Dannylonglegs Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 For clarification, the Progg Lurker was the intended rare enemy for this battle: he had a 1/6 chance of appearing in every area thus far, but due to the basement's dark/musty nature, he had a 1/2 chance of spawning in this room. Rare Proggs are tough... but also drop sweet loot! Have at im', 48ers! Would you clarify the Loot drop for the Shrooms? Is that 250 gold? ~Insectoid Aristocrat Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Screwed. So screwed. They're all so screwed. Meanwhile, Arthur gets to have character development instead of getting pissed off by more Court dickery! I fail to see how that is the case. Mechanically speaking, this looks to be one of the easiest fights thus far. Though from a story-line point, we all knew there wasn't anything the heroes could do to stop Wren from getting the location of the entrance to the temple, didn't we? Quote
Flipz Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 A Spellspin here would be COMPLETELY awesome. Good thing I can attack twice and have lucky! Actually, you can only attack twice if you physically attack. I'd recommend using the spell. I fail to see how that is the case. Mechanically speaking, this looks to be one of the easiest fights thus far. The other party is TOTALLY going to crush the Chaos Beasts. Quote
UsernameMDM Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 (edited) Actually, you can only attack twice if you physically attack. I'd recommend using the spell. I liked it better when you could only mumble. Stupid facts getting in the way of a good plan... I would do the physical attack if I had my Cultist Hat!!! Nvm! Not Undead! CorneliusMurdock Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 I don't think it's too bad. We'll see how round one goes. If Cronk can get his angel in the first few rounds, we should be able to free Gnash and McColt. If we free McColt quickly enough, this battle will be much easier. Quote
Flipz Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 If you're not going to help... Shut your pie hole. But then you don't get my wonderful battle advice! Once the enemies have been cut down a bit, Alexis should target Mephisto since he can't steal her effects and Sealing is useless against her. Interestingly enough, if/when we actually fight Vonnetate in person, I'm guessing she'll be most valuable against him (or at least, someone who is wearing her ring), since I think it's highly likely that he'll be the one with the Back Breaker special Zeph previewed for us ages ago. He IS the only major NPC here whose Special is a complete mystery. Quote

Oh, but what If I don't need your fancy shmancy advice. I'd already thought about having Alexis go after Mephisto after she takes out the apprentices. She is lucky after all and we don't want him rolling special damage more times than he has ether. Quote
CMP Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 She wouldn't be Lucky attacking Mephisto, though. That damn Soul Sucker...actually, Hans is the best suited to take him out. And honestly, I don't think this battle is that bad at all. Looks fine to me. That Amulet. Quote
Flipz Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 She wouldn't be Lucky attacking Mephisto, though. That damn Soul Sucker...actually, Hans is the best suited to take him out. Why not? She doesn't use Ether anymore, and her Lucky and Hastened effects are both permanent... Quote
CMP Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Why not? She doesn't use Ether anymore, and her Lucky and Hastened effects are both permanent... Oh, I forgot, she's got the Lucky Die. In that case, yeah, Alexis could easily take him out. Quote
Flipz Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 That Amulet. Eh. It's an Accessory, we have tons of those. I have two already that give me abilities I like a lot better. Though I do have to admit, it's a nice add for Witches, who thrive when they roll Special Damage against effect-dealing enemies. Speaking of which, it's a shame Atters isn't immune to Sealed, he totally could have Special Mirrored Mephisto and absolutely ruined him. If/when we get to Vonnetate, I think he ought to wear Alexis' ring and try to Special Mirror him. Quote
CMP Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 It would only last one round, unfortunately. And I don't think souls would taste particularly good to mortals... Quote
Brickdoctor Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 It can be inferred from this statement that I would like that amulet, but I'm not saying that I want it because I don't want it to be nerfed after I use it to tank negative effects. Quote

Flipz Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 It would only last one round, unfortunately. And I don't think souls would taste particularly good to mortals... Well, actually, based on the wording it'd be a permanent effect that couldn't be remedied, so he'd be Sealed and unable to use the Special again. Also, if anyone wanted to waste a Tonic on him, that'd be another way of avoiding the insta-KO Special. It can be inferred from this statement that I would like that amulet, but I'm not saying that I want it because I don't want it to be nerfed after I use it to tank negative effects. You had your chance to join the Quest and you skipped out on us. Please come help us! Specials are rarely just negative effects anymore, I don't think it'd be nerfed too bad. I hope not, at least... Pie, please do me a favor and post here what Docken would look like at Level 30 (just pretend he OD'd on Level-up Mushrooms) with the Cobweb Cowl, Dread Hat, that amulet, and Counterstrike Gloves equipped? Quote
Zepher Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 I run all my items by Sandy before my quests begin, which is why they are nearly never nerfed (they get nerfed before hand ). And all negative effects, including sealed, will only last one round. Quote
Scorpiox Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Wow, Zepher, that Court scene was one of the most epic in all of Heroica! Sad to see Bennetton go, however, he will be missed. Quote

Eternally wandering the Hall, unable to get into a Quest. Alternatively, in a bloody pile at the feet of one of the Threshold Monsters before he can get to Level 30. But yeah, his stats would be cool. Quote
Endgame Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 (edited) Would you clarify the Loot drop for the Shrooms? Is that 250 gold? ~Insectoid Aristocrat I round down the Mushroom Pile's HP to the nearest multiple of 5 (so if there is 99 HP left, I round down to 95) and give you that amount of gold. It is an incentive to not let the Gluttons gobble it all up. EDIT: I... I hope you feel happy, 48ers! These were some of my favorite enemy designs! Edited January 30, 2013 by Endgame Quote
UsernameMDM Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Great scene Zeph! Y'all can have you amulet. I want the opal, amethyst and diamond. Quote
PsyKater Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 OOC: Does lucky have any effect in the 6 rolled determining my badly poisoned? I think it has just been clarified that lucky only effects the battle die, so I suppose no. Great scene Zeph! Y'all can have you amulet. I want the opal, amethyst and diamond. Sure *pet**pet**pet* Quote

Flipz Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 You know, it's interesting...Wren and the Court show different evil sides of Chaos...to me, the Darkstar is an artifact of the evil side of Order. A powerful one at that, one that'd be putting out vibes across half of Uland. I think Arthur would want to destroy it as much as Guts. Quote
