Endgame Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 Byblos? Fighting? Nobody try to take that book away from him, people... Quote
Sandy Posted December 28, 2012 Author Posted December 28, 2012 I WANT this class! :drool_wub: I knew it. Unfortunately you can't have it. I wonder if this is a one-off class for an NPC, or the new one? I would assume the former, but still... The Scholar is Byblos's own job class, it is not the upcoming expert job class. Quote
Flipz Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 You might want to get rid of the Scroll of Luck, though, or your Shield's going to be questionably useful. I wonder if this is a one-off class for an NPC, or the new one? I would assume the former, but still... Well...first thing's first, I have to get into Byblos' Quest--which has become my number one priority. Since at that time Arthur'll obviously not be a Scholar, he can just loan Byblos the Lens and all of his Scrolls except the Scroll of Luck and the Scroll of Poisoning (since that's also a "positive" Scroll) and watch Byblos status the enemies to death. Later on, Arthur can lend his positive Scrolls to Boomers or someone else who could make use of them. I knew it. Unfortunately you can't have it. The Scholar is Byblos's own job class, it is not the upcoming expert job class. Damn. Quote
CMP Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 Didn't think so. Still an interesting class, though. Now I'm just curious as to what in the world would bring Byblos on a Quest again. Quote
Palathadric Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 Scholar is totally a class I would get on board with! Too bad it won't be available. Quote
Sandy Posted December 28, 2012 Author Posted December 28, 2012 Some time off from work can do wonders for creativity, I notice. I finally have the time to make plans for the future quests (I've got 9 of them currently in progress), as well as invent new ways to make this game more exciting in general. Oh, as a response to an issue with the summoned spirits in Quest#50, I've made a ruling that the spirits cannot be inflicted with any effects, neither positive nor negative. I've edited the rule page to reflect this as well: Quote
Zepher Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 And not every character enjoys turning up to be lectured about chaos and the bloody grey (Literally the most annoying subject in Heroica. ). Just something to consider. I try to keep it so that some of my NPCs are as bored with it as you are! It's not the editor as a whole that's the QM's bane, just the RTE. I've said it before, I'll say it again: memorize the common BBCode tags and use the plain text editor. I've never had a problem with it, and other than the need to remember or reference the tags from another window, it's just like what we had before the board upgrade. But the posts coat themselves in weird formatting. They have the font of everything ever if you copy and paste it from anywhere, and it makes formatting a PAIN IN THE @SS. So... yeah. Oh, as a response to an issue with the summoned spirits in Quest#50, I've made a ruling that the spirits cannot be inflicted with any effects, neither positive nor negative. I've edited the rule page to reflect this as well: The Monkey Bar hastens Summons. I think it's a nifty artifact, so I'd like to keep it around and functioning... if possible. Quote

Only if you copy them into the RTE; then they keep the formatting they had from the source you copied from. Only plain text gets inserted if you copy-paste into the plain text editor. Quote

I think it's a nifty artifact, so I'd like to keep it around and functioning... if possible. Agreed, the editor would be 100% better if it had a "remove formatting" option in it somewhere. Also agreed. If the ruling HAS to stand, maybe it summons a second spirit of the same type? Or else allows the Evoker to summon two different elemental spirits when equipped? It's a brilliant artifact, I hate to see it completely broken. Quote
Pandora Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 Agreed, the editor would be 100% better if it had a "remove formatting" option in it somewhere. It does. It looks like an eraser, on the top left of the formatting bar. Quote
Zepher Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 I am going to reformat this party so I can use a friggin' indent as soon as these battles end. Quote
Sandy Posted December 28, 2012 Author Posted December 28, 2012 The Monkey Bar hastens Summons. I think it's a nifty artifact, so I'd like to keep it around and functioning... if possible. As far as I remember, I haven't seen, let alone approved, such an artifact... Who has it and where did they get it? QMs, always run your "Artifacts of Immense Creativity and Endless Complexity" through me first before adding them to the quests, please. That way we'll be saved from much confusion and rule-bending. Also agreed. If the ruling HAS to stand, maybe it summons a second spirit of the same type? Or else allows the Evoker to summon two different elemental spirits when equipped? It's a brilliant artifact, I hate to see it completely broken. Yes, the ruling HAS to stand. The artifact itself is not much of a problem, though. I can live with one artifact giving two turns in a round to a summon, as a means to boost it. At least it takes up an artifact slot... Quote
