Scubacarrot Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 Problem is, 50% or more of the time, Special Mirror ends up being enough to KO the Witch before they can reflect the attack... If an enemy´s attack instantly kills you, it isn´t a well designed attack. Quote
Zepher Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 Nerfed again...oh, well. Not nerfed. You may not have known it, but they've always been that way. We're talking about a Shield roll, it's supposed to be reasonably powerful. Special Mirror is just a devious way to get back at QMs for overpowered Special Skills making the best of a bad situation... It's not like an instant kill, or even Badly Poisoning. Hex only lasts one round. Except that one time where you totally KO'd one of my bosses on the first round with it and were totally alright. Quote
Flipz Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 (edited) The overall goal is to be balanced and fun to play - you can't just start discounting your abilities to get a better one! Also, 3,000th post. Woot woot. But as it stands, Witch isn't balanced and fun to play. EDIT: Nah, I'll wait until later to express that particular opinion. Edited January 25, 2013 by Flipz Quote
Scubacarrot Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 But as it stands, Witch isn't balanced and fun to play. It´s balanced alright. Atramor was wrecking in 40. If it´s not fun now, that sucks, but perhaps it´s the type of battles. Could be. Quote
Endgame Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 Which is exactly why we are buffing the shield roll, but you can't go overboard. Quote
Flipz Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 (edited) If an enemy´s attack instantly kills you, it isn´t a well designed attack. Tell that to pretty much every freakin' enemy on this Quest! EDIT: emoticon change. Edited January 25, 2013 by Flipz Quote
CMP Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 I do a 50/50 chance is balanced. And I think it will be very fun to play. Except that one time where you totally KO'd one of my bosses on the first round with it and were totally alright. His Damage, Special Damage, and Free Hits were all OHKO. He totally had that coming. But as it stands, Witch isn't balanced and fun to play. Of course it is. I just haven't been able to enjoy rolling Shield for quite a long time. Quote

Scubacarrot Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 Right, so in Quest 53, the specials currently are mostly, do X amount of damage. For a witch, that of course is not going to be any good. Witches main attraction is special mirror. Since Damage means different things to enemies than Heroes, enemies take much more than Heroes, these are the worst kinds of specials for Witches. (The best being ones that buff Health that can exceed maximum health or summon allies. ) Quote
Flipz Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 His Damage, Special Damage, and Free Hits were all OHKO. He totally had that coming. He did. Any enemy that is designed to be an insta-kill like that deserves to be demolished unexpectedly. Quote
Scubacarrot Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 Tell that to pretty much every freakin' enemy on this Quest! :tongue:I hope they are reading this. Quote
CMP Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 (The best being ones that buff Health that can exceed maximum health or summon allies. ) I'll never forget the Fantastical Journey of Atramor Gibbin and the Angry Seaweed. Quote
Scubacarrot Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 I'll never forget the Fantastical Journey of Atramor Gibbin and the Angry Seaweed. I kind of think she should make a reappearance. Quote

(The best being ones that buff Health that can exceed maximum health or summon allies. ) THAT'S IT! Thank you so much, that's excellent advice for my own Quest-in-construction; I've realized now that flat damaging specials are, frankly, not nearly as fun as more varied abilities. Now when I'm constructing stats, I'll know specifically (rather than instinctively) not to overuse those. Thanks, Scuba! Edited January 25, 2013 by Flipz Quote
Endgame Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 Okay, here is what I propose: The Witch earns Gold equal to the targeted enemy's level and has a 1/3 chance of hexing every enemy. Quote
swils Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 (edited) I was reading over past quests to get a feel for entry-level encounter balancing, and I saw this... oh, what naive fools they were to let the ranger eat the apple! I'll eat the apple, since I have the lowest health. I think that's fair justification for giving loot to myself. Edited January 25, 2013 by swils Quote

We also seemed to be more excited by the multiple WP: 4 dagger drops than we were by the Dread Hat. Quote
Capt.JohnPaul Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 Ahahah! ^^ The two posts above me! That;'s hilarious. Quote
Endgame Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 Man, that Sniper is luckier then any of you! Quote
Dannylonglegs Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 (edited) Man, that Sniper is luckier then any of you! No kidding! At least he hasn't rolled a raid yet. The moment he does I'm calling foul-play! That would definately be foul play because that's the Air-Progg's special. ~Insectoid Aristocrat Edited January 26, 2013 by Dannylonglegs Quote
Endgame Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 It'd be even more foul play because it is only free hits, not specials. Quote
herrJJ Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 [/size]If I could come up with an idea so good that Sandy would forget how new I am to the game then I might host a quest that you could come on. Of course that would never happen seeing as I have no Ideas. Being even more new to the game I have the same feeling. I'd love to host a quest (although my first one isn't over yet ). I also have some ideas - but the lack of bricks holds me off att the moment. I know there are great buidlers in here who would certainly assist, but I'd like to do it on my own - just a personal thing Being a little more experienced (just started reading through the first quests and hopfully be through all by time) I will start with my creations. I also guess these kind of talking is for the Quest Masters Lounge, ey? Quote
Flipz Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 (edited) We need more Heroica-derived titles. Seriously, if people saw half of the stuff we say in here, taken out of context, then surely they'd want to see how on earth those particular phrases came into existence. (Well, that and we'd be able to advertise that way via the Titles thread, since pretty much everyone reads that... ) And apparently ninja'd at some point without even realizing it. LOL I'm safe as long as I don't have a title I thought that we didn't have enough people with title-giving abilities in order to do that, but I guess perhaps we do Edited January 26, 2013 by Flare Quote
Rumble Strike Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 Typical! Tarn finally finishes off an enemy for the first time in this Quest and the blighter just disappears! Quote
