K-Nut Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 What does the burned effect do? I can't seem to find it in the rules. If I recall correctly, Doc used it in Quest #17 with the Hwachaaa. I think it was -2 health each round I believe. Quote
Flipz Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 What does the burned effect do? I can't seem to find it in the rules. It just takes away a certain amount of Health every Round. The exact amount of burn damage varies by QM, but usually is around 2-4 Damage per round; since it's not a universal "set" amount it should be listed in the enemy stats if a Burn-inducing effect is present. Yeah, it's just a renamed mechanic taken from the Poisoned effect, so that it would make more sense in the quest. As such, there's no definition of the Damage dealt, so QMs can change that according to the strength of the heroes. Quote
Zepher Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 Sorry WBD. I love that this quest let's me play up the TWO traits of Boomingham I haven't really gotten to touch on yet. His assholeness towards Orcs and Ogres, and his tactical mind as a general. He's a funny and actually noble person in a lot of ways, and a lot of quests have highlighted that... and only that. I'm so glad to let some other traits shine through now. Quote

No problem, I'm Boomingham's starting to get some chances to show off that personality trait, but remember Skrall will only take so much bigotry as well before he starts bashing heads in. Flipz Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 As Arthur almost learned the hard way. Hey, fun game for someone if they have free time (ha! ) and are feeling bored: catalogue which Quests have the most pictures. Although, I think it'd basically be a run between Doc, Zeph, and Sandy again. Quote

Brickdoctor Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 I could've sworn that there used to be pictures in the Library showing the important NPCs of each house, but I can't find them anymore. Does anyone know where they went? Quote

Brickdoctor Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 OoC: I suppose goggle translater is not allowed to translate swedish? Or regardless do we just not understand them? Roleplayers will tell you that if your character doesn't understand the language in-game, then you can't know what they're saying, but it's not actually against the rules. Players like myself will just use a translator to figure out what they're saying, and use any out-of-character knowledge that we can to our advantage. Quote
Scorpiox Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 (edited) He thought to himself, I can pretend to not know a little Swedish, and see what kind of information we can get out of them. People say all kinds of things when they think you cant understand them. Siercon speaks to the vikings whilst avoiding the spider. Motioning to the Vikings Siercon faked a scared helpless face and said in a panicked voice "Hel-lo! Doo yoo speaka' any english?" OoC: I suppose goggle translater is not allowed to translate swedish? Or regardless do we just not understand them? Yeah, you should totally have your character speak Swedish, because that'll help with Norsemen; who come from Norway. Unfortunately there are no Danes or Swedes Vikings in Heroica, Siercon would work a treat. Edited September 9, 2012 by Scorpiox Quote
Palathadric Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 If you go on 36's follow-up, I'll cement my place as Number 1 as "Palathadric's most hated" list. Flare knows a little bit about it, but don't you dare ask him or sufer consequences. 1 magic gold coin appears in Flare's inventory for no purpose whatsoever. I was reading in one of the older quests about Cleric's being immune to negative effects. I looked it up in the rules and couldn't find anything concerning it, so I guess this rule was discarded, correct? Quote

Palathadric Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 (edited) Woah! Time to dance big and ugly. Raven attempts to stab the ogre with his main gauche again, but retreats to the back row. Just to let you know, Raven Brickroft, your health is presently 7/7, while the Ogre's level is 15, so even if you stand in the back row, you would still be instantly knocked out if you role "damage." Therefore, if you attack next round, as opposed to using a potion on Scuba as he suggested, I would advise that you attack from the front row. Thanks, Brickdoctor. Okay, looking again, I saw it. Sandy Posted September 9, 2012 Author Posted September 9, 2012 I was reading in one of the older quests about Cleric's being immune to negative effects. I looked it up in the rules and couldn't find anything concerning it, so I guess this rule was discarded, correct? Clerics used to be immune to negative effects, but now they are just resistant. If you read the description of the Cleric battle skills, you'll find that the roll of "6" is called "Special Guard", which gives the cleric a 50% chance to avoid being inflicted with any negative effect that comes with the enemy's special skill. Flipz Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 ...Aaaaaaaaaaaaaand I didn't roll for that once! Heck, I've never seen it rolled ever. It almost seems like a second job trait. Yeah, Sandy usually indicates the success or failure of Special Guard the way he does for Lucky and Confusion rolls. I know that if I ever get my act together and QM a Quest, I'll be putting that sort of thing down, if only to remind myself of the results of the roll. Quote

Same here, but for some reason I still have a bad feeling about this. Given the sodium content of sea water, we could just have Nyx tip them over with her aquamarine and then electrocute them all with her topaz. Edited September 9, 2012 by Waterbrick Down Quote