Zepher Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 (edited) Scuba created it. Nyx owns it (poor Nyx always gets nixed) and it is on loan to Alexis. It's not that complex... all summons are hastened. That's it. Pretty straight forward, easy to remember, etc. But as a general rule, yes, fellow QMS, PLEASE check with Sandy. When you don't I hate QMing. Because there's enough unique stuff out there already. REUSE SOME OF IT. Gems, more scrolls, grating stones, gold gold gold. All great drops. I try to only create three to four unique items per quest, and even then that's on long quests. MYTRIL SHARDS are AWESOME. Edited December 28, 2012 by Zepher Quote
Endgame Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 Sandy, weren't you on Quest 40? Zepher, you must not like Combrys or the Gladius Hides, then. To be fair, I try to just repackage existing items (Spellbound gloves into Wound's hide (now it is just throwing weapons instead of spells) and dual-strike into Dualis scepters. I think the only 3 items that use anything new are Shrapnel bow, trail brew, and dapper hat; and even then, they are pretty simplistic (and I checked with sandy on the brew! ) Quote
Pandora Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 As far as I remember, I haven't seen, let alone approved, such an artifact... Who has it and where did they get it? Nyx has it, she got it on that quest to Strivvi..... that one she went one with Ellaria. The artifact itself is not much of a problem, though. I can live with one artifact giving two turns in a round to a summon, as a means to boost it. At least it takes up an artifact slot... Phew! (poor Nyx always gets nixed) An example of nominative determinism working against the subject. Quote
Sandy Posted December 28, 2012 Author Posted December 28, 2012 Nyx has it, she got it on that quest to Strivvi..... that one she went one with Ellaria. Oh... It still doesn't mean I have seen or approved it, though. But the artifact can stay, like I said. Quote
Scubacarrot Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 And pets and that sort of thing. And yes, more mithril shards would be good. Guts has 3/4. Xarzann has one, but he hasn't been around (and I don't think he wanted to trade it). Docken has one but we all know how he feels about Mithril (although maybe he thinks differently now that adamantite is a thing?). Who else has one? Quote
Zepher Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 Hybros must, unless you bought it off of him. It will be the reward for all Guffington quests (Zoot's playthings for Wren, Mytril Shards for Guffington, don't know what yet for Russel). The next Guffington quest will reward TWO shards to each participant, so you'll certainly be able to get a whole one after that! Quote
Scubacarrot Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 I like to think that I know what I am doing when creating items, although when rules get changed or clarified... Yeah. When I'm creating items in the future, I will run by you, Sandy. I bought the one off Hybros, yeah. The next Guffington quest will reward TWO shards to each participant, so you'll certainly be able to get a whole one after that! You're so bribing people so they sign up for your quests. Quote
Endgame Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 (edited) You're so bribing people so they sign up for your quests. ...Adamatite for all people who sign-up for Progg Quest 0! Okay, that reward is a bit farfetched, but there probably will be a Progg quest 0 - a gaiden smaller then 36 and 48 of sorts showing what effects 48 had on Progg civilization. Zepher Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 A rich dude would give out mythril! It's a fact . It's a really nice drop that isn't mind boggling to host, and I do like to have a nice reward at the end of quests!! Call it what you like... but see you there! Quote
Scubacarrot Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 Man, I'm telling you, there are a lot of QM's who I'd like to play in a quest with, and a lot of players I want to play with as well. Quote
Zepher Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 (edited) I already got to host you, but I do look forward to questing with you someday, hopefully. I'd also really like to finish a quest with CMP and Skrall, and quest alongside Tesni again. Hoke, Thothwick... Cinna and I had a really really nice moment a while back I'd love to build on. And then there are some people that Boomingham has never met and would also be great company! He and Sarge are similar in some ways, might be fun. And he and Maurice would flourish together, no doubt, due to their Paladin styles clashing. Nerwen and he could REALLY have something interesting too, I think. And of course Cronk. I'm dying to play alongside or host Pretzel. And everyone, go check out the second of our many interludes, pictured and written by Rumble Strike. Some backstory for Tarn, and an intro (correct me if I'm wrong) to some quests that might be coming up in the future hosted by him as well! There are more interludes coming up! Edited December 28, 2012 by Zepher Quote
Etzel Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 Oh, new interlude! :sweet; Great job Rumble! Quote
Endgame Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 I'd personally love to host Pretzel (again), Boomingham, Nyx, Arthur, Skrall, or Ellaria, and pretty much all of 55. Quote
