Zepher Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 Why aren't any of you happy with the artifacts you have?! Quote
CMP Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 Pssh, do you know how easy the cemetery battle would've been if every single Undead was Jinxed, Badly Poisoned, and Cursed? Quote
Zepher Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 (edited) Yes, well, you just described why I need to make battles seem impossible. Imagine how scared your enemies are of you! They deserve a fair shot too. EDIT: I'll update tomorrow, I want to see some more role playing now that you're all together and have lots of things and people to discuss! Flipz Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 Why aren't any of you happy with the artifacts you have?! 1.) We're never happy with the stuff we already have, who do you think we are?! 2.) We don't trust you not to throw impossible fights against us, so we have to break the system optimize just to survive. Yes, well, you just described why I need to make battles seem impossible. Imagine how scared your enemies are of you! They deserve a fair shot too. EDIT: I'll update tomorrow, I want to see some more role playing now that you're all together and have lots of things and people to discuss! 3.) They get easily six to twelve times the health of the average Hero, and that's not even the main bosses; that's not even taking into account elemental immunities and the ability to dish Free Hits. Plus, all they have to do is sit there and die, and then after the battle come back to life and overwhelm us with their magical QM powers of "because the plot says so". 4.) Zeph, why are your NPCs ignoring meeee?? I've spoken directly to Vipera, and Arthur's saying plenty of things that the other characters could respond to, especially seeing as they're reactions to things the NPCs have said. I realize that I've said out of character that Arthur doesn't particularly like most of the people on the Quest, but that's OOC knowledge, AND I'm making special efforts to try to talk to these people, dammit! I'm lonely enough in real life that I spend the vast majority of my time hitting refresh on Eurobricks and watching Youtube videos, throw me a bone here! EDIT: That...came out a little harsher than I was intending. Sorry. Something about point 3 is hitting a nerve with me for some reason, and it has nothing to do with stats or battles...lemme think about that one and PM you, okay? Quote
CMP Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 I like difficult battles, personally. Ones that aren't balanced for my current party, no ( Our faults anyway), but difficult ones that you really have to figure out are always fun. The problem with point four is that Arthur seems quite melodramatic thus far on Quest 53. He's just difficult to speak to because the vast majority of what he converses about is fate, chaos, philosophy, etc. He's great for chatting up big baddies, not so much with the relatively down-to-earth Wren Hunters. Flipz Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 The problem with point four is that Arthur seems quite melodramatic thus far on Quest 53. He's just difficult to speak to because the vast majority of what he converses about is fate, chaos, philosophy, etc. He's great for chatting up big baddies, not so much with the relatively down-to-earth Wren Hunters. Then tell him so. To be blunt, I can't roleplay in a vacuum; anyone who's ever been on-stage will tell you that one of the worst feelings in the world is putting yourself out there for your scene partner and them failing to return the energy. I've been deliberately not locking myself in to any one target (i.e. "Arthur walks over to Haldor and says X") whenever I can just because, to be frank, there are TONS of people who could have interesting interactions with my character and with other characters and are missing out (and yes, I'm including NPCs in this). Seriously, we have the most interesting group of character's I've seen for a Quest, period, and yet when we're not in battle everyone just seems to stand around in silence. To put it into numbers, I average about 100-120 posts per 20 pages of a Quest. We're six pages longer than both Quest 38 AND Quest 51, and I have less posts in 53 than I have in either of the others--and when you look at the length of the posts, you'll see the ones in 53 are significantly shorter as well. In fact, post length and post count seem to be down for everybody, and it's bugging me to death. This is the finale of one of the best-written story arcs in Heroica, and it deserves more than we (including me!) are giving it. And with that, I'm off to bed for some rest I've put off for FAR too long. Quote
Peppermint_M Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 I wish Tesni could get back to Eubric! argh, should have hung around in the hall... Quote
PsyKater Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 (edited) They fooled you! Pssh... He starts to believe you! To continue the discussion here: QM Note: In R&D, member Palathadric said bedrolls don't restore ether, and said Sandy never said they did. So I"ll just play it safe and not update your ether until someone finds me a needed quote! Tada: Bedrolls allow the heroes to sleep at situations designated or approved by the Quest Master. You cannot usually sleep in a dungeon crawling with enemies, for example. Sleeping restores full health and ether. Also in the marketplace: Bedroll – Allows the hero to rest and regain health and ether in a safe place. Costs 5 gold. (emphasis mine) To prove that I am not telling nonsense, here are some more statements: This. This so hard. That said, it's a cheap item that's extremely helpful if used at the right time (especially for Ether users), so there's really no reason not to have one--even if you have Natural Respite, that won't replenish Ether like a bedroll does. And then he could simply sleep in his bedroll again, regaining it. 1. Bedrolls can only be used out of combat to rest, to restore health AND ether, but can only be used at a QM's discretion, for example, don't expect to be able to use one in the middle of a battlefield, between waves or something. 2. It is an artifact, they can NOT be upgraded. 3. That is correct. But it lasts 3 turns, so in reality the chances of it being succesful is slightly higher. 4. It makes you able to heal people without ether, yes. It is also capable of damaging undead. 5. Yes, which means that it will attack at full power from the back row. Hope this helps Granted that you stated before that the Rules say something different but maybe that is outdated or simply incorrect. In fact the bedroll is used to replete health and ether since I read Heroica... Edited January 16, 2013 by PsyKater Quote

CMP Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 There'd probably be more conversation if they didn't leave Jun unconscious on the first floor... Haven't seen so much carelessness for the lives of NPCs since Quest 31. Quote

CMP Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 (edited) Every time Tarn brings up going back for Jun, or tries talking to the bandits, he's rebuffed! Maybe it's the timing. Perhaps you should try talking before trying to decapitate someone. Actually, it shouldn't be too difficult now that Hybros has the Gate to go back and get Jun. Endgame Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 (edited) Hooray, another NPC in 48: this one works like a reskinned barbarian normal hero. Well, the rally was only the seoncd battle in 48, and they had to kill 32+ enemies straight... Although, another continuous battle thingy is coming up very, very soon. I'd love to do a quest combining the continuous battle of Q50 with the mechanics and backstory of Q17; I just have no idea how to fit that into my faction(s)' storylines. Quote

We need a party delivering something/assassinating/negotiating whatever on the OTHER side of the battlefield. The only way to get there is straight through the battlefield.
