Flipz Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 Really debating whether or not to accept Chalvo's offer...on the one hand, Chi Monk CLEARLY outclasses Bombardier unless a Ranger is using a handcannon already...on the other Bonaparte rep would mean working for a Veteran... Aw, screw it, Arthur hates the Boneys IC, anyway, and the Aoi are cool. Quote
Tanma Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 Go with Chi Monk, they are awesome in general, the closest thing to a Toa in Heroica, and they sound like rodents. Quote
Flipz Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 "I'm a psychologist, fool. I know how to read simple body language." Great saving throw versus admitting you screwed up. (See link. ) Go with Chi Monk, they are awesome in general, the closest thing to a Toa in Heroica, and they sound like rodents. Plus I'll have a class that I can still use Scrolls with, since the Zeigfried story looks like it might be on hold for a while. Incidentally, when I thought Jules was dead I considered trying to take his body to the Zeigfrieds for resurrection. Probably wouldn't have worked, but would have been a neat way to start that plotline up. Quote
Palathadric Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 Wow! Quest #51 is already over and you guys clocked an amazing amount of pages in it as well. It was just 15 days or so. Insane! I have to say that I kind of like these short quests though. Nice one, CMP! Quote
Flipz Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 (edited) you guys clocked an amazing amount of pages in it as well. What did you expect, you have two of the wordiest Heroes ever (one of whom is one of the most over-active in Heroica) in a Quest with a QM who's another of the most active players--and Obelix was amazingly active as well. The only way we could have gotten more pages in that amount of time would be if we had been a Wren Quest. Seriously, though, that was a great, short Quest, Pie. I really enjoyed it, though I have a feeling that we missed a good portion of it by using that compass... Also, I have a feeling I'm about to make Zepher's day... Flipz Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 Say, Pie, what exactly would today's date be in the system that Chalvo used (i.e. "6th day of Harvest")? Quote
CMP Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 Say, Pie, what exactly would today's date be in the system that Chalvo used (i.e. "6th day of Harvest")? I have absolutely no idea. I based it roughly on when Fall actually started, but the document was outdated by the time the Quest started, I had forgotten to update it. Quote
Endgame Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 Great saving throw versus admitting you screwed up. (See link. ) But he is a psychologist! He can read simple body language! Quote
CMP Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 But he is a psychologist! He can read simple body language! Doesn't matter, he didn't say Galen exhibits body language suggesting that Proggs are freaks. Quote
Endgame Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 Well, every thought must have some sort of accompanying physical twitch or something. Quote
JimBee Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 I just wish Tesni and Hybros couldf be there. They have two of the Zoots playthings. Yeah, maybe we'll have enough time to get back. We'll see though, we still have a long ways to go in the Pagoda. I am loving this quest though, so I won't feel as bad if I miss the Wren finale. A party with all the Zoot's Plaything wielders would be cool. Okay, so it seemsto me that the Mystic Knight's shield-skill is currently too powerful, while the Berserker's shield-skill is too weak. Do you agree with me? Should I modify them? For MK, no. Reason is that the enchantment risk (eating all the ether) is a good offset. My totally unbiased opinion. Berserker's definitely needs to be fixed up a bit. I'm okay with Mystic Knight's, the reason being is that if you don't have a broomstick (Cinna is the only one lucky enough to be using one as a main weapon) all that damage is halved. Agreed with the above, Berserkers yes, MK no. And here I am thinking that the Berserker needs upgrading when I thought it was completely OP when the ACs were first announced. Really debating whether or not to accept Chalvo's offer...on the one hand, Chi Monk CLEARLY outclasses Bombardier unless a Ranger is using a handcannon already...on the other Bonaparte rep would mean working for a Veteran... I'm wanting to go Chi Monk as well, but only for RP reasons. As someone who can already shovel in the gold and is permanently hastened and lucky, the CM's shield skill is not that useful (although regaining full ether is a one-of-a-kind skill). I would also be giving up a good amount of strength and skill, not being able to use weapons and becoming a mage-like class from rogue then Assassin. I do think the class would be pretty good for someone that has already been focused on mage skills and items, though. I also really like the Bombardier class, because it offers a lot of opportunity for strategy. And unlike mage-like classes, it doesn't use ether, plus all attacks have the potential to have AoE elemental, and Craft Bomb allows unlimited bombs. I can imagine someone like Erdathcath doing a lot of damage in that class. Quote
Zepher Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 Yeah, maybe we'll have enough time to get back. We'll see though, we still have a long ways to go in the Pagoda. I am loving this quest though, so I won't feel as bad if I miss the Wren finale. A party with all the Zoot's Plaything wielders would be cool. Yeah yeah, I know YOU'D be okay missing it, but would I be okay with you missing it. Besides, you took that damn Rod with you! I need that thing around. The quest will be 10 times cooler with it. I love the Pogoda, but I hope everyone in it dies a swift and easy death. Quote
