Pyrovisionary Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 Whats artifacts can be upgraded? I have a artifact that +1's to my power. Can I upgrade that? Quote
Pyrovisionary Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 Damn.Because it suits my character well, but is a little underkill. Quote
Zepher Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 Another question, can a rogue, or a cleric even, wield a shield? A huge majority of your questions are answered in the first post of this topic. Reread it! Quote
Pyrovisionary Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 A huge majority of your questions are answered in the first post of this topic. Reread it! Yeah, It was just docken's shield. Then after I asked I remember that he was a warden. Quote
Scubacarrot Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 Maybe someone can answer me real quick. I am rolling the results for the battle, Nyx is healing herself with a healing staff... But she rolled magic counter. Does she knock herself out, or something? or does she just heal the 5 damage? Quote
Zepher Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 I love Healing Staff questions! Whenever Sandy rags on me for complex items, I just bring up the Healing Staff. The Healing Staff NEVER knocks out the user. I'd say this counts as no effect, because technically the enemy in this case is her, so she attacks (heals) herself, and then attacks (hurts) who attacked her... who is her. Okay, let's run it like this in two steps as the description says: Nyx v. Nyx - hit by her attack (successful hit) (+ power amount to health) Nyx v. Nyx - counter (successful counter (+WP amount to health) So actually, technically that should heal her. Quote
Scubacarrot Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 Here's how I would interpretate it, she hits(damages) herself according to her attack (Hit? so Level + WP), but then the attack is WP only, so she is damaged for the amount equal to her level. Quote
Zepher Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 Yeah, but that first hits/damages is with the healing staff, so it technically heals her. Then she will attack her attacker (herself) back with WP, which is again from the healing staff and so heals. Quote
Scorpiox Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 I would think that being damaged by a healing staff would go against the basic principles of the item. In my opinion, any roll of Miss, Damage or Special Damage should just count as a healing failure and have no effect. Quote
Scubacarrot Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 Thanks guys, until further notice, I'm treating it as no healing. Quote
CMP Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 And it's not Magic Counter, Scuba, it's normal Counter. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 I would think that being damaged by a healing staff would go against the basic principles of the item. In my opinion, any roll of Miss, Damage or Special Damage should just count as a healing failure and have no effect. That's what I usually do, too, but Nyx is a Battle Mage, so she rolls Counter, not Damage.I'm with Zeph; if she gets attacked by herself, her attacker (herself) is wielding the Healing Staff, and then she attacks her attacker (herself) with the Healing Staff, so she would get struck by the Healing Staff twice. The first attack would be WP: 5 + Level: 22 = 27 Health restored, and the counter would be WP: 5 = 5 Health restored, so she should heal herself by 32 Health. Quote
Scubacarrot Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 Don't try to confuse me, I'm a wizard and I say it's magical. Quote
CMP Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 Don't try to confuse me, I'm a wizard and I say it's magical. That's only if she's casting a spell. Quote
CMP Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 Details, details. It has a significant impact on the battle if one of our top damage dealers is healed or not, though. Quote
Scubacarrot Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 I'm leaving it at no healing, for now. Maybe Sandy says something differently. Quote
Zepher Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 Yeah, Doc and I have our logic, you have yours! I actually enjoy that the rules are read differently by different QMs, adds some flavor to different quests. I do what I think the rules say, but you should of course do them the way you read them. posades Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 Does using a bomb prevent free hits for the round? Quote
Zepher Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 No, it doesn't because it doesn't target any specific enemies. Quote
Endgame Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 (edited) Also, just to see what other QM's think of this. If Rhodus and/or the Ice Blade are struck with both the Deadly Venom and the Decaying Venom, the Deadly venom will override the Decaying Venom's 3 damage, but it's SP decay will remain. Thus, the targets will lose 10 HP and 1 SP per round. Fair? Complicated? Edited November 5, 2012 by Endgame Quote
Dannylonglegs Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 " Rhodus is immune to any negative effects transmitted via scroll." Well, megabluck. I figured you'd catch on eventually. I should have saved that move. I'll be gone for an hour before I can actually devise a strategy for this battle. Mondays are my busy day. ~Insectoid Aristocrat Quote
