OOC. Does anyone know how to change the colors of texts, as I no longer have that option. The only reason I can still bold is because I know the code for it. But if I can't do colored text, then I can't really do much with De'kra and I can't post as often. So any suggestions?

What browser do you use? I can still do it.

How may races of elves do we know of? I know there's the Brobric Elves, and I've mentioned that Luke isn't one of them. Then it seems likely that at least one of all the other elves isn't a member of one of those two races, plus there's at least one half-elven (unspecified elven race) and one half-Brobric Elf.

Well, Jess is from some other wood-elf race who live in the forests and have black/brown hair.

Hey, aren't you the one who originally suggested it? To my knowledge, no, it hasn't actually been tried.

Alright, then. I was merely playing with the thought of allowing Phoenix Essences to instantly kill the undead when I posted that bit to the Library (hence Byblos is asking, not declaring). Now I've decided against allowing it, simply because it would make battles against undead too easy. Potions still work on the undead, though.

When I reminded the players of Quest#44 about their Phoenix Incenses, I meant that they were going to get knocked out a lot, so they should use what was given to them.

A new section has been added to the NPC index! At the top of the page I have included three "Featured NPCs" who will change monthly (I should be able to remember to paste and copy 3 bios a month). "The One Who You NEED To Know" is a NPC who has just become important again (Zed, thanks to Sycamore... though Fantome Croise would work too right now, or Death Progg). "The One We Want To See Featured Again" is the one we (I) want to see more of (Attina is kind of badass). "The One Everyone Loves" is an NPC that I deem particularly popular. Ratabor is particularly well liked by the players... and QMs, I think! Anyone can PM me suggestions for these spots in November if they feel particularly strongly about them.

Yes, I am editing it quest by quest. It's much easier. When Quest 28, all those who appeared will have their Bios updated to reflect this. When Quest 17 goes up in full, a lot of those who that quest will also be added to the Quest 4 post, for example.

JimBee, did I ever get Quest 29 NPCs? CJP, Princess Panic? Jebs, Maa'ri?

EDIT: Those are legitimate questions, I may have just sorted them strangely. CJP, for example, I already found the ones I thought I was missing.

Lord Belril - Elf - Brobric Elves

Appeared in: Quest 17

A rare elven necromancer, Lord Belril was well-versed in the harnessing of darker powers, a practice which deformed and aged him until his appearance was completely uncharacteristic of an elf. He was slain at Bric'Bay Fort, along with his leader, Lord Davril. It is unknown where Lord Belril's allegiances lay or what his activities were before allying himself with Lord Davril. In a bizzare incident at Castle Bric'bay, his spirit was shown to be capable of resurrecting itself, given the right circumstances, but he was banished back to his afterlife before he could cause too much trouble.

Dead, but may rise again

On a more serious note, did you ever get the blurbs for the non-Quest NPCs? I know a few of us wrote blurbs back in August, but I don't know if you ever got them...

I would have thought that it would have been covered by the note on all the undead: immune to sudden death.

No, immune to sudden death means immune to assassinations or other insta-kills. It doesn't protect from loss of health or, in this case, healing. If an enemy had five max health and someone took them out instantly with a regular hit, that does not count as OHKO. The same goes for healing, if a potion or healing staff were used on the same enemy (undead), then that would not count as OHKO.

So due the Phoenix Essence/Incense healing nature, I wouldn't consider it a OHKO. Although I do think it's pretty close, but only in this instance. I agree with Sandy's decision to not allow revival to count as "sudden death", because that would mean any class could instakill or mass-instakill any undead monster.

If I was allowed, I don't think it would be a game breaker. At 50g a pop for an essence to take out one enemy it's quite steep. And incenses are not available for sale. It's the trade off of, 'do I use this now to instakill an underling undead (assuming all important undead are tagged immune to instakill) or do I save it for when his boss chews up my buddy'. That's a valid tactical dilemma.

I can see that, but still... in a situation like the battle in Quest 44, it would definitely be a game breaker. We would take out all but three or four enemies without expending any health or ether.

Some specials from the final Wren quest... still very far away... just trying to get you scared.

Soul Eater – ENEMY eats the hero’s soul. The hero is sealed until the end of the quest. Cannot be remedied.

Backbreaker – ENEMY breaks the hero’s back. The hero is fragile until the end of the quest. Cannot be remedied.

*oh2* Oh yeh, now this is the live or die fighting I've been waiting for.

Oh, by the way Flipz, yes, I do have those. I'll edit them in at some point in the revision. Also, everyone should thank Sandy and WBD for lending me a hand with the revisions.

If anyone has any favorite moments from previous Wren Quests (both story-wise and battle mechanic-wise) please tell me! I am already implementing perma-effects, split party dynamics, choice making challenge, riddles/puzzles, different immunities and passive specials (bigger scale strange mechanics from 38, such as the Angel and his auras). Is there anything else I'm missing that people want to see?

The amount of enemies you're seeing in each battle is ridiculous. It's starting to look like every battle will be that big. *huh* There will be enemy types you're already familiar with, many of whom have travelled over from Dastan, so some battles will seem very much Dastan.

EDIT: There are also, currently, spread over the course of a few battles, a total of 9 enemies I'd consider "boss strength". I'm extremely excited, if you can't tell.

Secrets. Lots and lots and lots of secrets. Heroes, allies, and enemies--I'd really love for all of the Heroes, once confirmed for the Quest, to send you a bunch of their Heroes' backstory/secrets info, and for it all to come out over the course of the Quest. And not when they're expecting it, either--I really want to see the secrets burst out of hiding, rather than coming out in the fun but rather controlled circumstances of my stories Quest-hijacking from 38.

Speaking of Quest-hijacking, I'd love to see some more of that. Part of what made Dastan fun was that anything could happen, once we finally figured that out--the plot we thought we were following would get hijacked and taken over by other characters in unexpected ways, it was glorious. I'd like to see more of that, as well as more chances to have out-of-battle experiences--you've been the vertiable king of those so far in the Wren Quests, but I'd love to see it turned Up To Eleven.

Humor's important too. In retrospect, my biggest problem with Dastan is that I didn't let Arthur be funny when I had the impulse to, I simply let him get Cerebus Syndrome. A bit of levity will help keep things from getting too dark.

Lastly, *spoilery secrets that will be PM'd to you once I get back from the show I'm going to go see*.:devil:

The trouble with allowing you guys to hijack the quest is that I'm at college. ALL pictures must be taken beforehand. I'm currently building in options that I can do taking multiple pictures of different situations and inserting the ones that you guys pick, but I can't give the free reign that I like. Quests I run over the summer will maintain the freedom that I actually like.

I've got some fun NPCs returning too. I do want to be careful of that, but Poletad is always good for a laugh, and I'm excited to use Everyman again. He should be fun too.

Again, I know it's two months away (as of today), but I did another round of planning tonight, and things are really shaping up and finalizing, so I want all the feedback now. I hope no one minds me cluttering the thread a little.