CMP Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 Yeah yeah, I know YOU'D be okay missing it, but would I be okay with you missing it. Besides, you took that damn Rod with you! I need that thing around. The quest will be 10 times cooler with it. Agreed. Quote
Zepher Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 Besides, I had a dream about the final Wren Quest recently (one of the only two dreams I've had about Heroica in its entire run so far, so, not too bizarre) and Hybros was ABSOLUTELY there. The rest of the dream was less related to the quest I actually have planned... but still pretty epic, and certainly took place in Eubric, though I was the size of a figure and got to wander it. It was actually really cool. Quote

I need that thing around. The quest will be 10 times cooler with it. ...Which reminds me, I need to buy Smelling Salts. ...actually, JimB, are the Smelling Salts going to be worth it, or should I just overload on Nostrum? I already know I won't be able to afford Sticky Gloves, which means I have SOME cash to blow, but I'm weighing the benefeits/costs of the other items. Mind helping me strategize for my first major Consumable run? I'm wanting to go Chi Monk as well, but only for RP reasons. As someone who can already shovel in the gold and is permanently hastened and lucky, the CM's shield skill is not that useful (although regaining full ether is a one-of-a-kind skill). I do think the class would be pretty good for someone that has already been focused on mage skills and items, though. I was swayed when I saw it granted full Ether on a Shield; that plus the Lens plus my Scroll collection means fun like 51 but without fear of running out of Ether, plus I'll have a sizable enough Health bonus to actually attack things! It's pretty awesome, actually, I'm glad I accidentally got a shot at it. Also, will someone tell me the damn date already? I kind of can't update my character stats until someone does. Quote
Chromeknight Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 The echo stood back, before firing a bolt of light into a training figure with explosive force. He was now a Sorceror. 11 year old "male" Sorceror "echo" Sorry, Tamna, I know you're tied into a different mythos, but sorcerer De'kra makes me think Orco. All you need to do is learn how to float... P.S. I am sure Nerwen would approve! Quote
Zepher Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 Finally (FINALLY!!!) done with Dastan NPCs (which jerk held me up by not writing bios... oh, me? whoops...). If any adventurous person wants to check over my work, be my guest. The NPC Index should continue it's wonderful journey towards completion over the next week or so! Quote
Flipz Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 I'm suddenly reminded that Arthur killed no one of importance in Dastan. For shame. Think we'll make it to 38 before 53? Quote
Zepher Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 (edited) Quite hopefully! I think I have NPCs from people for all the quests inbetween, I just have to write up the bios for all the Lost Party members. I also just realized I get to pick NPCs of the month! Any suggestions, folks? How quick of a quest are we talking, WBD? Edited December 3, 2012 by Zepher Quote
CMP Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 I'm suddenly reminded that Arthur killed no one of importance in Dastan. For shame. Yeah, Zepher, you forgot someone. Random Teuthisal - Teuthisal - Rogue Lion Knights Appeared in: Quest 31 This Random Teuthisal fought in one of many skirmishes with the Lion Knights on the outskirts of Dastan, and the sole of survivor of one such skirmish, the opposing force of which was led by the Heroes of Quest 31. When interrogated, he denied any information related to the Rogue Lions' activities, and soon after took his own life with the unwitting assisstance of Arthur Justus Regulus VII, who later devoured his corpse. Quite hopefully! I think I have NPCs from people for all the quests inbetween, I just have to write up the bios for all the Lost Party members. I also just realized I get to pick NPCs of the month! Any suggestions, folks? I want to see Umbra Shadeaux featured again. Quote
Flipz Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 ...Wren? C'mon, did you really have to ask on that one? Who do I want to see again...? Gurnam, I think. No, no, Singerson, Singerson for sure. Nope, Pie's got it right, I want to see Umbra. BRING ME UMBRA! Also, any reason why Bilbert's bio isn't in the non-Quest NPC segment? Quote
CMP Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 I would put Wren under Need to Know, for Quest 53. Quote
Sandy Posted December 3, 2012 Author Posted December 3, 2012 I'm okay with Mystic Knight's, the reason being is that if you don't have a broomstick (Cinna is the only one lucky enough to be using one as a main weapon) all that damage is halved. No, "Spellspin" is literally a spell, so it's long-ranged by default. Cinna just caused 1630 damage, that doesn't seem unfair to anyone? But as far as "War Cry" goes, I'm thinking of making it cause damage to all enemies in the case that all allies are already encouraged. So it would be "Frenzy" with a twist. Quote
CMP Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 Also, any reason why Bilbert's bio isn't in the non-Quest NPC segment? I don't think that section even exists yet. Jeez, will you people let me merge my posts? No, "Spellspin" is literally a spell, so it's long-ranged by default. Cinna just caused 1630 damage, that doesn't seem unfair to anyone? Oh. The wording led me to believe that the weapon would just be imbued with an element for the attack, so that it would cause half damage in the back row unless using a ranged weapon (IE, a broomstick). In that case, yeah, it's kind of overpowered. Quote
