Flipz Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 That's still relying on SHIELDs and Special Damages, though; they're just too unreliable to balance upon. Yes, you want to make your enemies beefy enough to handle a few SHIELDs, but relying on them is a different story. I still think that Zee's Ether being 10 or less would have been much better--clearly, the battle would have gone the same way, since they got killed right when the party managed to finish off the non-Soulless enemies but the chance of success would have been a lot closer. More importantly, her Special Damage would have actually been workable, since rolling it at any point would have hurt everyone a lot (and likely Knocked Out almost all of them), but it would also have dealt with the Free Hit problem (i.e. rolling it early would have reduced the number of enemies she could reanimate, while rolling it later would have drained her of Ether and taken out all of the soulless enemies. Either way, though, the Heroes CLEARLY need more SP to live--at this level, a point here and there is just not cutting it. I think it's clear that Pie and I need to look over the party stats and re-allocate all of the party's Artifacts immediately. (And what do you mean about Hoke plowing through the undead, clearly he would have just sat there pouring Enchantments into his stuff without enough Ether to do it. ) Quote

Flipz Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 ...Doc, I don't feel like a third Darths & Droids archive binge this month, care to do the honors? In other news, that's two links in Arthur's latest statement, thank you very much. I'd click the second one first, so you have some nice background music. Quote
The Legonater Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 ...Doc, I don't feel like a third Darths & Droids archive binge this month, care to do the honors? I was thinking the same thing, but I didn't know which instance to post. Quote
UsernameMDM Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 (And what do you mean about Hoke plowing through the undead, clearly he would have just sat there pouring Enchantments into his stuff without enough Ether to do it. ) :P But to be honest, a player has the same chance of rolling a shield as rolling anything else. I wish I would have been in the Zander battle. Could use one of those Topaz gems! Quote
Flipz Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 Hmm...is that Hollow Blade (Dagger, WP:6) actually a hollow-blade dagger? I may be willing to do without my Topaz until Spring if that's the case... Quote
UsernameMDM Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 That it is, but I trade for keeps! Interested in the countersttike gloves too. ;) Quote
Zepher Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 You can buy counterstrike gloves at the market! I feel like this is the point where the quest is picking up. Gotta love some fun ol' NPCs to kick it off right. Quote
Flipz Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 (edited) That it is, but I trade for keeps! Interested in the countersttike gloves too. ;) Yes, of course, but what I meant was that Elphaba comes in the spring. If Arthur can just roll a few more SHIELDs, he may be getting a bunch of nice gear soon, it's just a matter of timing... Edited January 15, 2013 by Flipz Quote

Dannylonglegs Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 Thanks Endgame and well done on Romulus and Remus, mythological founders of rome, who were raised by Wolves. So not regretting making Leo leave Heroica. Romulus is more like me, sadistic and slightly twisted. Someone needs to take up the mantle: Sylph's decided to quit the stuff (although, it's in his nature. He never likes to admit to his sadistic side, as it's not a natural emotion IHO, like hate.) He currently feels that he almost let himself feel hatred towards this most recent opponent, which struck him pretty hard, as he feels he's superior to pretty much everyone else. Why I chose the name? Sylph should be obvious. It's an Air Elemental/Fairy, which sounds allot like the Latin Sylvania, or Forested Land--both of which describe Sylph's nature and path to some degree. Solanum is the Genus name for Nightshades, which include tomatoes (yeah, Endgame! Tomatoes.), Eggplants, Potatoes and Deadly Nightshade, a toxic plant who's poison is highly deadly as the name would imply (and the later's relative, the Bittersweet Nightshade, also deadly, and a plant I grow in my garden for the pretty--but deadly--berries and purple star-shaped flowers! {the flowers are also deadly}) Of course you can see how that fits with his grim nature and touch for the botanical. ~Insectoid Aristocrat Quote

swils Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 Good thing, they create no real challenge and there is no decent loot at all from them... Psh, speak for yourself. They're fairly quick easy battles that are getting us some nice exp, plus I'm up an extra 100+ gold from just that one fight. Next time I run through here for a clearing run, I'll definitely be doing it with a healthy stockpile of Nostrums, maybe even Smelling Salts. The fight we're in now is worth 209 per shield right now. I, for one, am loving it Quote
Pandora Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 I hink you guys could've pulled it off if there had been even one less minion or if Zee had started with less ether. Great effort. Thanks Corny, I think we all really, really tried with that fight. And no, I did not intend 16. I did take out 2 Apprentices though, because I'm not sadistic. Zepher, I love your quests, you know that, but if you were willing to take out 2 apprentices then that shows you were willing to edit the enemies relative to the hero team. If all the heroes had only gone to one place you would have adjusted the enemies accordingly, so why you felt you couldn't do more this time is something I fail to understand. I know you don't have to make the battles easy, but they should at least be possible (and possible with a percentage that's a whole number). Why is you character named what its named? I always meant to reply to the music question a while back, and maybe I still will. There was another question I spent too long thinking about too, but I can't even remember what it was. As to why Nyx is called Nyx.. well my interest in mythology should be evident, so have a look here (and this might also explain why I chose the name Lyssa whilst in Strivvi). Quote
PsyKater Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 (edited) Why is you character named what its named? Anyone ever googled her name? Just realised that this is not that helpful. That's why, I will provide a link and an image: cc: Jibi44 | wikipedia.org Edited January 15, 2013 by PsyKater Quote
Quarryman Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 Why is you character named what its named? The reason for the name "Namyrra Uq" should be pretty obvious, just read it backwards. Quote
Rumble Strike Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 I am so, so slow. I never realised that at all, and I normally spot the backwards name thing! Tarn is a word for a mountain river or stream, it fit with his origin story. Valco was made up. Quote
PsyKater Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 The reason for the name "Namyrra Uq" should be pretty obvious, just read it backwards. I always spotted the similarity but not that it was the same backwards... Quote

Flare Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 Why is you character named what its named? Well my first name is Ben/Benjamin so Benji is the annoying nickname that I try to prevent people from calling me Carvenhall is a mimic of the name of the village that Eragon (Paolini's Inheritance Cycle w00t) came from, Carvahall. Voila, Benji Carvenhall The reason for the name "Namyrra Uq" should be pretty obvious, just read it backwards. Backwards it reads... Uq Namyrra... Quote
Professor Flitwick Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 Pretty sure I've answered this before, but Thothwick derives from Thoth, an Egyptian deity often depicted with the head of a baboon (although also seen with an Ibis for a head), and wick, which I just took off the end of Flitwick, as to help people remember his name better. Palathadric Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 Bedrolls restore ether as well. That's what the heroes in Quest 55 told me anyways... They fooled you! Quote

Sandy Posted January 15, 2013 Author Posted January 15, 2013 I thought you were allowing the Monkey Bar artifact. Crap. I forgot that, already. Why is you character named what its named? I saw the name "Ellaria" used in the Song of Ice & Fire -series (aka. Game of Thrones by those who have only seen the tv-series), and liked it enough to use it for my character as well. "Arbour" is simply a reference to the latin word meaning "wood". Carvenhall is a mimic of the name of the village that Eragon (Paolini's Inheritance Cycle w00t) came from, Carvahall. Carvahall is also a place name in Costa del Sol, Spain. Geez, what hasn't that damned Paolini stolen for his books? Quote
