Scorpiox Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 But the main reason for not having created my character yet, is a) not having nice parts for it and b) not having had the right idea for my character yet. I'd be perfectly happy to mock-up some figure designs for you in PM if you get any ideas, just let me know if want to take me up on my offer. As for the character itself, well, we're always open for recruitment here at the Norse side. Quote

I can do your minifig for you, as well. Everyone here knows the extent of my fig part collection by now... As far as your character goes, if you want to stand out, a female cleric or barbarian who is not a human or an elf is the way to go. Dwarves, orcs, ogres, goblins, beastfolk, etc. are heavily underused. Quote

PsyKater Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 (edited) Wow, I am totally stunned by your nice offerings. Thank you very much! The biggest problem is the lack of an idea. But I got an idea this morning on the train. Let me develop it and then I will ask for a minifig design. (Don't know what to say, many thanks ) I can do your minifig for you, as well. But let me ask, as I do not know if I understand the sentence correct. 1) If I want to stand out (have something special), you advice me to go with a female, cleric/babarian, not human, not elf (other race). 2) Dwarves, orcs, ogres, goblins, beastfolgs etc. are races I could use, as there are not many yet. Did I understand that right? (I know that I am free to choose my character's race and gender, but tips like that are highly recommended) As for the character itself, well, we're always open for recruitment here at the Norse side. This "Norse" thing is an origin specification? So some humans, elves, orcs etc. come from "Nord"? Or is it like a "subrace" within the humans? Is there a place (library, quest etc) where I can learn more about this? I won't take this too serious but I want to be satisfied with my little friend. Edited November 1, 2012 by PsyKater Quote

'Nords' in the Heroica universe are those humans who originate from the continent 'Vortland', and are very similar in culture and design to the real historic 'Viking' civilisations, hence the naming after the Norwegian vikings, Norsemen. Pyrovisionary Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 As one of the newer players, I don't really know, but what class' shield does more damage and makes more gold; Rogue or raider Quote
CMP Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Depends on the battle. The more enemies and the stronger enemies, almost surely Raider. The stronger your hero gets, in conjunction with a stronger weapon or Mead, the more gold you get out of Mug. Quote

Palathadric Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Oops, sorry for using a "Y" in "Croy-zay." I meant it to be like poison. Psykater got it right on. Endgame, I also say progg like in clog. With the spelling, are there really that many options for how one may say "Progg"? I alternated between pronouncing Croise, as in rhyming with "choice" or rhyming with "roi", don't know why... Oh, and PsyKater, I would love to make a character for you...of course, looks and appearance will not alternate much from my good friend the monk. Quote

It's very interesting that, but true I personally find Cronk or Nagure more interesting than Sarge or Haldor. Docken is an exception. Docken is awesome. Perhaps a race and gender thing should be added to the acting guide. I've seen far to many male human rogues. I would consider recreating a character but for fear of losing all that I have done (Not much). And going back to Balance of a character's pros and cons. I cannot think of a single pro for Sarge. I suppose that you mustn't rush creating a character. Or else you end up like me. Confused. Then again, Sarge is a pirate! Although I will not disclose the actual way that I created him. And look at me. Every time I comment on general discussion I make a fool of myself :P I do have 2 good ideas though. 1. A zombie that uses his own dislocated, skeletal arm as a sword in battle. 2. A blind cleric guided by a spirit eye given to him by his god. Edited November 1, 2012 by Skyrimguy Quote

CMP Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 I'd post an update on Quest 51's sign-ups, but it'd just be summarizing the last two posts. Quote
Zepher Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 AND the NPCs of the month have been updated again! Death Progg has been highlighted as we near the end of the Progg quests! The Proggs deserve to be featured (and if they don't all die an etheral death at the end of the quest, I will certainly be asking to use them personally in future quests ). Byverion the Maginastra may be the NPC I MOST want to see featured again. Don't kid yourself, you still lie awake at night wondering who he works for and what his job is. I love him, and hope to see him again, and will also be referencing him in future quests if Rumble Strike allows it. More talks about that later (much later). Finally, Gurnam is featured. Gurnam is a FANTASTIC character. Creepy, fishy, smart, fair, dangerous... he's an enigma in the best way, and I have no doubt we will continue to see QMs with that head continue to use him. If I had that head, I would, hands down. It stands as a testament to WBD that the first two "beloved NPCs" are characters he's created. Donny, Captain Patricia, Homer Singerson, and Sir Poletad were both considered for this position this month. NOTE: If you want your NPC to be put in this position, create a character that OTHER QMs want to steal. Quote
CMP Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 You should just leave Gurnam as The One Everyone Loves. He's just awesome. Quote
PsyKater Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 (edited) Okay, after I have been catched in the act of lurking Heroica, I finally have to come out and create a character. After I refused my very first idea a few days ago (male human rogue, later most probably assassin ), I have now two nice ideas to work with. Perhaps I find time to create a bio at the weekend. Then I will ask you for creating a minifigure. Can this statistic be posted on the wall of the Hall or in the Hero Statistics? I missed it sometimes already. (Or is it somewhere already?) @skyrimguy: I guess there will be this point of regretting your character choice for everyone at some time. It's sure early enough for you to create a new character, but keep in mind that you might not be completely satisfied with him later on as well. And in "real life" you are not able to change your gender, age, origin, skin, (original) hair color as well. You have to live with it. I would try to work with your sarge. He has / is a special character. If you don't like the way he is acting, he could maybe experience something that changed his heart. But remember that it must be something that you are allowed to influence and that it does not come too abrupt. It has to slowly emerge. Though, If you are really unhappy with your class because of his way of fighting or how ot fits to his personality, you should consider to let him die and start new again. You won't lose so much while you already will have learned a lot during this first quest. Edited November 2, 2012 by PsyKater Quote
Flare Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 PsyKater, if you want to be really unique, try a female dwarf - I don't think anyone has done that yet Quote
PsyKater Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 (edited) There is something in my mind like that. :D I'm not into this fantasy stuff, but I can't think of any female dwarf, I know. But I am not sure if I can roleplay a female character as good as a male, esp. when it is a dwarf. So it will be either a female "other race" or a male dwarf. Right now I develop the male dwarf. (I could have bet, there was another dwarf in Heroica as well... ) I already have a name for my male dwarf: Geðlæknir Dauður Pronounced somewhat like "Cath-like-near Doythur" (like in boy and Arthur). If it was female, she could have a nick: Cathy :D or Geðlæknir Heimsk [Cath-like-near Haimsk] Edited November 2, 2012 by PsyKater Quote
CMP Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 None of the current dwarf characters are active, though, and they're actually underdeveloped as far as lore goes. Quote
PsyKater Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 (edited) Can anyone point me out why I should choose cleric instead of mage? The mage is much more appealing to me as it both attacks and heals with its Shield. I have another question as well: Sometimes they are two options what happens when the die is rolled. Do I have to chose what option should take effect in the battle order? (e.g. Being a cleric, I choose before the round starts if I want to attack or heal) While this could explain the Clerics options, I do not understand how the Mage works then. "The mage attacks or spends 1 ether to cast a spell..." Why should I use ether if I can attack? The result will be the same wouldn't it? @Pie Do you talk about NPC dwarves?
