and will probably level up a bit during the quest. Everybody has to start somewhere, don't be put off a quest because of a rumour of the boss fight. Quote

Scorpiox Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 I was informed that you levelled up once per quest. Or was it once per battle...... Yeah, Ok. Thanks. You can read all this stuff on the first page of this topic, but yeah, every successful battle while not knocked out will gain you one full level of experiance. But after you reach level 10, you will only gain half a level per battle, and so on. I know I certainly haven'y completed 19 quests... Quote
Sandy Posted September 3, 2012 Author Posted September 3, 2012 Arrows, Bolts, Pellets and other assorted forms of ammunition, 5 units for 1 gold. Give those stupid rangers an upkeep cost! And add yet one more thing to remember in battles? Do you think I'm crazy? Quote
Endgame Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 And add yet one more thing to remember in battles? Do you think I'm crazy? It'd be the same as ether... Arrow Packet: 20 arrows. 10 gold. Quote
swils Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 And add yet one more thing to remember in battles? Do you think I'm crazy? Think? No, just hoping... It'd be the same as ether... Arrow Packet: 20 arrows. 10 gold. Precisely! Quote
Brickdoctor Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 If Rangers had an Ammo stat just as Mages have an Ether stat, why would anyone choose to be a Ranger instead of a Mage? If you're going to have a limit on your number of shots, why wouldn't you just be a Mage and get the elemental attack and option of using a melee weapon? The only advantages to being a Ranger would be the Animal Talk and Aim. The main point of being a Ranger in the first place is being able to attack at full strength from the Back Row without needing Ether or retrieving a weapon. Quote
Sandy Posted September 3, 2012 Author Posted September 3, 2012 It'd be the same as ether... Arrow Packet: 20 arrows. 10 gold. No, it wouldn't. Several classes can use both ranged weapons AND spells/healing, and either way it would add one more stat for the host to micromanage. It would also considerably nerf the ranged classes, since arrows could easily run out. Or would they be retrievable during/after the battle? That's again one more thing to remember! No, the concept is too much to add to the battles. If this game was programmed and played automatically, it would probably be a nice addition, but not when it's "human-powered". Besides, QMs would start inventing "Super Arrows of Infinite Piercing", and then I'd have to tweak half the rules again to fit all these changes again. Trust me, I've had quite enough of tweaking the rules for the moment being... Quote

Edit: I don't actually think they should have limited ammo, I was just building off of JMB trying to have an etherless mage cast another spell. With no appreciation (from his class) for limited ammo, he simply overlooked that little detail Edited September 3, 2012 by swils Quote
CMP Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 Because Legolas! Yeah, those weakling Mages would snap their spines trying to surf down a staircase or go jump around on giant elephants. Quote
swils Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 Yeah, those weakling Mages would snap their spines trying to surf down a staircase or go jump around on giant elephants. Nah, they could definitely pull it off... they'd just have to expend 5-10 ether to do any fancy acrobatics. Quote

Capt.JohnPaul Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 I am level 1. 200 health doesn't sound easy to me. Don't worry, by the time for the boss fight, you'll probably be around level 6 or something- with Sorrow, one of the not-so greatest heroes of all. Look back at Princess Panic, the Fantome Croise had 1000 health, and his bodyguards had 300 about. Now the Fantome Croise is at 200, and his bodyguards less than 100. (Though the may change.) Also, I suggest reading quest 37 to get an insight of the storyline. Quote

swils Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 So, I started writing up a big analysis on 'fair' division of loot and expenses-by-class and what not, but decided to trim it down. A lot. So: If you're the party leader, how do you see fit to distribute the shiny coins and such? Do you just split it evenly? Or perhaps you consider the cost of any items consumed and skew distribution accordingly? If you're going to do that, are you also going to give more to the guy with a hard-hitting weapon who obviously spent a lot of gold getting it to that point so that he could help the party tackle Big Bad Enemy? What about that wily lass who robbed the enemies blind before they dropped, does she get to see a dime of the dropped loot, or should she be happy with her small fortune? Should she be expected to spread that around with the party? Sure, it's her ability, but then, would she have survived those few special damage rolls if the friendly neighborhood cleric hadn't used their own abilities to heal her? I hope I never get stuck as party leader, I know I'll end up leaving someone feeling like I've sleighted them Quote
Scorpiox Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 "You should have come prepared. I am of more value battling right now." See, Haldor is everybody's favourite party leader, just look at his friends swarming to his aid. Quote

Palathadric Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 We Mages get no respect... Become a Pretzelian Monk, my friend. I just realized that I've signed up Monk Pretzel for a quest that he is not at all in agreement with. This is harder than I thought it would be. I am really uncertain what he will do. Perhaps, just go along, not realizing quite what's going on around him. Quote
JimBee Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 The only thing I have to say to that is that Rogues and the like should never get shorted because of their ability to steal gold. Quote
