Sandy Posted September 20, 2012 Author Posted September 20, 2012 @44Hunger Games reference. Can't remember who exactly said it. Was it Effie? I'm actually in the process of reading Mockingjay, the third book of the series. I'm also contemplating on adding an NPC named "Catnip Everdream" to a future quest. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 No, that's a classic quote. This is just a silly way of saying 'good luck'. Agreed. Star Wars references are better! Though I must admit that my knowledge of the Hunger Games goes no further than that quote and the general concept of the plot; didn't watch the movie, didn't read the books, and have no intention of doing either. Not really worth it. Suzanne Collins' first series is much more worth it!! It addresses the same issues, but has better characters and better setting. I'm actually kind of sad that the second series got so much attention opposed to the first. I did love the second book of the Hunger Games, but the first was only decent... and the third... Quote
Masked Builder Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 No, that's a classic quote. This is just a silly way of saying 'good luck'. Close enough in my book. I'm also contemplating on adding an NPC named "Catnip Everdream" to a future quest. I did love the second book of the Hunger Games, but the first was only decent... and the third... They were all a bit predictable to me. I don't know why. Quote

Scorpiox Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 I ain't for you Elgar. I ain't doin' it for the Hall's reputation, nor for the girl or any morality concerns. I want those damned boots." What an awesome quote! Quote
Zepher Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 Well, they are the best artifact in the game so far. +10 power is the same as upgrading your weapon 10 times, which would cost swils 1750 gold for one of his weapons. Add the fact that it effects BOTH his weapons, and has no negative effects... my Bluehood is 2/5th as good, and costs be 6 ether to wear. Quote
swils Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 Eh, I'm acting under the assumption that the +10 damage would be applied after any modifiers. A flat +10 power would be, strictly speaking, utterly ridiculous at this stage of the game. Quote
Zepher Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 Psh. That would be if you were a logical person and capable of reading. ( ) Quote

A flat +10 power would be, strictly speaking, utterly ridiculous at this stage of the game. Well, it's still 10 flat damage on every hit, critical hit, and damaging shield attacks, BEFORE elemental advantage. It's still pretty major. Quote
swils Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 Logic be damned. I (will hopefully)... have... the powerrrr! *holds boots towards the sky* Quote
CMP Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 Plus the rogue's carrying over 500 gold in daggers... Quote
swils Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 (edited) @Scuba, Again, I'm assuimg that it will just be that flat ten damage after modifiers. So for a basic barbarian great crit, it might be Total Damage=(Level+3*WP)+10. I'm not sure how it would work on elemental attacks, +20 makes sense, but that's really strong. A flat +10 nonelemental seems reasonable (relatively speaking), which would limit it's usefulness against Undead (hey, a weakness is still a weakness!). It wouldn't have any affect on my healing whenever Thorm's strutting around as a Shaman, either. Maybe it should only be active when attacking from the front row? Bah, theorizing over an item I might not even get (and that, if I did get in it's current state, I would fully expect Sandy to step in and say "Nuh-uh, hold on there cowboy" to) Edit 1: Shh, don't remind Jeb about Rogue's giant wallet until after he's got the enemy stats locked in! Edit 2: As an extension of the Shaman thing, I actually doubt it would affect the shield roll, as that's a ritual casting rather than a melee hit. Yet another weakness! I might just poke enough holes in these things to keep 'em as is! Heh Edited September 20, 2012 by swils Quote

Bah, theorizing over an item I might not even get (and that, if I did get in it's current state, I would fully expect Sandy to step in and say "Nuh-uh, hold on there cowboy" to) Critical hit would be as you said, then the hit gets doubled for elemental let's say, and also doubled if you are encouraged. So it's up to 40 extra damage on a hit under the right conditions. And it DOES affect healing as well. There have been more things with flat power. Quote
CMP Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 (edited) And it DOES affect healing as well. It says +10 to melee attacks. I guess if using a Healing Staff, it'd have a difference. Edited September 20, 2012 by CallMePie Quote
Scubacarrot Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 It says +10 to melee attacks. I guess if using a Healing Staff, it'd have a difference. Oh. Well that's unneccesarily complicated. Quote
swils Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 (edited) Fighter’s Boots(+10 damage from melee attacks) It only specifies damage, not power, and then melee attacks as well. So unless I was smacking a partner over the head with a healing rod (which I think definitely counts as a melee attack ), it wouldn't affect healing. And since Encouraged doubles power, not actual damage, it wouldn't be affected either. Ninja'ed by Pie. Edited September 20, 2012 by swils Quote
CMP Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 Oh. Well that's unneccesarily complicated. Unnecessarily powerful, maybe, but there've been crazier items. Quote
swils Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 (edited) If everyone decides that it's too complicated, then I'd gladly settle for a flat "Permanently Encouraged" bonus instead (C'mon Jeb, lemme at those booties!). Definitely meant to say booties. Talk like a pirate day was yesterday! Silly brain. Edited September 20, 2012 by swils Quote

Yeah, + 10 flat damage I would say would be at the end of every calculation, so yeah, not AS powerful. And no, that's not complicated at all, no Permanent effect items, they are too OP. No more of those should be created, it's bad. Edited September 20, 2012 by Scubacarrot Quote

Flipz Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 I SO want to know what the Oracle would say about Arthur. Although, seeing that one of Arthur's biggest plot points won't be revealed until the end of Quest 38, it's probably best that she can't say anything right now. Also, Capt. JohnPaul, you are officially as insane as Sarge. On another note, what is up with QMs flat-out denying mage effects and status effects? First the Archivist, now Ennoc's Splinter... If I didn't know any better, I'd say Jebs had constructed Quest 35's battle stats specifically to theoretically screw over Arthur as much as possible. Quote

The main boss enemy usually has several immunities. The QMs don't want Scrolls of Blinding and Sealing to pretty much render their boss battle pointless. Though, giving the enemy all positive effects is a bit over the top. Quote
