Sleep? I hear that's a common requirement among mere mortals. :hmpf_bad::tongue:

Hehe, I've been reading through the first few pages of this topic, it's hilarious. It's hard to believe there was a time when no one knew what the Advanced Classes were; now it's considered one of the basic things to have in mind when you start your character!

Can I just reiterate that I really, really, really hope that Arthur, Thothwick, De'kra, and Nerwen all get on Quest 51 together?

That'd be a cool party. Dastan veterans, and certainly an interesting roleplaying combination.

On a related note, the sign-up deadline has been delayed to the 16th.

There is a spot for me to make experience with this group of veterans??? :sweet:

Maybe, depending on who's signed up by the time the sign-ups close, since I'll have to balance the battles for the party chosen. :classic:

Holy crap, upon reading through R&D from the beginning, it appears that Tanma predicted Quest 30 over eight months before it departed! *oh2*

I'm curious, are there any plans to incorporate the other regions of the world in quests? Since there is information and backstory on other lands, I have to assume that these nations will come into play one day. I can easily see missions to protect foreign "ambassadors" from assassins, or quests to escort traders to a merchant ship, with rewards of strange exotic weaponry.

...although, Zeph WAS the next person to post... :hmph_bad: :snicker:

Sorry 48ers! I got some dental work done and it is currently hurting more than expected.

Also, ouch. Sylph really can't catch a break, huh? You're gonna have to get some SP...

Yes, really! Looks like I'm not getting a level from this fight. :sceptic:

On a side note though, at least I didn't snark at him at all! But Alex turned out to be right! Should I keep posting the orders, or should someone awake do that?

:laugh_hard::head_back: I kind of thought we could survive at least one more round with out healing, so if we got lucky or something, we wouldn't need to waste a Phoenix Essence.

It's my bad, I put Johon first in the order for no real reason, and I got screwed by my error.

Not that you guys can't win without me, but Galen, as a rogue, you could bail and keep your nostrum for later. Also, who should attack Death this round, assuming Alex is healing our most valuable asset (the only remaining healer, himself)?

So you won't read a letter to help solve a mystery but stealing drugs is okay? :hmpf_bad: I hope it's a laxative.

Scum or dumb, my friend, scum or dumb...

EDIT: A change to my Lion Knight disguise outfit! Because, you know, Arthur still has that from Dastan. Not that I expect it to be useful at all, but I figured that Arthur has Roderick's sword, so I should build a version of the 'fig that actually features it. Note that Arthur's original (Sorcerer) image is still the correct picture to use for the Heroes' Gallery and for most party photos.

EDIT 2: Reading all the old R&D posts is fun.

First Quest I write, Ji Pei all the way...

And lo and behold...

Hey, people in past quests have gained stat boosts for doing such things. And anyway, the heroes have been told specifically not to read the letter, yet no-one said anything about swallowing mysterious pills!

I'm so sorry, we had guests over for the weekend again (it's been the same guests every time, by the way), and I thought I would've had time yesterday to tally the results, but it turned out I didn't. But the guests have left now, so the rest of the day will be dedicated to this game.

The angry crab should have been poisoned, right Sandy? Also, if/when the crabs use their special, do they keep their level/hp when they convert or do they copy the stats from the other one?

I find it interesting that the Pheles Rod, a weapon that grants permanent Aura (and thus requires lots of HP and SP) is a staff, thus meaning it's available for use by Mage-based classes (who generally have the lowest HP and SP). I've been going through my head, and the only classes I can think of that might be able to handle it are Mystic Knights (they have the SP, and if not the best HP bonus, they at least have the highest among Mage-based classes at +7) and Paladins (obviously, with upgradeable SP and a +11 bonus on top of an already high 9 or 10 base HP). Shamans almost made the cut, but the fact that most Cleric- and Barbarian-suitable Artifacts don't grant SP and the fact that their SHIELD may damage them if they fight undead (plus the vulnerability to poisons) means they're a little too fragile to use the Rod. Witches are a special case; while their HP is middling no matter whether they started as a Rogue or a Cleric, the potential for Special Mirror abuse is WAY too good to pass up. If Atramor gets SP:4 or more from an Artifact (heck, a SP:3 Tricorne from the Marketplace would be enough for ONE battle in the Fields), I really, really want to see him borrow the Pheles Rod and spam Special Mirror in a low-level Fields battle.

On another note, it's just now struck me that the amount of base HP you get from your base class stays the same, even when advancing to an Advanced Class; thus, two Level 15 Mystic Knights might have two different HP totals (26 if they started as Mage, or 31 if they started as a Knight). This is a very, very basic (and logical) element, but it's subtly masterful. It just goes to show how the simple elegance of Heroica still shines through, even with more complex elements like Advanced and Expert classes in play.

Speaking of the Pheles Rod, I have a question about it.

It works the same as the Warden's Shield, right? So say if it was equipped on someone with 50 health, giving them 100, they were whittled down to health over 50, but under 100, and then it was unequipped. The hero would just be back at 50 health, judging by Warden's Shield. If it was re-equipped next round, would they have a perfect 100 health again?

And if a Witch were to wield it, would all the Special Damages redirected become Special Mirrors?
