No, it's because of his weapon, the Staff of the Cultist Battlemages. When wielding it, Flipz has a 50/50 chance of Fleeing rather than being KO'd.

Other than that exception, it works as you think it does.

I'm letting you use your once in a life time QM life-line right here and now and giving you some advice. Smelling salts are a blessing, especially with the mulled wine. Smelling salts will let you MUCH more easily control who takes which free hit. You also have two healers, one of whom counterstrikes. And if worse comes to worse and you need another ally... I hear Pogs are particularly scared of genies...

I thought about the smelling salts but in the previous rounds, it would have been a death sentence for however took them.

Genie? At first I thought you'd lost it, Zeph, and then I took another look at our inventories.

Scorpiox, what does your Emerald lamp of summoning do? I had assumed you just named an emerald all fancy.

No. People who flee may not return to combat. That would make fleeing basically a "never die" ability.

Wow, I had totally forgotten about that old Jinn I had malingering in my inventory. :oh:

It is one of Bluehood's magical summoning lamps from Quest #28, and it could just save us here! :sweet:

Haldor will still be pretty pissed at Arthur running off however, compulsory or not.

Eh, he'll get over it when he hears what Arthur went through trying to help the party while they were busy fighting.

We should totally have something like the EB Heroica Awards for 2013

I pitched that to Sandy way back last year, but it never went anywhere. It would be really fun, I think.

This is a community game, remember? So if someone wants to host these Awards, be my guest.

I would love to host them (If no-one has any objections). Each hero would nominate their favorite Player for a multiple of category's. i.e Best roleplaying, etc That would be fun. And the player with the most nominations for a category would get 100 gold as a reward Edited by Skyrimguy

I'd be willing to lend a hand as well. I think it'd be neat to go beyond players and include QM's as well, i.e. best original NPC, best photography, best new game mechanic, best item, best script, etc.

Also, what are peoples opinions on a handbook? Wiki, pdf, or topic post, or some other version?

I think a wiki would be really nice. I HAVE been working on a "Player's Guide", but it's still an early WIP (obviously most of my work is going into the Quest I'm building).

I think a Handbook could be very usefull; a wikia may be too large to manage (it would serve more people) but you can modified it any time, a pdf cannot be changed once done, a topic can be modified any time only by the creator. At the end I'm for a wiki or a topic as TBW.

I think a wiki would be too much and unnecessary. Though the NPC index is getting very large, and I'm afraid the hyper-links in the first post are going to get to be too much... anyway, point is, a handbook would be fine in a topic. It shouldn't be too large either, or else what's the fun in that? Let people learn through playing. Good intro quests should always be hosted, and that will certainly teach people the mechanics they need to know.

The Awards are something I'd like to help with too. I really did pitch them to Sandy. I can't recall her specific response, but it was something that essentially meant wait on it. But what y'all are proposing are essentially what I had in mind. A voting process for "best quest, best NPC, best roleplay, favorite moments, etc." I'd still love to see them and have a hand in them if possible.

I was typing my opinion on the topic vs. wiki matter, while Zepher posted his insights. Basically everything he said, is what I had wanted to say, only he said it better  . So, I'm also in favor of a topic, for the same reasons Zepher stated. A wiki could be overkill for a humble beginner's guide and might seduce the writer(s) to go overboard with information, when the idea is actually to have a really basic guide.

From time to time I've contemplated on putting all Heroica RPG -related info onto a wiki, but then I've figured that it would stray this game too far from its home in Eurobricks. There's always the chance that a wiki would get out of hand - people might start hosting their own quests there, or sabotage the information, or whatever.

I'm not entirely sure what you guys are meaning with the "Player's Guide". There's already the rules and the FAQ, as well as a dozen information topics on everything imaginable. No matter how many topics is put up, the only way people are going to learn how to play this game is by actually playing it. Sure, you can discuss various strategies and recommend certain tactics to the different classes, but isn't the whole point that the players get to experiment on this by themselves?

Right now, I'm not convinced that a guide to new players is needed. If the rules need more clarification, please say so and I'll do something about it.

I'm not saying you didn't pitch the idea to me, but I seriously have no recollection of you doing that. I did not find any mention of it in our PMs, either...

But maybe those of you willing to organize the Heroica RPG Awards can start a group PM to discuss the details in private - just be sure to include me into it.

2) AWARDS. I think we should do awards for Heroica (much like Mafia) only make them more public. Once we reach 25 quests, maybe? If you wouldn't be opposed, I'd love to run them! But you might want to, in which case, if you want any help with it, I'd love to help. pirate_thumbup.gif

From way back in December of 2011 January 2012. When Dastan was just being tossed around. Reading old PMs from this game are so funny sometimes, it really is interesting how far we've come. You told me at one point you had a) no plans of your own for Zoot and any of his followers, and b) no plans to ever discuss any of the original veterans ever again. An organic story is an organic story.

I remember when, during Q17, I suggested you should co-host with Doc, and you told me you were already working on something secret, and I panicked and thought Wren was going to come to Bric'bay. :snicker:

I also dug up an old parody video a friend of mine made of Star Trek. We totally need to have a parody of this scene in Q53:

"Kirk...Kirk, you're still alive, my old friend."

"Still. Old. Friend. You've managed to kill just about everyone else, but like a poor marksman you keep missing the target."

"Perhaps I no longer need to try." *transporter sound*

"Khan. Khan, you've got Genesis. But you don't have me. If you're going to kill me, Khan, you're going to have to come down here. You're going to HAVE to come...down...here!"

"I've done far worse than kill you...I've hurt you. And I wish to go on...hurting you. I shall leave you like you left me...like you left her--marooned for all eternity at the center of a dead planet. Buried alive...buried alive...buried alive..."

"...KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNN!"

Please tell me if I misunderstood something, but why isn't Haldor using the Emerald Lamp of Summoning? Didn't Zeph hint at something about genies? Am I the only one reading the QM's nudges?!
