Oh ho! I can control Finnegan? I could have some fun with this.

Only if you don't kill him. But you must somehow take my compass away!

I posted a dissertation on gems and rare items in the QM lounge a little back, but it can be slightly annoying having to make monsters at 100 health just because everybody in the party has all the gems and elemental weapons

Sorry Masked Builder, the compass does come in handy, but that's why you put the loot in the opposite direction as the bait :classic:

By the way Sandy, where did you get the inspiration for the Poltergeist?

*oh2* What a great idea! :classic: Perhaps Sandy can update the Marketplace topic and have a feature where you can haggle on super rare items!

Whoa, wait, what? I thought there actually was a merchant who came through with the gems! But apparently not.

Oh, you see. When we are talking about my quest, and someone says, "Merchant," only one thing comes to mind.

Okay then!

It's really okay but it, at least I think it does, makes it less fun for you guys.

I'm way ahead of you.

The Marketplace will get a new visitor closer to Halloween.

OoC: Please note that the Spectres are undead, so they will not be damaged by normal attacks. Magic spells and healing damage them, though. Party Leader, will anyone's target change because of this?

I can imagine the characters swinging wildly, their attacks passing through the ghosts and having looks of wtf on their faces.

Let the die roll!

Issue fixed, thanks Rumble Strike. Yes your original assumption was correct. You've also anticipated one of my pet peeves for the upcoming quest which you'll see tomorrow, so stay tuned for a small bonus.

On another note:

...Patricia continued. “You will become a hero of Heroica, and we will not slit your throat right here.”

After the man stayed silent for a bit, she added:” Guts, you leave me no choice, I got orders from higher up.”

The man, named Guts Holla, was surprised by the offer, even if he didn’t show it, after thinking about it and looking for escape routes, he decided that he would take Patricia’s offer, being a hero couldn’t possibly be worse than being dead, right?...

I've heard some strange tales in the hall, but forced heroism is a first, I can't wait to see where this goes

Thanks for the confirmation WBD. I know you roleplay your character really well and I look forward to see what you do as a Quest Master.

I'm assuming from your take on things in the QM Lounge thread that the pet peeve is the availability of high powered/elemental weapons. I think we may lose our weapons or they may be temporarily depowered or something similar in order to make it easier to balance the game.

It's what I'm thinking of doing in my Quest at any rate.

No, my pet peeve is Out of Character Comments, I know I use them too  but wait for the quest topic and then you'll see. As to weapons and gems, I don't mind them, I just think they should be rarer, but you'll get to keep your axe so don't worry. It's my job to think up a counter balance to keep the quest challenging not simply take things away from you, heck if I wanted to make it easy on myself I could just have you and Pie get bonked on the head so that you would have to play with level 1 stats for the entirety of the quest, so that I can calculate enemy stats more easily. Hmmm...:grin::tongue:

Exactly! If each quest would start with stripping down the players, then what would be the point of accumulating any items or growing in power. The players are supposed to get more powerful the more they play, but of course there's such a thing as too much too soon in this case as well.

Nobody has even hit the advanced job classes yet, and already we have a few powerhouses in our midst. But then again, everything's subjective in this game, because there will constantly be more powerful weapons and better equipment.

"Got some nice cloaks and robes over here, too, for you Mages, Rogues, and Clerics:"

Cloak of the Blue Assassin
(SP: 1, suitable for Rogues) - Grants the ability to dodge attacks faster, providing a small amount of protection against attack. Costs 30 Gold.

Robe of Magi
(SP: 1, suitable for Mages and Clerics) - Magically provides a small amount of protection against attack. Costs 30 Gold.

Robe of Thaumaturges
(suitable for Clerics) - Grants the ability to absorb an attack should the wearer choose to do so, expending his or her Ether by the amount of Damage divided by 3. Costs 50 Gold.

"Robes like this one are available only in Brobric:"

Cloak of the Elven Spy
(suitable for Rogues) - Grants the ability to spy on one's enemies, allowing the wearer to view the enemies' stats before deciding whether or not to attack, if such a choice presents itself. Costs 50 Gold.

Why does the universe hate De'kra so? Not only is his luck in battle terrible, but now he can't get items that might make him useful. I don't think that he defiled some shrine before he joined Heroica, so why does the cosmos punish him?

Because Brickdoctor is making it as hard as possible for you.

Because De'kra needs to think of a way he could make money in this Quest.

He could even try to steal the items, if he wanted to.

Ooh, I like those robes and cloaks, Brickdoctor! Very innovative, even though now QMs have to check SP from other classes than knights as well.

I really like the system you invented for the horses, but I'm not certain about their usefulness outside your quest... Maybe others will apply a similar travel-system to their quests, though, in which case buying a horse would prove to be beneficial. I'm just wondering where the heroes will put their horses when they're not riding them.

De'kra only learned the concept of personal property just before reaching Heroica, after it got beaten into him. Apparently people don't like you breaking their vases to look for valuables, even though there are so many colorful gems within. And so he learned that people can own things and have the right to smash you with a frying pan until you leave. would think they would let short people with funny hats get away with it, but apparently not.

The Heroica Stable, of course. Maintained by yours truly. Costs 5 Gold per horse per Quest you fail to get into. :sweet:

Plus I plan to keep the concept of Nights for my own future Quests.
