Sandy Posted October 28, 2011 Author Posted October 28, 2011 There's a new magic shop now open at the Marketplace. It'll be up for a month, so I hope everyone will get the chance to visit it if they wish. And I have to apologize, but it mainly sells things suitable for mages and clerics. Quote

It looks great, sure hope Namyrra makes it back in time to pick up some more gems. (too bad Elphaba doesn't offer diamonds though, they're a girl's best friend after all ) Quote
Tanma Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 (edited) So many pretty gems to merge with one of my many blades. Sure I have no money, but if we win the quest we will have 250 gold each(if I calculated right). Even subtracting the 42 De'kra owes to his comrades, I could definitely get a gem and fuse it. But since we are only halfway done, the odds of completing the quest soon are not likely. Curse this epic quest with a rich cast of characters, fascinating plot, and night system of travel that adds a nice layer of realism to the game. Curse this quest and all it's wonderful features that make me have no regrets about joining it! ...but seriously, hopefully I remember to not take a quest near October next year, so that I have a better chance to claim a gem. Zepher Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 Hey, if you travel back to Eubric, you can pick one up! Quote
Tanma Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 I would have the opportunity to see it, but until I finish the quest I won't have the funds. Still, the quest is enjoyable enough for me to not worry so much about gems. Quote
Etzel Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 Wow, Alf and Erdathcath will be happy to go to that magic shop once we are done with our quest. Maybe not to buy but to sell I hope I will have some founds as well, some items in that shop looks mighty interesting. Quote

soccerkid6 Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 Whoops, sorry about that Waterbrick Down. I guess I forgot what the rules are. At least I didn't try to buy anything. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 Well, luckily for my party, they're traveling back to Eubric right now, so they should get a chance to visit the magic shop even if my Quest continues for more than a month longer. Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 (edited) No problem soccerkid6, I've already talked with volcanicpanik about this, if the party is enroute to a location, they may have the opportunity to stop at the new magic shop, but only there, not at any of the other businesses. Realistically though, the quest should be finished in less than a month's time, so you should be able to make it to the market before the new stand closes. Also, as I mentioned earlier, if the party should so chose they can always revisit any of the previous shops after they've finished at one business. Edited October 28, 2011 by Waterbrick Down Quote
Sisco Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 Sandy, are your bookshelves in the picture in the library topic very stable? I found myself needing to build some for the quest I'm planning, and the tiles fall out very easily. I'm just wondering if I did something wrong. Quote

I might be wrong, though. That's just how I do it, and it works fine for me. Quote

If you did, it's no wonder they fell off... I stacked 1x2 plates together, and put a 1x2 plate on the top. Such stacks fit the shelves like a glove. Quote

What a shame I wasn't able to bet more on the card game. Even if we go, I won't be able to afford anything. Nice idea for a new stall though, Sandy! Quote

Seeing how those in Quest 8 are picking up gems like sand on a beach, I figure I can find a way to give you guys a little money. If nothing else, maybe I'll have Master Shawe give you some of the Gold in advance. Quote
soccerkid6 Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 (edited) WBD we are able to go back to shops after/if we find Julian right? I want to get a hollow blade, but I don't have nearly enough money right now. Edited October 28, 2011 by soccerkid6 Quote

I would actually like to defend Quest 8. Yes we've just got a single gem each from the quest so far, however, there really hasn't been much in the way of money or status-altering items as there have been in other quests - like gem-imbued weapons and such. In addition we all had to make fairly hefty outlays of gold at the beginning in order to buy the required items (quest specific and consumable). On balance, I honestly don't believe we've received that much, and we as a team have worked hard for the rewards we have received, although admittedly we got lucky with my magic bursts on a couple of occasions. Good point. I'd forgotten about the whole Canteen thing. Quote

Rumble Strike Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 Well, you guys are among the highest level in all of Heroica. It's gotta be hard balancing Quests for you! Quote
CMP Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 I was thinking some battles should be labelled 'boss battles' for twice as much EXP or something - it seems kinda unfair, like in Quest 10, that even when you overcame the absolute worst of odds against a powerful set of enemies, you get one measly level. Just a thought. Quote

I didn't think it was unfair. Sure, the odds were stacked against the party because of a few unlucky rolls early on in the battle, but it could have gone a totally different way as well. The battles rely on luck for the most part, so I believe it's only fair that the reward stays the same no matter how lucky/unlucky you are. Gaining experience has been a tough issue to solve from the get-go, so it's no wonder if it still feels unbalanced to some of you guys. I've grown accustomed to this system of steady growth, myself.
