Endgame Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 But I'm wasting an ether. My poor little ether. I only wanted to heal my friend, the tentacle monster. He'd be so sad if my heal didn't count as a target. ~Insectoid Aristocrat Of which you have 23 of. I'm not sure, it just doesn't seem right. Scrolls use ether too, and they don't pin an enemy down. Healing undead monsters counts as targetting; I'd argue that for consistency, it should apply to non-undead monsters as well. Quote
Endgame Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 Healing undead monsters counts as targetting; I'd argue that for consistency, it should apply to non-undead monsters as well. I think that really shouldn't count for targeting either. I think my final opinion is if you don't have a chance of taking damage, it shouldn't count as targeting. Quote

I agree. It's not like I'm damaging him and getting away without being hit. I'm healing him, and if he ends up taking damage from a shield later, I'll have to decide whether I should keep healing him and negate that damage, or get him targeted by an attack and damage one of my own men in the process. I'd say it's a legitimate strategy. Also, I think it may have been used before. I'm strapped for time, so I can't look for it now (we're still waiting for everyone in the party to voice their opinion on my plan anyways--Johon may want to take a smelling salt or something). ~Insectoid Aristocrat Edited January 1, 2013 by Dannylonglegs Quote
CMP Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 I think it's a fair strategy. You're burning ether as much as you would with a spell, only no damage is being dealt in either direction. Quote
Zepher Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 (edited) Was just rereading the opening of Quest 30. 30 and 19 both had great parties, I'm glad so many of both returned. It's interesting that the parties, divided, have 3 of the 4 Haddon folk on the Quest in the Shrine Party, and 3 of the 3 Dastan people in the other party. Cool dynamics and role-play, I love Haldor and Dyric and Skrall's poking fun at each other. EDIT: Re-reading some pinnacle scenes in Quest 30 right now. The hospital scene after losing U'Stus had some awesome role-playing from the heroes, and Nyx, Tarn and Poletad are still one of my favorite couplings when they went to save Mallelio, some real great stuff there. Just a reminder to re-read old quests from time to time... because some of you guys write really awesome stuff that deserves re-readings. Wren Questies, if you're feeling bored waiting for a round to be run, I always advise going back and reading. This is a great crew with so many potential dynamics, go remember them all!! Endgame Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 (edited) Fair enough. Though I think healing an undead, if we compare it to scrolls, should either be the same as attacking or not count as targeting: the way it is now, the worst you can get is a "no heal". xxlrocka Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 Just want to say that yes, what Drake did in the hall is true story, and he actually made an underground cave thing into the DRAKECAVE! Quote
CMP Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 Wow. I'm surprised so many of these items actually got given. Well, Merry Grogmas everyone. Quote
Endgame Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 (edited) You people infuriate me. I have to keep a chocolate bar around so I don't get an ulcer. Well, thanks for the ether core... Edited January 1, 2013 by Endgame Quote
Sandy Posted January 1, 2013 Author Posted January 1, 2013 Yes, the Grogmas Gifts have now been given - one to each player mentioned. I tried to be fair in deciding which gifts to give, but some of you did get pretty awesome stuff while others got scraps, but in the end, the suggestions all came from you guys. Some items I had to modify to make them fit the game mechanics, but I tried to keep the purpose of each item as suggested. Anyway, enjoy your gifts! My holiday vacation is now over, and I need to go to work again in a matter of hours, so now I'm off to catch some z's. Quote
Endgame Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 It was a great event, with some greater items handed out! Thanks, Sandy. Quote
Zepher Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 Merry Grogmas, all!! Thank you so so much Sandy, great event. My players - if you don't think you'll need the items this battle, let me work them into the story as soon as the battle is over. If you'd prefer to have them immediately, that's a-okay with me too! Quote
Scorpiox Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 I am so glad that Sorrow got that ether core. Quote

Pandora Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 Wow, almost all the gifts Nyx suggested were given! Thank you very much for the shoes, Sandy. Oh, and Happy New Year, everyone. Edit: Zepher, feel free to work Nyx's new red high heels into the quest somehow, she'll not be equipping them mid-battle and I can wait for you (and thus us all) to have a little fun! Quote
CMP Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 I can wait, Zepher. All this stuff would take a turn to use anyway. Quote
Scorpiox Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 (edited) And some free booze for Haldor, always good! Edited January 1, 2013 by Scorpiox Quote
