The Legonater Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 Was just rereading the opening of Quest 30. 30 and 19 both had great parties, I'm glad so many of both returned. It's interesting that the parties, divided, have 3 of the 4 Haddon folk on the Quest in the Shrine Party, and 3 of the 3 Dastan people in the other party. Cool dynamics and role-play, I love Haldor and Dyric and Skrall's poking fun at each other. EDIT: Re-reading some pinnacle scenes in Quest 30 right now. The hospital scene after losing U'Stus had some awesome role-playing from the heroes, and Nyx, Tarn and Poletad are still one of my favorite couplings when they went to save Mallelio, some real great stuff there. Just a reminder to re-read old quests from time to time... because some of you guys write really awesome stuff that deserves re-readings. Wren Questies, if you're feeling bored waiting for a round to be run, I always advise going back and reading. This is a great crew with so many potential dynamics, go remember them all!! I've started re-reading Quest 19 today. Man, I didn't remember Dyric being so angry and threatening . I'd label it as just some OOC due to it still being an early character, if it weren't for the fact that it works surprisingly well with character arc I realized during Rone's discussion with McColt earlier in 53. It's kind of amusing how things like that work out. Quote
Rumble Strike Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 Thanks WBD, I was re-reading the Swashbuckler class to see if there was anything I could use for Hlin. As an NPC with no gold to speak of, he's underpowered, but if Scuba gave him all his money, he'd be unstoppable! Quote
The_Customizer Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 By the way, The_Customizer, I'd recommend that Erdathcath wear only her Lucky Satchel and the Mage's Muffler at this point, and save the charm until later; Sealing is a really, really bad thing for a Druid. Crap, good point, the problem is I have TOO MANY ARTIFACTS! And now that I think about it, I have received all of them from quests (or a Grogmas gift) Quote
TheBoyWonder Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 I don't think Perma Lucky items should be allowed. They are too OP. Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 I don't think Perma Lucky items should be allowed. They are too OP. Perma Lucky items aren't necessarily the problem, it is the over abundance of them. They can be dealt with, but if you're including always having to include an enemy that has a jinxing special, it can get somewhat annoying. People with the items should consider that some QM's will be more reluctant to take them on, the same as characters with extremely high SP, as it does make balancing considerably more difficult, not impossible mind you, just difficult. Brickdoctor Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 Pie, are you going to post the party stats and intro in the Fields topic, or do you want us to just head over there? Quote
CMP Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 (edited) Was going to wait for you all to post/confirm, but I suppose it couldn't hurt to post the stats now. Edited January 3, 2013 by CallMePie Quote

Dannylonglegs Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 Free hit. That one. Sorry, I was thinking in DnD. ~Insectoid Aristocrat Quote
swils Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 So, here's a question. Level Up Mushroom. If I were posades right now, I'd save it until after I hit 20 (or even, hang onto it until I hit Lv40 just to maximize its usefulness at the cost of a large delay). That said, if he used it now, I can't imagine that it would drop him at an awkward Lv 20 1/2. At level 19, "A Full Level" is worth 2 battles, while at 20, it's worth three, so would it drop him at 20 1/3 or 20 2/3? Merely a point of curiosity on my own part. Quote
JimBee Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 Merely a point of curiosity on my own part. Something I've thought about, too. I would guess that it would round to the nearest increment rounded down (or up, but I always round down for Heroica), so if he was 19 1/2, he would go to 20 1/3. The easiest solution: don't use the Mushrooms when it would complicate things. Quote
Flipz Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 The easiest solution: don't use the Mushrooms when it would complicate things. it's not to your maximum benefeit, anyway. Fix'd. Also, Dannylonglegs, you need to put Alex at the top of the BO in order for him to take the Free Hit. Quote
Sandy Posted January 3, 2013 Author Posted January 3, 2013 By the way, Sandy, when can we expect to see this other expert class you mentioned earlier? It is related to a future quest of mine, so not for some time, yet. It's still on the working table, anyway. So, here's a question. Level Up Mushroom. If I were posades right now, I'd save it until after I hit 20 (or even, hang onto it until I hit Lv40 just to maximize its usefulness at the cost of a large delay). I think I remember this happening to Tesni once, when there was a level-up as a reward from a quest. I rounded it down that time, so I'd say a "full level" from 19 1/2 is 20 1/3. From 29 1/3 it is 30 1/4, etc. Quote

I actually had to stop reading by the time the party reached the first battle, because my own character was making me cringe so much. Quote

Scorpiox Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 Ya don't say! To be honest, Haldor was pretty crap for the entirety of that quest. That's why when he chose his advanced class he had to go through such a major overhaul, so that people wouldn't actually mind having to read his posts. Quote
Flipz Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 I've gotta say, Capt.JohnPaul, I really like those specials, really creative use of Slowed there! I always like when specials are both reward and punishment at the same time, too (it's why I love fighting/seeing other people fight Chaos Beasts so much). Quote

Hehe, Sarge has created 2 pointless battles for my 2 quests, and is possibly the most aggravating for Lawful/intelligent characters. Quote

Have you read Quest #19? Please, don't, it's horrific. Haldor is literally the only reason that the quest isn't fun to read for me, the nord was such a irritating n00B back then. Quote
Zepher Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 I liked Haldor! I liked that whole party, actually. Characters change over time, it's true. A fun thing to do, however, is to read back over previous quests and steal the parts that still work for the character. That way it looks like they've changed, not become a new person. Quote

What, the endless lovestruck cheesing? You liked that? Anyway, it's a fair point. I have been re-reading Quest #28 also, and that one I am less embarrassed of. I think that it contains some aspects of Haldor that I miss; back then he was much more friendly, and had more of a sense of humour. And there were certainly fewer inter-party fights. I ought to see if I can bring some of that back in. Quote
CMP Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 The 'no fighting once KO'd' rule hasn't been applied in Quest 53 yet, right, Zepher? Quote
