Flipz Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 Oh! Oh! How clever! That is a NICE cypher method, Zeph, it's simple, but it also leaves a whole set of letters you can mess with further! Very nice! Hmm...I may have to make Arthur talk like that more often, give you a taste of your own medicine. EDIT: ...aaaand done. Time-consuming...but TOTALLY worth it. Quote
Zepher Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 Ugh, you think I want to have to figure things out on my own quest?! I have to decipher all that. Quote

PsyKater Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 As if translating all this anglosaxon letter salad is not enough for me Quote
Zepher Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 Admittedly harder for a non-native speaker. Don't worry, everything they're discussing will be explained later, those who break the code just get a little preview. Quote
Flipz Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 No translations!! Put in the work. I wish I could do an exospeak gag that purports to be explaining how to translate the phrases, but is written in such bizzare and technical jargon that no one would be able to understand it anyway. Unfortunately, it's WAY too late at night for me to even begin such a dictionary-scouring endeavor. ...hold the phone, I've got it! It's simple to translate, really. Masked Builder Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 Building's my biggest problem, unfortumately--I can do the odd viginette here and there, but a full Quest needs a LOT more sets, and I just don't have enough bricks in the colors I want (though a year's worth of Pick-A-Brick cups and I'm starting to get closer). Gray in particular is a sore spot for me--I need tons of it, and I have VERY little. On the plus side, the long waits serve to distill some of my sillier ideas--the Cathedral Quest I've been working on started out as this wacko conspiracy story about a malfunctioning dimensional gate (don't ask). After about six months' worth of work, it's gotten a bit more reasonable, as those I'm working with can attest. EDIT: I really wish there was a set that would do for 1x2 gray and dark gray bricks what Olivia's House does for the 1x5x5, 1x2x5, and 1x1x5 panels--at a price point that's closer to Olivia's House than to Helm's Deep. I bet Masked could help Yeah I could if I was done with yours. Grey bricks are not a problem. Really, Zepher? Really? This. When am I supposed to find to to unscramble that?! Quote
Flipz Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 (edited) What, I gave you guys instructions on solving it right here! It's simple to translate, really. Kutv seqmade eadj dopstopapv ip vje dofe qjsate xivj vje qsewiout doptopapv ip vje amqjacev. OK, OK, I'll give a little hint. The best place to start translating is with Gray's statement ("Fope"); it's clearly an affirmative statement, which narrows down the possibilities substantially. If you start substituting four-letter words that are similar in meaning to "OK", you'll eventually find one that will reveal the pattern. EDIT: Also, my own sentences written in the same code will actually make the translation easier, since you'll have a larger frame of reference for finding two- and three-letter words like "of" "and" "the" "for", and the like. CorneliusMurdock Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 Oh. It is a cryptogram. When I glanced at it earlier, I assumed it was one of your scrambles, Zepher. I got it now. I guess I do ask for cryptograms, so I shouldn't complain when you give them. Quote

Scorpiox Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 ...And solved! Easy as pie, back in the day we used to crack vertically and horizontally transposed Trifid ciphers before our morning cup of tea. Quote

Waterbrick Down Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 Play hard or go home, Hoke. Or you can just be consistant with your character and play a dumb Ogre that never learned to spell correctly. :D Quote

UsernameMDM Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 Nope. I'm not any good at those kind of things. Give me math any day. I figure if someone else in the party has it down, then ok. Isn't that why quest parties are made up with different types of people/classes with different skill sets? Quote
Rumble Strike Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 I agree. Tarn's a lovely guy but he's thick as two short planks. The puzzle solving and strategy he leaves to others who are more capable. Oh, and it was nice to slip in a proper classic film reference in my quest rather than the usual sci-fi or fantasy ones Quote
Palathadric Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 (edited) I think whether a hero can roll Damage or Special Damage when healing the undead is something to be taken to Sandy, I am almost certain that healing the undead is different from healing a regular enemy, but I could be wrong. I believe I got knocked out in Quest 24, in the undead battle, when I was just healing those suckers, although I have to check either I or CJP could be/have been wrong. Scubacarrot Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 You are wrong. This has been discussed before, I'm pretty sure. It's not a balance issue. Quote
